Everything coming in "Full circle" are the words that come to mind when thinking of this book. The jacket cover gives a great description of the book and much better than I, so there will be no "book report" from me. The characters present the story in their own voice throughout the book and they all have secrets, some that would be very hard to keep by the average person. I'm still not sure I really liked Greer at all, even though she was integral to the story. She seemed to be a spoiled, selfish, rich girl who could snap her fingers and have everyone at her beck and call. She also seemed to have an unrealistic ability to have people nearly "worship' her and she always gets what she wants, even when she's not around. There seems to be a bit of a gap in time at the end that takes a few minutes to follow but it eventually resolves itself. Overall, it is a very good read and all comes " full circle".
I was provided an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Amelia and Parker grew up next door to each other and their mother's are best friends. Amelia is working on a story about about abandoned embryos when she discovers Parker's name on the list. Parker is just trying to find a way to get through each day after the death of his wife Greer. When Amelia shares the discovery their worlds begin to change in ways neither could imagine. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I requested this book because I have read some of the author's other books and I have loved each one. This is an author I will always read and this is the sort of book I have to keep coming back to remember how much I love to read. As I get older, I am finding that many books come along that I just can't seem to get into...like, at all. But then I will read a book like this and go "oh yeah"...The book is told by 3 or 4 different points of view and while I normally do not like that, this time it seemed okay. You have one man and two women, essentially. He has loved them both at times of his life and he married one...he thought she would be his forever but that wasn't the case. The other woman he loved as a teenager for the most part but she also became one of his best friends...the story is about what brought them all three together, more than once. I loved the book, personally, and it was exactly what I was expecting from this author. :)

This book.... THIS BOOK! I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to this author, but it's the truth... Every single book she writes just gets better than her previous ones. This book BLEW ME AWAY! *taps mic* Are you hearing me? This book is a book you want to read!

<insert a bunch of swear words in a very excited voice>

I was NOT prepared for this book! In no way was I prepared for Harvey to write such an emotionally charged book on such an hard topic to grasp. This book blew me away. I was torn up inside throughout much of this book. No one can write a sad, happy book like Harvey can. I can't even type out my thoughts properly after reading this book.

This book tore my heart out. It mended my hear, just to tear it apart again. This book left me feeling whole and hopeful. This book left me feeling optimistic and happy. I felt the weight of the book and felt light-hearted by the end of the book. (See, that made sense in my head. Oh well.)

If you haven't gotten the picture yet, I highly recommend this book. Harvey is the Queen in Southern Chick Lit. She is the Queen of weaving a tale of family secrets with exceptional (and sometimes not so exceptional) family dynamics, all the while weaving a story full of love and longing (and not just in a romantic way). I can't sing this book enough praise.

I enjoy books by Kristy Woodson Harvey and this was no exception. Amelia Buxton is a journalist researching a fertility clinic and finds a group of frozen embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer. Recently separated from her husband, Amelia moves to her childhood home on Buxton Beach and gives Parker the news. He is still grieving his wife's death and decides to hire a surrogate to help him become a single dad. Harvey describes the soul searching Amelia does before telling Parker of the embryos and then her quandary about whether or not to become his surrogate. The characters are extremely likable and I found myself rooting for a happy conclusion. In addition, Harvey raises the issue of what happens to embryos if parents die or divorce. I highly recommend this book.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. I have read a few books by Kristy Woodson Harvey and have never been disappointed. It was the same with Under the Southern Sky. The book does not disappoint.
Under the Southern, Sky takes on more complicated storylines which are written with such delicacy readers are left literally falling in love with the two main characters.
This book is a must read.

Two childhood friends discover that love—and family—can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally bestselling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).

Recently separated Amelia Buxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Buxton Beach. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.

Y'all.

So I had never read a book by Kristy Woodson Harvey before. However, I am a member of a bookclub on Facebook for fans of Lowcountry fiction, and I see her name thrown about quite a lot among the greats like Dorothea Benton Frank and Mary Alice Monroe (and Elin Hilderbrand, who might write about Nantucket but still deserves the same accolades). So when I saw she had a new book coming out, I decided to go for it, and I am SO glad I did.

I loved this book with my whole heart. I started reading it last night when I went to bed, and I basically spent the entire day today glued to my Kindle, unable to put it down. I am going to add all of Ms. Harvey's other works to my reading list because I can't get enough. Between the beautiful characters and the coastal setting, this had enough to pull me in; it was the engrossing story that held my attention from the first page to the last. I found myself rooting for the characters throughout. Do yourself a favor...if you love a Lowcountry story, check out this author and check out this book.

I liked this story a lot. Very detailed and interesting about best friends and how their past relationships place a huge barrier between their feelings for one another. I am a southerner- so a southern setting is always a hook to reel me in. Bravo for a touching and moving story concerning IVF and the effect the process has on prospective parents. Well done!

Another really good book from Kristy Woodson Harvey, one of the Fab Five from Friends and Fiction. I've read all of her books and while this one is quite different from the others, it still has Kristy's writing and storytelling style.

I feel that she portrayed the subject of "abandoned" eggs realistically, actually I had never given it much thought as I'm not of child bearing age nor did I have any problems with infertility. The storyline was very southern, family driven and sad at times but the sensitive subject matter was handled quite well.

The friendship between the mothers and also the main characters was delightful and makes me wish I had that good of a friend.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It's nice to read a book about people that are flawed but have the best of intentions and there weren't any really mean or not nice people, so that was refreshing.
