I didnt realsie that I had wateched Hans Rosling's TED talk when I chose the book. Within few pages of the book, I recognised the speaker. How I Learned to udnerstand the World shows how Hans Rosling was an expert at measuring healthcare. His life was also an ethical dilemma of very good care for those who made it to the hospital Vs basic care for all ie public health. You leanr alot about culture change as well working in a culture different from you. You cannot but help appreciate what a difference an interpreter can make when it comes to a different culture. Very accessible and inspiring.
This was somewhat interesting, although I’m not sure it would have been if I’d already read Factfulness..The interesting parts are his conclusions about poverty, development, health and first world cluelessness. There isn’t much in the personal story that pulls me in or is insightful. Although the parts with Fidel Castro were amusing. The language plods along so there isn’t much enjoyment there. On the good side, I now really want to read Factfulness.
