Ambrosia Wellington is going to be an IT girl in college, and she's obsessed with making that happen. But much to her horror, she quickly realizes her goody two shoes roommate is causing her to be left out of things by the others in her dorm. Sloane "Sully" takes her under her wing though, taking her to parties and introducing her to boys. Flash forward to ten years later, and Ambrosia has left her collect mean girl days so far behind her that it's like it never happened. Except now, an invitation to her reunion threatens to expose all her ugly secrets.
I wanted to like Amb more than I did, but it's hard to get past everything she did and impossible considering she's still so immature. She barely shows remorse, and it's hard to relate to this former mean girl who, let's face it, is still a mean girl at heart. I didn't see the big reveal coming, but I don't know that it really thrilled me. Still totally worth it for female-focused thriller lovers, though.
The last thing Ambrosia Wellington wants to do is go to her ten-year college reunion. Her first year of college is something she has worked really hard to put in the past. But her husband, Adrian, has been encouraging her to go. And she got a cryptic message in the mail. She goes, but only so that she can find out who is behind the message and try to control the narrative with her husband. Especially since Sloane Sullivan, "Sully" will be there. Even though they were best friends that the first year of college, Amb doesn't trust her at all. The truth of the matter is that Amb was not very nice when she was in college and she did a lot of things that she regrets to this day. In fact, some of the things they did were downright illegal. Will Amb survive the reunion, or will she be forced to pay for the things she and Sully did all those years ago?
My college freshman roommate was a bit of a nightmare, so I was excited to see what The Girls Are All So Nice Here was all about. I found myself relating to Flora more than Ambrosia, though. Ambrosia and Sully were probably two of the worst characters I read this year. Sully was sociopathic, but Amb was no victim and had sociopathic tendencies herself. More than once I wanted to stop reading this book, but I wanted to see who was behind the emails. And really, even that wasn't a surprise. CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS. This was one book I was glad to see end.
Bottom Line - There is often a fine line that authors walk when writing psychological thrillers. With The Girls Are All So Nice Here the line was crossed by the main character we were supposed to feel sympathetic towards and there was no return. There were no redeeming qualities and no payoff for the readers who finished the book. It was disappointing.

⚠️Trigger warning: contains bullying, suicide and mention of rape⚠️
Ambrosia "Amb" Wellington has just received an invitation to the 10 year reunion at her alumni College, Wesleyan. A place in her past that she never had any intentions of revisiting. However, with constant nudges from her husband Adrian and her best friend Billie, the reunion seems to be inevitable. Ambrosia braces for a step back into her dark past, hoping upon hope that her true colors remain hidden from her husband. See, Ambrosia and one of her closest friends at Wesleyan, Sloane "Sully" Sullivan were anything but good natured college students. In fact, they were downright nasty. They were the mean girls. Ambrosia has changed and put the past events behind her. Unfortunately, someone from the past knows something and is determined to get their message across. When notes and clues start popping up randomly suggesting that the truth is about to surface before the weekend is up, Ambrosia not only regrets her decision to attend the reunion, but also starts questioning her past choices. Can she figure out who is behind the threats before everything in her life crumbles before her very eyes?
Thank you Netgalley, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn, and Simon and Schuster for the opportunity to read and review this book. Though I thought the plot was really good, I hated the two main characters, but it was more that I hated how down right vicious and cold hearted they were. The storyline itself was very dark and twisted, which is actually the type of book I love. The story goes back and forth between the past and present day which helped bring the story together. As toxic and revolting as some of the characters were, it definitely delivers a shock value. If you're into dark psychological thrillers I would definitely suggest you check this book out! I rate this ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Two former friends return to college and find someone bent on revenge for the bad things they did.
College setting, dual timelines, and bad girls? This was an entertaining, twisty thriller.
I am disappointed with this book. I was expecting one thing and received another. It had potential but it was not well written.
This was kind of a miss for me. I did finish it because the plot was compelling and I wanted to know how it ended but I wasn’t draw into the characters’ lives.
Although I absolutely detested these characters, I was drawn into their lives and couldn’t wait to see what they would do next. This plot will not be for everyone with the very explicit subject matter of bullying and it’s horrific consequences but I found it to be extremely well-written and it definitely gave me a lot to think about.
