Don't Look was a suspenseful read with an intriguing plot and an enjoyable romance.

After a woman's body is discovered in an empty field, victims of a serial killer quickly begin to pile up in Pike, Wisconsin. Each victim wronged the killer in some way and found their way onto their list of potential victims. Kir Jansen, son of the former sheriff, thought his father's ravings about a serial killer were delusions of an old man, but as more and more people turn up dead it's clear that's not the case. And when Kir discovers Dr. Lynne Gale is the last name on the list, he's determined to keep her safe from a madman.

The use of the list by the killer was an intriguing concept that added a nice layer of tension to the plot. Throughout the book there are chapters that are letters the killer has written to Kir's father and it was interesting getting into the killer's head to see the motivation behind what they were doing. The author does a great job disguising the identity of the killer and I was surprised by who it ended up being as I didn't suspect them at all. The killings in the book happen closer together as the book goes on showing clear escalation from the killer which upped the pacing in the book leading to a suspenseful, action-packed finale. I liked how everything was wrapped up and ultimately I found the suspense plot line to be well done.

Lynne and Kir each had a crush on the other in high school that they never acted on. Upon meeting again, their attraction is instantaneous and they had great chemistry. Their romance does move fairly quickly which is typical for romantic suspense books, so that didn't bother me. The two communicate well, the steamy scenes are well done, and overall I was happy with their romance. I will say the one area I had a few issues with was their investigation to find the killer. Neither of the two have law enforcement experience and yet they're able to quickly uncover leads while getting people to answer their questions with very little prompting. Ultimately I think I would have liked it better if the two had to work a bit harder for the information they found or if one of them had a background that would make their ease of finding information more plausible.

Overall Don't Look was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Faceless, when it releases next year.

This book had me surprised. Started slow and I wasn't sure if I was going to find this book thrilling enough but I was pleasantly surprised. I couldn't figure out who was killing women of Pike . I liked following along with Kir and Lynne trying to figure out the mystery. Decent fast read!

I love a good serial killer mystery, but I'll admit to being a little confused by this one. I'll begin with what I liked. The characters were, for the most part, interesting and I also liked the element of mystery with a hint of suspense.

What could have been better? The relationship between our main characters wasn't remarkable. For being classified as "romantic suspense," this couple felt more like an old married couple. Also, the killer's narration often made me feel like J Peterman (from Seinfield) was speaking, a bit eccentric and/or awkward to the point of being comical. And finally, I did not understand why on earth our hero wasn't just a detective from the big city, home for his father's funeral. It just wasn't believable that he was investigating murders, that were current, and that people seemed obligated to answer his questions as if he was a person of authority--when in actuality he was a businessman.

This was the first book I have read by this author, and although I have some criticism, I do think that she is a good writer. I actually look forward to reading another of her novels and hope to make a connection with the next one.

I found it hard to get into this book. I didnt really connect to the characters and I had already picked the killer.

This was a very run of the mill thriller romance. My main issue was with the characters. I didn't feel like there was ever enough character development for me to get invested in the characters or the story.

New thriller from Alexandra Ivy with a bit of romance and a whole new cast of characters trying to solve a murder.

Kir runs his own business taking on tasks that people don't have time to do themselves. His dad is the former sheriff who was injured while on duty. Because of that, he began to drink heavily and become a nuisance. So when he sends a frantic message to Kir about a serial killer before he dies, Kir ignores it. Now Kir is beginning to wonder if his father was right.

Lynne Gale is the town Vet. She had a thing for Kir when they were younger, but she new knew she was never leaving Pike and he couldn't wait to leave. At the funeral, she and Kir reconnect.

The romance in this book takes a back seat to the action and suspense but can still be considered a romantic suspense book. Definitely can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the opinions stated are all my own.

I really enjoyed this book! Suspense from start to finish, will have you second guessing every character involved as the murderer at some point throughout

For some reason, I couldn't get into the story and the characters annoyed me!

Thank you though to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

3 Stars!

Don't Look is a story set in Northern Wisconsin about a serial killer exacting revenge, the leading lady is a veterinarian named Lynne and her leading man is Kir, a business man who's father was the chief of police. The setting was lovely, the characters were sweet, but I feel like this followed the standard cookie cutter serial killer genre. The story was formulaic. That's not to say that it wasn't entertaining and enjoyable. I particularly liked having the serial killer's point of view. I would absolutely read the author again.

