This felt similar to a Riley Sager book to me. I enjoyed it, although the ending fell a bit flat for me - it felt more like a shock factor instead of an actual planned ending. Still enjoyed it though! A solid thriller.

Like most suspenseful thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end, The Girls Are All So Nice Here is told in alternating points of view -- during a disastrous year of college and a decade later, at a ten-tear reunion destined for failure -- keeping you on your toes until the twists are finally revealed. Readers looking for a happy ending, you have been warned, this is not the book for you.

Loved this dark and twisty novel set on a college campus. The surprises were around every corner and kept me guessing and wondering what would happen next. Highly recommend!

This book is very much young adult. This is not
An adult novel. The situations should be read by adults only but the premise of the book is
Something I’d liked more in my late teens , early 20s.

Crazy characters and crazy choices! One bad choice after another leading to large amounts of crazy!

The writing style is good, but it was dragged out and boring in some places.

Overall, not bad for a one time read...

While I enjoyed the book I thought that the characters actions were extremely toxic and disturbing. That aspect of the book rubbed me the wrong way.

However, I think the intensity of the book is what kept me reading because of the shock value.

I think this was a significant amount of trigger warnings for certain people and it may be an issue for a lot.

This was a mean girls-style thriller. I really enjoyed reading this book but was also disturbed by the actions these girls were taking in college and thinking about how these things can happen in real life.

The book follows a girl named Ambrosia who has tried to move on and forget everything that happened in her college years until she starts getting emails and letters about her 10-year college reunion. Ambrosia who is now married and living a successful life has to return back to her college and deal with all the repercussions of the horrible actions she and her ex-best friend made years before. The details are chilling and it is hard to say that I liked this book because it was dark and disturbing but it was very well written.

Highly recommend checking it out and cannot wait to read more from Lauren Elizabeth Flynn.

This story was captivating and attention gripping from the very first chapter. I really enjoyed that the story went from past to present in alternating chapters, it really made the story roll out like a red carpet for the reader. The air of mystery definitely held my attention throughout the whole book. There was never a part where I thought the story was slow or boring. It was extremely fast paced.

All of the characters were so unreliable, especially the main character. The girls were so fake, judgmental, and manipulative, I loved to hate them. I found the storyline itself vey unique, but the character relationships seemed so real to me.

I feel like this was a great depiction of a realistic college experience for the most part. The story itself was very dark and twisty, I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride the whole time. I will definitely be buying myself a copy, I can see myself wanting to re-read this one to see if I missed any clues as to what was coming!

The characters in this book make Regina George look angelic. The antics of “mean girls” reach new heights in this dark, disturbing tale where ambition, desire and desperation lead to destruction. The story is told in two different timelines. The past and present collide when Ambrosia attends her ten year college reunion. What demons have been haunting her all this time? What secrets has she been desperately trying to keep? Is Ambrosia a tragic victim of manipulation or the worst kind of monster? Ambrosia states, “I didn’t know who I was when I wasn’t trying to be someone else.” This book proves that it’s always better to be yourself. It also demonstrates that revenge is definitely a dish best served cold.
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for my ARC.

It's been almost a decade since Ambrosia Wellington, better known as Amb, graduated from college. Amb has put her undergraduate life behind her, and she is determined to stay far away from it. She's now married to the sweetest man and living a good life in New York City working in public relations. When Amb gets an invite to her college's 10 year reunion, she knows there's no way in hell she's attending. However, when an anonymous note arrives stating, "We need to talk about what we did that night," Amb quickly changes her mind and decides to go. At the reunion, Amb plans to lay low so she can get to the bottom of who sent the note so she can move on with her life, but that plan goes south when her ex-BFF, Sully, shows up. 10 years ago, during her first week of school, Amb met Sully, who was effortlessly cool and popular with everyone. Desperate to get on Sully's good side, Amb goes to great lengths to become the center of Sully's attention and, eventually, her best friend. Now, Amb is concerned that what happened that night will get out because Sully knows everything - she was there. When Amb finally talks to Sully, the two quickly realize that they've been set-up and something bad is going to happen - something as bad as what happened that night Amb and Sully went too far.

The Girls Are All So Nice Here is a unique combination of Mean Girls, 13 Reasons Why, and Law and Order: SVU, and, damn, is this book wild. Jumping between Amb's past and present, this book tells a story about a young girl who's willing to go to any length to be accepted and "loved" by others, which is both heartbreaking and rage-inducing. I found Amb to be a pretty relatable character when she's a first-year college student desperate to find friends and fit in, however, the friend she ends up choosing is one that brings out the absolute worst in her. Amb and Sully's friendship is just toxic to the core, making both of them insufferable mean girls who take things way too far. Because a majority of the story is told from Amb's perspective, you see her evolve from a mean college girl to a thirty-year-old mean girl who's just gotten better at hiding her dark side. This was my first Laurie Elizabeth Flynn book, and I would definitely read her again - her writing is detailed and emotional. While I tore through this book in only a couple days because I was desperate to find out what Amb and Sully actually did, I still found the book to be a little too drawn out and on-the-surface. However, this was a great book overall. The Girls Are All So Nice Here is an easy, exciting read that is perfect for summer.

