I had some expectations from this book, since Brigands: A Blackguards Anthology was one of the best anthologies I have read last year. And even if I have to say that this one is not as good, sadly, it is not bad either. I had a really good time with it, and we get to see quite a lot of different characters and world-building.
My favorite story was The White Rose Thief by Shawn Speakman. I wanted to know more about this world and these characters. They are so intriguing, and the story has a haunting rhythm to it. I loved it!
Another interesting one was The Betyar and the Magus by S.R. Cambridge. It was interesting and I was intrigued by it!
The First Kill by Django Wexler was quite good too, and it reminded me that I have yet to read a book by this author. But I really hope to do it soon! I can't say that this whole story agrees with me because there is a thing that I would prefer to be different, but it was a really good story.
And I have to mention To the End by Rob J. Hayes because, even if the story itself wasn't one of the best in this collection, the way in which is told is brilliant! I really loved it!
this was another fun anthology in this series, the stories were great and I really enjoyed the characters in these stories. it also flowed well together.
This was a fantastic collection of short stories, that explored that boundary between right and wrong, with a fascinating array of approaches and characters. Most of the authors in this collection were new to me, and I will certainly be checking out more of their work in the future. Some of my favourite ones were ‘Honest Trade’ and ‘To the End’ – the first left me desperately wanting to know more about the world and the magic but was a complete story in and of itself. While the other one was fun, and further confirmation that I really need to read all of Hayes work, but there wasn’t a single story in this collection that I didn’t enjoy, and I wish that all of these stories could have been longer.
