Promises broken but a family found

I'm still fairly new to Tijan's books. But each one I have picked up has been absolutely amazing.
As soon as I dived into this book I was hooked. A completely new world she is introducing us to, with all new characters and crazy dynamics I can't wait to find out all about.

Bailey Hayes has a gift that so few do and it's inherited from a father she knows nothing about. Kashton Colello is a hot, tingle-inducing mystery. They meet because there is someone trying to kidnap Bailey and Kash is the one tasked with keeping her safe. But the chemistry between the two had me taking breaks to fan myself. I often find that this author has fewer steamy scenes than I prefer in my books, but this book delivers in spades. Having an intelligent female who is still a bit socially awkward fall under the spell of such a strong alpha who is probably less socially inclined than she is, makes for an interesting read. This book has twists and turns, all the drama and angst I have come to love from this author. There are so many secrets hiding behind each character, I'm absolutely addicted and can't wait to get more, it can't come soon enough.

Drama from the beginning!!

Well first off we get a kidnapping and the drama just keeps coming. Talk about having your entire truth be wrong.

For me the book was a bit slow at the beginning as the author does an amazing job introducing all the intricate details of the core group. This is book one in a trilogy and it was absolutely worth the introductions. The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Authors Blurb: Bailey is as normal as could be, with a genius IQ and a photographic memory. But still, normal for her. Then, things happen—a guy breaks into her house in the middle of the night to take her hostage. She finds out her father is actually billionaire tech genius Peter Francis, the same guy she’s idolized all her life. She learns all this when she meets dark, mysterious, and electrifying Kashton Colello. He’s an associate of her father’s, and he gives Bailey two choices—go with him and meet her father or survive on her own because those kidnappers are going to try again. It’s a no-brainer.

After this, three things become clear for Bailey:

1. She’s living at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy.

2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa.

3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy.

A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly…

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

"And with that reassurance in my head, I trusted that all would be fine as long as Kash was next to me."

Oh how I loved this book! I was hooked from the very start as the book kicked off with an attempted kidnapping and left me on the edge of my seat. This story centers around Bailey who is the target of the kidnapping and Kash who is helping to protect her from her attackers. Bailey ends up finding herself in the midst of a brand new family and goes through a range of emotions while she is trying to figure out where she fits in. And Kash, he was broody, protective and sexy, all the things I love in my heroes! Both of the leads just pulled at my heartstrings as they both had to let their walls come down. I loved the build up of their relationship and how immediate their connection was. I also enjoyed the Francis family although I was questioning their motives throughout. This book definitely combine intrigue and romance and I loved every minute! Tijan is a one click author for me and I can't wait to read more of this trilogy!

Tijan starts off with a girl being kidnapped right from her room...OMG...this book starts off with a bang!

Through Bailey, we go through the ups and down of a girl who is uprooted from a normal life, while yes, she has a photographic memory, she was just a normal girl. In one night she learns she has a billionaire father and family, her life is on the line, and the rich life is nothing like TMZ makes it out to be.

There is a lot to unpack within this first book of a new trilogy by Tijan, but with that said, it's also a slower paced book, most likely because of the three book overall span. There is mystery, romance, and drama all contained within this new adventure and I'm really excited to see where the storyline is headed.

After Bailey is kidnapped which then forces a myriad of events to unfold in her life, ones she's dreamed about since she was a little girl; meeting her father (whom she thought was an entirely different man and deceased), her half siblings (ones she didn't know she was related to, but due to their fame she actually knew existed), and then ultimately her stepmother (who is supremely cold to her for a multitude of reasons).

The only man she finds strange comfort in is Kash who is mysterious through most of the book in his protective, broody, and over the top ways. Bailey can't place why she feels the need to turn to him, even when he's being so secretive all the time. Bailey is surrounded by all of these new family members, guards, and staff, but Kash is the one who continually comes to her rescue time and again, so if nothing else he does seem to care, but there is also this underlying wonder if he's really doing it for her own welfare, could there be another purpose?

