Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of THE MALT IN OUR STARS (Book 3 of the Literary Pub Mysteries) by Sarah Fox in exchange for an honest review. Sadie Coleman is thrilled to meet famous romantic suspense author Linnea Bliss. Sadie managed to book Ms. Bliss for an event at her pub. During her stay in Shady Creek, Vermont, Ms. Bliss and her assistant Marcie are staying at Shady Creek Manor, which once was the mansion of an eccentric. The fancy hotel has its own place in local lore as tales of hidden treasure have rounded the rumor mill for decades. When Marcie dies by sudden defenestration, Sadie discovers that Marcie had been in an area blocked off from guest access and that the restricted area contained clues pointing toward murder. Other mysterious happenings also puzzle Sadie. A television crew filming a feature on local brewer Grayson Blake seems to be the target of a vicious vandal. Can Marcie’s death be linked to either local legend or vicious vandal? Either way, the mysteries will be solved by the end of the May Day Masquerade Ball. With Sadie up to ears in the investigation, will the malefactor or malefactors be unmasked before Sadie becomes a target?

I liked this book. I felt like I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read the prior books. I recommend the book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, vandalism, local lore, treasure hunts, literary themed businesses, pubs, and local oddballs.

The Malt in Our Stars is the third book in the this series by Sarah Fox. It features a literary theme pup owner named Sadie who lives in a small Vermont town.
Sadie is holding an author signing at her pub and when she goes to the local manor turned luxury hotel to visit her, a tragic death takes place.
Sadie tries to piece together how this event could have happened all while dealing with her own personal issues, her grandmother's big news and her budding romance with the local craft brewer.

It was a fun read, although I wished there was more red herrings/side stories/description to beef up the main plot. I wanted to be more invested in the story.

Sadie Coleman of Shady Creek is a breath of fresh air. I immediately loved her personality. She owns a literary pub the Inkwell. She is hosting a popular author for a reading. She visits the famous Shady Creek Manor where the author and her assistant is staying. Things are going great until the assistant is pushed out a third story window. Sadie does her best to figure out all the secrets the old manor holds and solve the case.
This was fantastic with a few smaller mysteries within the main mystery. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next.

Shady Creek's resident Nancy Drew, Sadie is back at it again! At first when I started this book I had no idea it was a part of the series but it's a great series to jump into as the author doesn't have you depend on the previous books.

Sadie is unfortunately present at Shady Creek manor for a murder and assault occurring back to back and instantly she's pulled in to the investigation due to her undying curiousity. This book has a lot of characters but each one's story is laid out perfectly so there isn't much confusion when you're learning them. The small town of Shady Creek is incredibly poetic, between Sadie's literary themed pub, the famous manor, and other small shops you feel like you are placed right into the town while reading.

A great mix of friendship, new love, mystery, and amateur sleuthing all in one!

Thank you Sarah Fox, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There's some shady business in Shady Creek, Vermont, this spring—in the third mystery by USA Today bestselling author Sarah Fox featuring pub owner and amateur sleuth Sadie Coleman. I really enjoy this series and this main character. Great locale and entertaining supporting cast along with a well plotted mystery. Although this is 3rd in the series you get enough background that it reads well as a standalone. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

This is 1st book I read in of the Literary Pub Mystery Series, and I am putting book 1 and 2 on my to read pile. Sadie, owner of the Inkwell Pub a literary-themed pub has been called a nosy parker before and it doesn't really bother her one bit! Great turn page cozy, it has all the ingredients of a great story: small village, old masion, hidden treasure, murder, ... It's possible to read as a stand alone book. Bonus is some great literary themes drink recipes.
Thank you to Kensington Books and Net Galley for the opportunity of a early read.

This is the 3rd installment in the Literary Pub Mystery series. This series keeps getting better. Sadie Coleman runs the Inkwell Pub which is literary themed and Sadie is all excited to be hosting one of favorite authors Linnea Bliss for an event at the Pub. Linnea and her assistant are staying at a local historical hotel that was a mansion and is rumored to have hidden treasure. Marcie, Linnea’s assistant falls to her death from a third story window at the hotel but was it an accident or murder. Evidence of a struggle? There also happens to be a film crew in town to film at the local brewery who also happens to be a love interest for Sadie (Grayson) and some of their vehicles are vandalized. Could it be related? Sadie is warned off by the police as she should know better than to involve herself in the investigation but she just can’t stop herself. She readily admits she is nosy and also wants to solve the crime for her favorite author. This is a good solid mystery which will keep you engaged and not wanting to put the book down and the conclusion is very satisfying. This is a great addition to this series and I cannot wait for the next one.

Continuing the adventures of Sadie, this cozy mystery hits all my buttons. Interesting characters, a solid plot line and some unusual drinks. Kicking back with a Yellow Brick Road and enjoying the story. Don't miss this series, preferably starting with the first book. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

I received this ARC through NetGalley.
I'm a fan of this cozy mystery series already, so it was enjoyable to be back in Vermont at the Inkwell (our heroine's literary themed pub) with all of the usual suspects. The Literary Pub series is very much a standard format cozy mystery with all of the basic 'characters' & situations. However, Sarah Fox breathes life into the formula with natural dialogue and appealing characters that have unique appeal. This book has Sadie organizing her 1st author reading / signing at the pub while a film crew is also in town doing a feature on the nearby brewery. There is sabotage during the film shoot and intrigues between people who claim they've never met. When the author's assistant ends up dead, Sadie and Grayson (brewery owner / love interest) and her friends & family all get involved trying to find out 'who-dun-it'..

