A great introduction for beginner cooks to think about how to use their toasters for more than just toast! While this didn't teach me anything new, I thought it would be a great resource for someone who doesn't cook often or is looking to maximize their cooking experience in a smaller space without a larger oven. Authors provided good tips and tricks and the recipes are straightforward and easy to follow.

Everyone I know has a toaster oven, yet they don't fully utilize this excellent cooking tool. This cookbook has so many wonderful recipes, tips and ideas to get the most out of your toaster oven, you'll look differently at every other recipe in your rotation. Toaster ovens.....not just for pizza rolls anymore!!!
I’m really impressed with this cookbook! These are recipes I will actually use. I also love how many recipes feed 2 people - this is perfect for my small household. Roasting butternut squash or making salmon for 2 in the toaster oven is ideal for me. This is one of the better small appliance cookbooks I’ve seen in a long time and one I will actually use regularly.
I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book.. My family has tried several recipes from this cookbook and enjoyed them all
This is a very basic introduction to making everything from breakfast to casseroles using a toaster oven or convection oven. This book appealed to me because I live where it's very hot in the summer and I won't turn on an oven. I don't have a convection oven .The format was laid out well, but not enough visual inspiration. The ingredients were accessible and easy to purchase at most grocery stores or online. There were lots if tips, variations and substitutions included with most recipes. The recipes were not difficult and would suit beginning to mid-range homecooks. There is quite a bit of useful information regarding the actual use and function of a toaster oven, suggested pans and pantry stocking, etc.
The quantity seemed to vary for recipes from serves 4, to 6 - 8.
Thanks to Netgalley, Roxanne Wyss & Kathy Moore, and to Tiller Press for the advance digital copy of "Toaster Oven Takeover".
I have a Ninja Foodi Toaster Oven and I love it! I am often times thinking and saying to my husband that we are under utilizing it. After all, it can toast, broil, bake, bagel, air fry, and air roast. So when I saw this cookbook on Netgalley, I had to have it.
I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but there are several that I plan on trying in the near future. I'm a little picky with my recipes because my son has a severe peanut allergy, so I have to be mindful of ingredients. Plus I have only recently been eating meat at home, he eats meat at daycare but not at home. Lol not too sure why.
I'm a huge fan of cookbooks with colored pictures. I actually prefer a cookbook that has a photo for every recipe because I like to see what the recipe looks like before I decide to make it. I did get a pre-released copy of the book for my kindle and my pictures were all in black and white. I'm guessing that is not the case for the actual published copy. Not all recipes have pictures, only some do.
The recipes tell you how many servings but it does not tell you about the nutrition. I really prefer a cookbook that gives you nutritional information so that it is not a guessing game. I actually haven't seen a cookbook that didn't include that information until. now.
The first several pages are all informational and if you are not used to a toaster oven then I recommend that you read it first. It breaks down the different settings for each one and what their functions are.
Rating: 3 out of 5 because there are not a ton of photos, a little too much information at the beginning for me, and no nutritional information.
Yes, please! Before reading this book, my toaster oven was used mostly for reheating and crisping up leftovers. Now I can actually cook in it! There are so many different recipes I want to try!
This cookbook was kind of a split-decision for me. To start I thought there were some very good tips and some great information included in this book. For those with limited cooking skills or knowledge this is a big plus, for those with a moderate or higher skill level, well not so much. However, if you really don't use your toaster oven much this could be very helpful. As for the recipes themselves, I felt there was a very good selection across a array of categories. On the downside the lack of nutritional information and personally I would have liked there to be more photos. Still as it is I think this would be a very good choice for novice cooks or those that a new to cooking in their toaster oven.
One of the best things I ever did was to toss my old toaster in the trash! Upgrading to a toaster oven has changed the way my family prepares food - and, best of all, has increased my kids' ability to cook for themselves. We use our toaster oven every day, and every bit of insight into how to use it better is welcome indeed!
Roxanne Wyss and Kathy Moore have included many helpful tips, including safety information. The recipes are creative and easy to tailor to our tastes. And the book is easy to use as a resource. An excellent addition to any home where the toaster oven rules!