Bailey's siblings, especially the oldest, Matt, is a swinging pendulum of tugging emotions. It's hard to say where on the spectrum to place his loyalty or his true feelings throughout the book. You definitely get the feeling that he's had a tough time as not only the eldest child, but that he too has a tough time with the stepmother, Quinn. That's right, Matt is also a half sibling of the younger siblings living under the roof, so why was he raised in alongside his father and Bailey wasn't?

There are a lot of mysteries surrounding Bailey's upbringing, her genius and memory, and the man she's falling in love with. We only begin to uncover a portion of what's happening at the Francis estate in this first book.

Tijan's one of my favourites in the New Adult Romance genre. Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me and I am so disappointed.

When I first started reading the book, I was pulled in by the mystery. The story begins with an action-packed scene of Bailey about to be taken hostage by some people. Later she is told that she was targeted because of her father. A whole new can of worms opens up for her. Kashton Colello gives her an option to go with him, meet her father and her siblings, and go into hiding for a while in order to protect herself and her mom.

I loved Kash's entry. He is the typical Tijan hero who I am a sucker for. Dark, Enigmatic, Powerful - the complete alpha package. Bailey is instantly attracted to him at first sight. They kinda are antagonistic towards each other in the beginning - and I couldn't wait to see them explode.

Although, from the start, the plot felt disjointed. Everything happens in the story way too quick and it felt more like a 'telling' than 'showing'. I pushed through, hoping it would improve - but some parts of the story are just repetitive and dragged out. As The Insiders is the first book in this trilogy, it is more focused on establishing the world, the players in the field, and the dynamics than the plot.

The premise was interesting in the beginning, but Bailey's character did not improve or develop. Even Kash and other characters felt two dimensional every time they showed up throughout the book. For a Romantic Suspense, I feel this book lacked that depth or intensity.

Even the insta-lust, romantic development was jarring. Kash and Bailey don't really spend time together. There's just this intense attraction that they deny. He is constantly disappearing and they text a lot. Somewhere down the story, he comes back and they just get together. I had to backtrack a bit to see when exactly that happened.

I was so lost while reading; I skimmed through half of it. Kash and Bailey spend half the time rescuing Matt from some stupid parties. Bailey, despite all the setbacks, never developed as a strong character at all. She bumbles her way through, despite being a smart chick. While I initially could connect with her, felt bad for what she was going through, I just didn't find her relatable. The disjointed plot also leaves no room for the character development of others.

There are some points that I found unbelievable - the guards have started to care for her, how and when? Not really sure because I didn't see Bailey interact with them (Not sure if I missed anything), even the handler Marie who started caring for her too?

Now the characters I loved - Bailey's siblings that always made me smile, and her mom Chrissy - such an amazing mom.

The plot turns intense after like 75% but by then I was over this book and the characters. I am not sure if I am going to read the second book but the plot is interesting, and the book ends on a cliffhanger.

My rating - 2.5 stars

A brand new world created by Tijan and it’s nothing short of enthrallingly addictive.

Bailey is thrust into a world she doesn’t belong, and she quickly learns that her expectations of what it was going to be like were far from reality. She’s intelligent, a bit sassy, quirky, and has an incredibly kind heart.

Kash is a swelteringly hot alpha wrapped in endless mysteries, and the ability to share anything personal is encased in cement because this man has it all on lock down.

Kash and Bailey’s connection is palpable from the very first time they meet, and it grows more intense on every page. Every aspect of this story that kept me enthralled from start to finish because while Bailey and Kash’s relationship was a huge part of it there’s a lot more to this story. An array of secondary characters that are easy to love, and others that made me want to gouge their eyes out. Suspense with an air of mystery that will have you turning the pages with bated breath, and some heart shredding angst.

The Insiders had me enthralled in the first pages, and soon I was addicted, I couldn’t stop until I devoured every word. Kash and Bailey’s story is a flawless blend of intoxicating chemistry, an intelligent heroine, a protective alpha hero, a delicious slow burn, mystery, suspense, and angst.