There are plenty of red-herrings and suspects and it's a fun easy read. I'm also a sucker for the literary themed food & drinks. Readers will be very happy to know that there are recipes at the end. I'm looking forward to trying the Red Cabbage of Courage dish!

Have read Sarah Fox before so thought I would give this one a try.
I am glad I decided to read this series. I went back and found previous books in series. It can be read as a stand alone, but it's better reading the whole series.
A young woman buys a historic grist Mill and turns it to a literary pub. I love the pub drinks all have literary names. Host book clubs of different generes. A cast full of colorful towns folk.
I look forward to more books in this series.

A hidden treasure! A big, old sprawling hotel. And, of course, a suspicious death. What more could you want for an entertaining read? And, did I forget to mention, a masquerade party where the final drama unfolds!

Well, there is also good writing, a solid mystery and interesting characters. Sadie, the main character, is very relatable and for us that love books, we get to indulge in a bit of fangirling or fanboying with her when she meets her favorite author. Plus, she out and out admits that she is nosy. She knows that she shouldn't be investigating murders--the police tell her that and she is intelligent enough to know that--but that can't stop her inquisitive nature. Such straightforwardness puts to rest one of my pet peeves about cozies, why the amateur detectives are investigating. She and others don't make it that she is better than the police or make some other excuse. Sadie just wants to do this, good idea or not.

I would very much enjoy a stay in this Vermont town and to have a bite to eat in her literary pub.

I enjoy reading about Sadie and her pub. The drink ideas sound great and I would definitely like to try some! This was a solidly written book that carries a good pace all the way through. Sometimes I would like a bit more description of the background to help visualize the setting. The murderer was a surprise to me and I am still trying to decide if it totally made sense. But it was an enjoyable read otherwise.

I was so excited to receive this as an ARC from Netgalley! I have enjoyed each book so far in the literary pub mystery series by Sarah Fox and this one does not disappoint.

Sadie Coleman is relishing spring in her new hometown of Shady Creek, Vermont. She is about to host her favorite author at a book signing at her literary pub, the Inkwell and to top it off, the author is as lovely as she had hoped for. What Sadie had not accounted for, however, was another murder in her small town. Naturally, her curiosity is raised and she has to crack the case herself. This book is filled with treasure lore, hidden passages and enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the end.

I truly love these books. I wish Sadie's pub was real as I would love to go be surrounded by books and the dishes in the book sound scrumptious. I was plotting last night as I finished the book how to make my own Milky Way Gargle blaster (recipe included in the book!). Sarah Fox creates the charming atmosphere I would expect in a cozy mystery, and the book truly makes you feel cozy. I love getting lost in the town of Shady Creek and I very much look forward to the next book in the series. Please keep them coming!!

Sadie is hosting her first author at the Pub and couldn’t be more excited. But when the author’s assistant is pushed out of a third floor window at the hotel, Sadie wants to set things right and find the murderer. What secrets does the manor hold and is it true that a treasure is hidden somewhere inside? Lost of mysteries for Sadie to look into and both she and the town hope the murderer is caught before the masquerade ball that is to be held at the Manor. Will Sadie find the murderer or will she become the next victim?

I really enjoy this series and the idea of a literary themed pub and the drinks she makes are a great concept that sets this series apart from some of the other cozy series I read. The mysteries are always solid whodunits and the characters are all relatable. Glad to see the love life starting to heat up for the single gals in town too. Can’t wait for the next entry in this series.

The Malt in Our Stars by author Sarah Fox, is a well written cozy mystery featuring Sadie Coleman, owner of literary pub, The Inkwell.
Sadie is excited to host her favorite author, Linnea Bliss, at her pub, and she’s trying to keep it together and not go “ all fan girl,” at her appearance.

When a tragic turn of events strikes close to home for Ms. Bliss, Sadie is determined to find the truth, even at the risk of her personal safety.

I found this book to be quite entertaining, filled with clever dialogue and witty characters. The names of the food and drink served at The Inkwell were quite good, and I hope Sadie figures out how to make a Cat in the Hat.
I’ve enjoyed other books by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
I highly recommend this book and this author to other readers of this genre.

We join Sadie, owner of the local pub, a literature-themed one at that, called the Inkwell, on her first visit to Shady Creek Manor Hotel to meet one of her favourite authors, Linnea Bliss, to discuss an upcoming talk at Sadie's pub.

It's not too long before there's a murder and Sadie turns amateur detective to find out whodunnit and why.

Along the way we meet her friends, neighbours and others in the village, as well as a visiting film crew who are doing a piece on the local craft beer brewery, and encounter some unwanted attention. I have to be honest, this was both a red herring, and I don't think it added anything to the story, or needed, unless it was a way to introduce a growing love interest in the brewery owner?

I really enjoyed the flow of the the story and getting to know Sadie and share her observations of other villagers, as well as her natural inquisitiveness. It's not too long before she has a list of "suspects" and decides take a closer look!

That said, there were a few moments where I got fed up of "trudging" over the bridge from the car park to Inkwell, Sadie's pub - I don't think this added anything to the story.

And it maybe just me, but it felt like unfinished business where a young fan, Karidee, was mentioned but we don't hear anything about them later on.

Before I forget, did anyone else make the link with Wimsey, Sadie's cat and Lord Peter Wimsey, a gentleman detective created by writer, Dorothy L Sayers?

All that's said and done, Sadie gets "her man" both in terms of the murderer, and on the romance front too!

Thank you to Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for this eARC.