A special thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Alexandra Ivy for providing me with an ARC.

This one was good but not like blow my mind away good.

The main characters were likable but everything seemed to workout too easily for them? Everything was laid out like breadcrumbs and I was able to guess who did it by the lack of breadcrumbs towards this person when everyone else had some suspicion pointed at them.

But overall it was good enough to finish.

Kir is home to bury his father, take care of family business, meets beautiful Lynne, then murders begin. I love romantic suspense, and this one is done well. The red herrings are great, the focus is more on the couple than the murders, which is fine with me, between TV and books, there are enough truly terrifying people in the world. A good read, a bit over the top cliff hanger.
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!

Those who love Wisconsin will recognize the description of life in northern Wisconsin. The mystery part of the novel was great . It could have been a TV movie of the week.

This was a pretty solid thriller. It was set in a small town, it had a serial killer and there was some romance on the side. It felt like a lot of other books I've read, but it didn't necessarily stick out. The main characters were all likeable and I liked the setting and the atmosphere but I think there was too much focus on the romance and this took away from the mystery at times. I found the storyline quite predictable and repetitive but I enjoyed the ending, although I did think it was a bit of an over-exaggerated cliff hanger. Overall this was a quick, entertaining read but without the romance storyline I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more.

**4.5 Stars**

Kir finds himself back in his hometown full of grief and regret for the sad task of burying his father. Kir had good intentions to come and visit the man more, but never made the time for him or his theories- and now it is too late. But it is not too late to look into those theories which Kir always found so far fetched, that a killer was writing his father letters. With the help of the attractive and persistent Lynne, Kir refuses to quit before he finds the truth for his father.

This was exactly the way I want my Romantic Suspense stories to be, full of danger and tons of suspects and a nice smidge of heat to build the relationship. I had so many theories as to who was guilty and the motive behind the actions and I am super happy to report that while I had the why correct, the who I did not even suspect. I love being wrong in a mystery because that means it was well written and twisty. The pacing was perfect and the suspense built to a pretty good climax (which resolved a little too easy for me but I am also picky with high expectations so that is on me and not the book).

I have read a ton of paranormal romance from this author in the past but I am very happy to report that she also excels at suspense/mystery (with the romance of course). I will for sure pick up the next book in the Pike, Wisconsin series and I recommend this for anyone who likes engaging, fast paced romantic mysteries, well developed characters and a lot of small town drama.

I received an advanced copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

This novel takes place in the small town of Pike, Wisconsin where Dr. Lynne Gale is a local veterinarian who cares far more for helping all the animals in the community then necessarily being involved with the community. Kir Jansen has returned for the sad occasion of burying his father to a town he thought he had left behind as he made his own way in Boston. Lynne and Kir may have grown up in the community, however, they have never really been friends. Until now when the unfortunate passing of Kir's father brings them together, but not in a happy manner, rather because their seems to be a serial killer in the community now and Kir's father may have known, and Lynne may be the next victim.

A twisty, psychological thriller that keeps you guessing throughout and a delicious splash of romance in there as well. This was a full all inclusive story, however, the author is set to write more novels based in the same town and hopefully some more interesting adventures!

Is there a killer stalking the streets and woman in the small town of Pike Wisconsin? The old sheriff seemed to think so but that has to be the raving of a crazy old man... right? That is the question his son Kir is trying to figure out. His father swore that he was getting letters from a killer but it had to just be some kind of cruel joke, right? Nobody has been murdered... until a murder matching the details of one of these letters occurs. Now Kir has to wonder if maybe there is something more to this whole thing. And if it’s true why is the local vet Lynne on the list? His father tried to warn her, he tried to warn everyone but nobody listened and now it’s too late....

Kir and Lynne team up to see if maybe just maybe the dearly departed former sheriff might have been right. And if he’s right then who is killing people and why? As the bodies pile up and the local police are dismissing the letters as unimportant what else can they do? Other than of course fall for each other because hey sometimes high stress situations lead to connecting in unexpected ways.

I’ve never read work from this author before but I found it enjoyable, I like a good mystery. And I just had to know what all this was about and what any of it had to do with the kindly town vet. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series when it comes out.