This book reminded me of Mean Girls go to college minus the comedic effects. Ambrosia and Sully quickly become best friends their freshman year of college. They bond over causing misfortune to their classmates, like luring their boyfriends to cheat on them or stealing cell phones and setting the unsuspecting classmate to be exposed. Some of the people they cause misfortune to had it coming, like the guys being explored for playing multiple girls at once, while others are targeted for being too nice or well liked. The book jumps back and forth between then (freshman year of college) and now (the 10 year reunion) with Ambrosia as the main character. We know something sinister happened with her roommate, Flora. Ambrosia starts to receive messages about the upcoming reunion and her husband convinces her to go and bring him along. When they get there, truths about Ambrosia’s mean girl behaviors begin to be exposed including what happened to her roommate, but is someone setting them up for payback? The Girls Are All So Nice Here is a very quick read that kept me interested, but it didn’t have much depth and the ending was not that entertaining. I think more excitement should have been added to the book, especially at the conclusion. Overall, I would give it 3.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review this book. I read this in two sittings! I loved jumping back and forth between Amb’s College years to her college reunion. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen and then all of a sudden it was something or someone else. Highly recommend if you need a quick thriller!

The Girls Are All So Nice Here was a suspenseful ride from beginning to end. The story goes back and forth between freshman year at college to present day reflecting on the events that took place long ago that still haunt our protagonist. The premise of this book reminded of I Know What You Did Last Summer and a much more intense version of Mean Girls. I can't imagine encountering girls as devious as these at school and the lengths they would go to to get what they wanted without letting anything or anyone stand in their way. This book was a page turner and had me wanting to keep reading to know what happened. I can easily see this as a film one day!

The premise of this book was intriguing. It definitely held my attention and I wanted to know what happened to Flora and who was contacting Amb about it. It would be a good vacation distraction and would definitely provoke conversations in a book club. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

I can't lie and say I haven't read books similar to this one before. This will give you the same intrigue if you enjoyed Friend Request or In a Dark, Dark Wood. A reunion that brings back a harrowing past these now-adults would rather forget. This was definitely a thrilling ride. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, so anything with reunion stories has my attention already, and moreso when they're thrillers.

Ambrosia “Amb” Wilson has no desire to go to her 10-year college reunion. She wants to put the past behind her especially what happened one night during her freshman year with her and her friend Sloane “Sully” Sullivan. When Amb receives an anonymous note that says, “We need to talk about what we did that night,” she decides to attend the reunion. During the reunion, her and Sully keep getting more threatening notes, and they realize this isn’t just a prank, but that someone is looking for revenge for what they did all those years ago.

This story is like mean girls on steroids. These girls were so not nice! They were cruel, manipulative, and horrible, and with that said, I loved every minute of this story! Not sure what that says about me, but the author, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn, did a great job of writing these characters in a way that made it hard to look away or put the book down. Sully was the master manipulator, and she made many girls’ lives a living hell. Amb only wanted to be friends with her, but she started to act more and more like Sully, which ultimately lead them to do some awful things to their dorm mates.

The book is told from Amb’s perspective and in dual timelines, freshman year of college and the reunion 10 years later. I thought this was the perfect way to tell this story. It made it more suspenseful as the author did not let on too early what exactly these girls did. It was a bit of a slow burn, but I was hooked from them beginning. This book is evil and disturbing in the best way possible! 4.5 stars rounded down.

Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

A dark and twisty book about a bunch of mean girls who do bad shit. 🤣 Mean girls meets I know what you did last summer. The pace was good, the characters were awful and the alternating timelines worked. Overall, enjoyed this one!

I received this book from NetGalley as an eARC in exchange for a review.

This book is literally unputdownable. I read it in about 3 sittings (mostly because of life constraints and not the book). The characters are not my favorite but they're not necessarily supposed to be likable. The mystery was great albeit a bit predictable. I'm a sucker for a boarding school/college mystery. Give me them all!! Love it! Definitely going to be recommending this one to friends.

The Girls Are All So Nice Here. Except they really aren't.
This is a very dark tale with lots of revenge, secrets, and manipulative characters. Ambrosia Wellington gets an email inviting her to her college reunion. Attached to this email is an interesting little nugget: a note that says “We need to talk about what we did that night”

Mean Girls 2.0 or Mean Girls on steroids are the best descriptions I can come up with. I enjoyed the dual timelines in this book a lot. Unfortunately, the was the most enjoyable part for me. Bullying and revenge are the mainstays of this book. These could be the most toxic characters and relationships I've ever read about. I did finish the book but I wasn't consumed by it. Actually, I found it to be predictable.
