The words of this collection were piercing. I loved the choice of words and how they could speak directly to my heart. It was an amazing read I recommend.

This is a beautiful selection of verse which goes hand-in-hand with other things I am reading now. I believe everyone over the age of twelve should read it. I will be gifting it this year and cannot wait to share it with my readers. My own copy is on order and I will be writing all over it...

This is a book I’ll buy and whenever I need to be reminded that I deserve better or that I’m not as bad of a person as I think I am. So empowering and inspirational, I read some poems twice different days so I can remind myself I’m worthy, it’s okay for my wounds to be open, and to love myself unconditionally. Reminding me and helping me to prioritize myself. I’m truly glad that this book exists
“Youve always felt like you’ve never belonged, but maybe that’s just a reminder from the universe that you belong to yourself before you belong to anyone else”

Chapata beautifully captures personal truths of heartbreak and rebirth in this transformative collection of poems. This collection is a journey towards the future. A lot of these poems are written in very few words, but that does not hinder the poignancy of their message. They are no so much centered on the failures, but the lessons that follow.

However, I did find some of the ideas repetitive. Overall, it was extremely hopeful, leaving the reader with a feeling of success for having gone through these shared human experiences.

Name: Flowers on the Moon
Author: Billy Chapata
Genre: Poetry
Review:
"cutting ties as therapy.
cutting ties to heal.
cutting ties for peace."
This is one of the most beautiful and spiritual poetry collection I have read. The poetries are intricate, lyrical, and mesmerizing. Each poem in this book will make you feel worthy of yourself. This book is like your own self healing process.
Uplifting empowering collection of poetries that advocate self love and self healing process. I liked the exclusive vocabulary used in the poetries, her writing reminds me of Amanda Lovelace poetries. Although they are very different, they contain the same essence in their works.

Flowers on the Moon by Billy Chapata is my introduction to the work of this 'social media sensation', and I must say that I am regretting not discovering him sooner. This is an uplifting, empowering collection that advocates self-love and acceptance, and I devoured each and every word. This is a book that I would happily purchase to share with friends and family, and I can envision myself returning to it time and again to absorb Billy's wise words of encouragement and messages of positivity.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I absolutely love poetry and I am a fellow poet myself. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Billy chapata's Flower on the moon. It is a pleasent poetry book, with simple poetries that could be understood by anyone. While I think that is a plus point, to some people all the joy of reading poetry is the aftermath, the thinking they have to do to get hidden meanings of the poetry. There is absolutely none of that in this book. The poems are very simple so they don't leave a long lasting effect on your mind but create a big impact for a short period of time.
I absolutely love the centre focus of the poems. They are focused around the concept of how loving is not about others but ourselves. One should never ever neglect their own selves to obtain any sort of love because that is not pure love. Also I love the use of flowers and water all throughout the book. It's very clever and creates a good imagery.

This poetry book is more of a pep talk to the reader and I loved that aspect of it. The tone is so casual I felt like I have just been conversing with a friend. I loved how I see myself in most of the poems and how I'm able to reflect more about my life and growth as a person. This is definitely a great read and I think everyone will see bits of themselves in some or most of the prose inside. I just felt warm and understood while reading this book and I hope everyone who reads this will feel the same way as well.

This is a lovely volume of poems. In these stressful times of 2020 it is more important than ever to nurture oneself, and these poems resonate with that message. Filled with strong themes of self discovery and acceptance, resilience, growth and healing, these pieces remind us to value and love ourselves even though we may be a "work in progress."

Oh, I love this collection because of the unraveling of each piece. I've read his previous works and with each collection there's the ringing sound of awareness of coming home to yourself, to love, healing and just freedom. It's beautifully crafted, and I love the references of both deities and the moon and I'll admit I almost missed it, until I got to the third section then it hit me.
In five parts, each section he carefully titles it and depending on what you know or look up, you'd get information on either a moon or a deity. Amalthea was the aha moment for me.
What I love about Billy's pieces are that each word, is like the quote you may come upon online, but when you read the whole collection, you find that there's no way you'd find such synchronicity online. So if you rush, you miss out on the depth and clarity of each piece.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.

Unfortunately, I can mostly just copy and paste how I felt about another Chapata collection into my review here:
This wasn't for me. There are some great images and lines scattered throughout the collection, and generally the messages are very positive and encouraging, but much of the poetry fell into a trap that is a pet peeve of mine in much of modern poetry: it told me, plainly, what message I should get from the poem. Usually as the last line. So many of the poems ended with things along the lines of (these aren't specific examples), "Believe in yourself," or "Just keep going," or the like. That sucks all the subtlety out of poetry, and if you don't have to think about poetry then you're wasting your time. I don't believe every poem should require intense study, but if I can't even pause and see how I feel about a poem without being hit over the head with an explicit explanation of what it is about then something is seriously wrong. Good writing will make me think and feel, not just tell me what to think or how to feel.
I also didn't love the excessive use of bolding in the formatting-- it sucked even more subtlety out.
All of that said, I do think that Chapata is getting better. I still feel like I need to see a lot of change before I would start enjoying his poetry in a significant way, but he has improved since the last collection I read.

A very simple poetry book, with poems full of meaning and emotion. A unique way to bring poetry to the reader. The writing is really amazing, I found it so fluid and captivating. The synopsis already draws the reader's attention, but the content turns out to be even better than we can expect. It's one of those books that is more precious than we can think.

I enjoyed a lot of the poems in this collection. Broken Clocks, (Wisdom only time could teach me), to my future sun:. and inner flame. were my personal favorites. I did start to feel like the themes and ideas felt a bit repetitive.

This is a beautiful book of poetry unlike any other. It left me breathless in how it touched upon so many important subjects of loving and accepting yourself. Whether it's suffering from a broken heart of a significant other, friendships, family, or even broken dreams, I really connected with these short pieces of art. Readings to savor.

This is a thoughtful collection of poems.

Some read almost like short stories. They're poems about finding yourself and accepting yourself and choosing to love yourself.

It's a thought provoking and heartfelt collection!
