This poetry collection was absolutely stunning, I already have a copy on my bookshelf to reread over and over again.
This poetry collection is one of the biggest I've read at 293 pages, but every page was pure gold and beauty. A wonderful collection of poems that showcase self love. Usually with poetry collections you get a lot that are self deprecating and and very down putting after love lost. Not in this collection. This collection of course talks about love lost, but how you are a bad a** goddess too good for those that did you wrong. This collection also talks about loving your loves and being in love. It is always so refreshing to read poetry about being in love and having love. Ahh. I just really loved this one so much.
Book Review “Flowers on the Moon” by @iambrillyant
Thank you for the ARC copy @netgalley and @andrewsmcmeel
Billy Chapata uses free-form poetry to convince you, dear reader, that you deserve the space to be unapologetically you. This book is a dose of medicine for the mind and soul that has forgotten how to love itself.
I still can't get over the pure and stunning amount of self love and self care folded into the pages of this book. I would recommend this book to every survivor, everyone who has felt belittled by another, and anyone who struggles reconnecting with the beauty within themselves.
Billy Chapata creates a world where poetic souls dive in. Flowers to the Moon is an extraordinary poetry collection that traverse the world of love. healing. and self-love. Every pages of the book will reflect on how much your mind and soul take everything around you. It talks in a way that Chapata knows what is going on with the reader. A total must-read!!
1.5 stars. This poetry collection didn't work for me. Review to come.
Due to being a high school teacher, I often fall behind on writing reviews. Here are my initial thoughts.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Flowers on the Moon is a beautiful, thought provoking book of poetry by Billy Chapata.
These poems are so beautifully written and are mainly about self-love, acceptance, loving yourself and finding yourself. I could feel the positive mindset and encouragement in nearly every single poem within this uplifting collection of heartfelt poetry.
Some of the poems were almost like miniature stories and I found myself unable to pull myself away from discovering more and more as I read it.
This is a book I highly recommend for anyone who loves poetry or is wanting to start/get back to reading it.
Thanks to #Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for making this collection available to me.
Chapata does a great job likening flowers regeneration and growth to the undeniable strength of humanity, It in some ways reminds me of a quote I heard a while back ' A flower that buds in the storm is a strong and everlasting flower'. The storm can be likened to the trials and tribulations humanity face. Having the ability to work and live through them, is what makes humanity a rainbow to the grey moon.
I really loved reading this collection, I hope you check it out.
this collection of poetry couldn't keep my interest. I was quite bored and I did not like it at all. I was not a fan
I liked this poetry book. The tone is empowering and the poems are absolutely lovely. Some really moved me but others left me emotionless., some were too similar. Overall, it was a quick and pretty read but not revolutionary. I would still recommend it because someone might like it more than I did and maybe find in it their new favorite.
“never let them paint your pain as something ordinary, something common, something unimportant.” - quote from ‘wound palette.’
‘Flowers On The Moon’ is a collection of poems and prose by Billy Chapata. The poems and prose are simple yet capture so much emotion and make you feel inspired. There’s a theme of self-love, self-discovery, as well as heartbreak and healing. I find the poems really empowering for women and I’m glad to see this from a male poet. I marked quite a lot of poems that resonated with me and I think I’ll purchase a physical copy of the book as it would be nice just to pick up and open up to any page when you need a little empowerment.
Thank you to #netgalleyuk for a free ebook of Flowers On The Moon!
Excellent. It's been such a long time since I last read this kind of poem. Modern poems tends to be shorter, which makes me find it kinda lose the nuance.
This is good.
I enjoyed the poet’s collection, Chameleon Aura when I read a #ARC last year so I was looking forward to Flowers on the Moon. I really enjoyed this collection. The poems are very short for the most part, only a few lines although some run into between half a page to a page. If the truth be told, I prefer shorter poems. I find them easier to digest. There are some great long poems out there but I’ve read some that seem almost to ramble. Anyway, themes in these poems are similar to Chameleon Aura; heartache, loss and relationships. I like the style of the poems, almost as if the poet is intimately and directly addressing you.
Have you ever read something and you're just like "yes, I needed that so much"? Flowers On The Moon was that for me. All of the poems were beautiful, encouraging, and so meaningful. I felt like Chapata was speaking to my soul.
These poems are about loving yourself in the present, letting go of the past and having the confidence to more forward in the future. Such a beautiful and well thought out read.
this is my first chapata book. it's a good book. it would make a great gift. it is all about self-love. I screenshot so many poems, this is a good book. I liked it. if you have a paperback, this book can be reread all the time, just open any random page and be showered in self-loving thoughts.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this before publication date!
I love Billy Chapata's poems but Flowers on the Moon took me forever to read. I love self-love poems more than anyone, but this would've been better if it was a little shorter. However, this collection has some of my favorite poems from Billy I've read that I'm sure I will read again when I feel the need to.
I felt that the messages coming out from the peom were really encouraging and motivating. Sometimes i find it hard to review a poetry collection because to some extent, readers are not able to connect to the poems but I thorouly enjoyed the book.

“Clothe her in love but leave her mind naked”
How much I want to enlarge and print these pages so I can hang them in my room and never run out of those little balmy and warm bursts of pure tender sunshine!
More than as poetry, it read as a very beautifully written and put together a compilation of quotes that strove to mend every heart.
It champions self-love and self-care so much, I do think, it might get a bit repetitive for some. I tried to read it over a few days instead of devouring it in a day as I’m used to. That improved my reading experience and made me appreciate the beauty of this little book.
I also very much enjoyed the first part of it-Deimos. Few of my fav pieces were: Guiltless, Empathy, I hope, Question:, Priorities, Bad Blood, and okay, there are quite a many!
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!