Toaster Oven Takeover is a useful guide for using a toaster oven for those who are not great cooks. Many of the recipes throughout are simple and not overly creative but would be useful for an apartment dweller who does not have access to a standard oven. As a decent home cook who uses the toaster oven frequently, I did not see any techniques that were particularly new or intriguing to me, but I could see the allure for those who do not cook often or are beginner cooks.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I recently got a Breville Smart Oven Air and it has changed how I cook. I rarely use the microwave anymore as the toaster oven just works better. I use it for cookies, pizza, warming plates before dinner, air frying, roasting vegetables, cooking bacon, and of course, toast.
I thought this book was easy to use and straightforward. The recipes are very accessible to any novice cook who has a toaster oven. I liked the beginning section which explained the benefits of the toaster oven.
However, I don’t feel I learned anything knew in this book. Many of these recipes I’ve made versions of with recipes I found online. Many of them are the same as a normal oven with a few tweaks. I don’t know if I would be compelled to buy this if I saw it in the store. I think it’s a great book and just might not be for me.
We love using our toaster oven and really enjoyed getting new ideas from this cookbook. Our oven is an energy hog and it heats up the kitchen quite a bit - in the summer that is definitely not ideal. So the more ways I can use the toaster oven the better. It covers pretty much all the meals as well as appetizers and breads. The pictures in the book are nice but not particularly plentiful. All in all a great resource!
I like that this book was different and gave different cooking techniques for the toaster oven. There aren't many toaster oven cookbooks, and this definitely one worth it.
The layout and the recipes ideas consisted of some great ideas.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for new ways to cook or cooking on a budget.

In the beginning of the book, the author lists the basics for toaster ovens. This includes settings, toasting and things to have in your pantry. They also give tips to buy a toaster oven and clean it. I appreciate that the authors say the cooking times are estimates. I find a lot of recipes list a cook time, but the temperature of my oven might be higher or lower. This causes the recipe to be either over done or under done. Most recipes also include the convection oven variation.
The recipes in the book are easy to follow and the ingredients are readily available in most pantries and grocery stores. I use my toaster oven all the time but forget how versatile it really is. This book has inspired me to try to use it more.
The recipes for the maple bacon, baked French toast with maple bourbon syrup, and apricot coffee cake in the breakfast & brunch category sound amazing. I cannot wait to try them along with caramelized onion dip, honey bourbon-glazed chops with sweet potatoes & apples, chicken Wellington, roasted garlic shrimp, chocolate caramel pecan cupcakes, glazed apple crostata, southern-style biscuits, bacon cheddar biscuits, and the garlic cheese pull-apart bread.
We tried out a few recipes from this cookbook and the family really enjoyed them. This would be an excellent cookbook for college students or those living in small spaces who do not have room for a full kitchen. There is not reason having room for only a toaster oven should prevent you from making delicious and balanced meals.
This had a good amount of recipes in it with a bunch that I wouldn't have really ever even thought to make in a toaster oven. I have to note that quite a few also still require regular stove cooking. I got a couple recipes from this that I am looking forward to trying, as well as some random ideas. My main issue was the formatting of this. I don't know if it was some glitch in the kindle format or what, but the setup and separation of each recipe was a disaster. Some had the ingredients before the name of it, some after. Some were grouped together with a completely different recipe. It was such a mess. If you can figure that out though, the directions were good and seem easy to follow. While I'm happy about getting some new recipes to try, this isn't a book I would ever buy.
I've had my toaster oven for a while but wanted to branch out with more meals made in it. This cook book fits the bill perfectly.
A good variety of recipes from breakfast to dinner. Pizza, meats, side dishes, sandwiches and so much more are included. Time to get cooking!
Thanks to netgalley and Tiller Press for the inspiration.
We use our toaster over religiously, so this is perfect. It is also great for a tiny home or a college student who might not have access to a full kitchen. I definitely recommend!
Thank you for the opportunity to review this cookbook, Toaster Oven Takeover, by Roxanne Wyss and Kathy Moore.
Honestly, I like cookbooks. I like seeing all the varieties of cooking methods, ingredients, new takes on dishes. When I first requested this book, my initial thoughts were "really, what can I do with my toaster oven that I don't know about?" And I suppose I learned quite a bit about that. I will say that I think I don't know how many I would like to actually follow through with, but this book would be EXCELLENT for those who use their toaster oven often or have a high-quality tool.
Wonderful book to have if you happen to have a toaster over. The toaster oven is such a versatile kitchen aid, and this book shows you all the different ways you can make the most of it! Loved seeing the different possibilities, and I look forward to trying them out myself!