I think what I have figured out is that I don't like reading about despicable people, aka mean girls. To me, it became underwhelming, repetitive, and boring, making my brain hurt. This book is "Mean Girls" in college on steroids. Despite my not caring much for this book, it was a fast read, and I kept going because I wanted to see how it turned out. The writing was ok—not terrible. The protagonists were despicable characters, and the ending-totally ridiculous. If I had to chance to go back, I'd probably skip it but maybe this is your type of genre.
Thank you to Netgalley, Simon and Schuster, and Laurie Elizabeth Flynn for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. Sorry it took so long but I put this one down too many times.
Whoa. I wasn’t sure how much I would like this one at the very beginning but the way it’s written had me hooked and I just couldn’t stop reading. Oh the drama! Ambrosia and Sully are two Wesleyan students who are so much worse together than they are apart, and I was so here for it. I can’t say much about this without spoilers and the same goes for the trigger warnings. The dual time lines in this one were written so well and I kept flipping pages to find out what happened in the past and what was about to happen currently. I did figure out part of the twist but it only added to my suspense to see how it would all play out.
Thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this book - a lot more than I was expecting to. It was a solid thriller with a great plot line. I definitely recommend this book and will be checking more out in the future from this author!

*receive for free from netgalley for honest review* i've wanted to read this for so long and it was worth it for sure, pretty creepy lol
This is a Young Adult Psychological Thriller. I have to say the ending was everything, and the twist was so good. I did not love the writing style of this, and that took away for me loving this book. I did like this book, but I had trouble caring about any of the characters. This was not my favorite thriller. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Simon & Schuster) or author (Laurie Elizabeth Flynn) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
This book was SO DARK, but so good. The twists and reveals were all so satisfying, and I will be thinking about the ending forever!! Also, there's just something about a book where you hate all the characters (they are truly all so toxic), but you can't stop reading to figure out what happened. Loved it!
The Girls Are All So Nice Here was one of my most anticipated reads and it did not disappoint. Campus thrillers are al the recent rage and all I can say is bring it on. I loved reading the story from the perspective of the mean girl who wasn't even trying to hide it. Can't wait to see what Laurie Elizabeth Flynn comes up with next. Thank you to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I didn’t like the main characters, Amborsia and Sully. The author did a great job of turning turning you against the especially Amb. She is the type of girl I would shake by the shoulders and tell her to snap out of her trace like reaction to everything in her life. I tried to stop reading several times but the author kept drawing me back. I did enjoy the buildup to an explosive ending.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
my favorite type of story... past and present... what happens when you have to face rhe past you arent really proud of? Girls arent always nice...🙃#girlsareallsonicehere
The Girls Are All So Nice Here by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn is a mean girls thriller, I mean really did you think they would be nice? The story is one that is told by alternating the timelines between the current and past.
It’s been ten years since Ambrosia Wellington had been in college and it’s now time for the Wesleyan ten years reunion. When Amb is reading through the invite however she comes across a threatening note saying “It’s time to talk about what we did.” You see, Amb and her bestie, Sloane ‘Sully’ Sullivan, share a secret of just how far they went their first semester and now someone seems to know.
The Girls Are All So Nice Here began as a slow burn thriller as the story is set between the past and present then felt a little faster towards the end. While I was engaged in this one and wanted to know what would happen and how it would all turn out I did have my guesses and found some parts to be a bit on the predictable side. Overall though when said and done I would rate this thriller at three and a half stars having feel on the likable side of the rating scale.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This was a really great, fast-paced mystery/thriller in the vein of gossip girl and pretty little liars. I was hooked from the beginning, with a fast-moving plot and hints to dark pasts coming up early on in the book.
It has an unreliable/unlikeable narrator/protagonist and that's part of what made the book so great and unique, and I couldn't wait to see where it ended up, it definitely had quite a few surprises, with no character getting out completely unscathed.
A hell of a an enjoyable read, it felt like the juiciest piece of gossip I heard in a long time, keeping me on edge and fully engaged the entire time.
TW: suicide, rape, slut-shaming