Baileys life is turned upside down when a kidnapping attempt reveals that everything she thought she knew is wrong. The person she idolized all her life is actually her father, she has siblings, a frosty stepmother and she is no longer safe. Forced unto hiding with the family she does now know, she struggles. Except when she is around Kash. Her protector. The one who makes her heart beat faster. Or a computer where she can do what she does best. A great start to a new series. Captivating. Intense. Hot. Secrets on top of secrets. Thrilling. It's got it all. I cannot wait for the next part! It's left me with a definite hangover and an intense need to have the next one in my hand!!

Tijan's flawless, powerful and captivating writing wrapped me inside a cocoon of feels while reading The Insiders. It grabbed me completely from the very first page. It twisted me till I couldn't breather. It drowned me in endless emotions and jaw dropping suspense. And I am feeling all kinds of chaotic and unhinged after that epic cliffhanger.

Bailey Hayes was living a relatively simple life with her mother still some bad people attempts to kidnap her and her whole life is turned upside down. Kashton Collelo comes into the scene and takes her away to the estate of Peter Francis, the tech genius mogul and the father she didn't know she have. Apparently her photographic memory and computer genius is genetic. Here she meets a whole new family. Stepmother. Step siblings. And Kash has taken her responsibility. And she doesn't know how to navigate all these.

Tijan has written some of my all time favourite heroines and I feel this style of her writing strong and quirky femal leads makes her stories so special. This story is written from Bailey's POV and the author wasn't holding back taking us deep into her heart and brain. She is a super smart, witty, sensitive and strong willed girl. And I absolutely adore her. She is confuses. Frustrated. Clueless. Hurt and angry because she missed a whole family. She doesn't know how to fit with an instant family that is uber rich and super privileged. She feels like she doesn't fit and she doesn't belong. But she wants all the love and her siblings are so precious. Different, flawed but precious. Her heart is a warzone and Kashton isn't making things easier. This man. Oh my freaking heart. I just cannot. He is just phenomenal. Bossy. Edgy. Dark. Swoonworthy. Steel and rose petals mixed. If that makes any sense. He has secrets and twisted pasts. He has demons chasing him. And he can be really cold and strict and closed off. But this same man becomes the most attentive, most possessive, most caring, most protective and most intense ever when it comes to Bailey. And it's a miracle. A religious experience really. I swear I had goosebumps and shivers just from reading the way he looked at her. My inside became like melted lava and my heart was so full that it was cracking. The chemistry was insane. Incredible. And there were the plot twists. I didn't see the punches coming and I was knocked out.

The other characters were vividly portrayed and I have so much to say about them. Like Matt, the black sheep, the stepbrother, the party king. Like Seraphina, the shy, the sweet, the stepsister. Quinn, the manipulative and cold stepmother. Peter, the clueless father. And you will be sucked in the vortex created by all the dynamics.

I didn't even know the outside world existed while reading The Insider by Tijan. It's the epitome of epic.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily from the publisher and Netgalley

Tijan is one of my all time favorite authors. I typically devour all of her books and so I was thrilled when I read the synopsis of this novel. There were several elements of the book that I enjoyed and then some areas where I struggled. I positively love this author’s unique writing style. She has such a way of conveying the heroine’s thoughts that I feel like I am present in her mind. This was especially true with Bailey. The author’s characters are always interesting and this even includes the secondary characters.

I also really enjoyed the premise of this book. However, I don’t think it was necessarily executed in the best way, but I’ll get to that later. As for Bailey, I found her endearing for the most part. She is exceptionally intelligent and a little quirky, which are the fun little personality traits that I love. Even with her entire world being flipped upside down, she takes it all in stride and I was definitely rooting for her. The elements of suspense was also exciting. These were interspersed throughout the book, but with the bulk of it during the last few chapters. The build up was well done, but it sort of fell a little short at the end.

I want to say that I loved Kash, but I didn’t feel like I knew much about him. I do believe some of this was intentional. He is mysterious with a proactive streak. The author peels back a few of the layers, but his character was not well developed. I also think this is why I didn’t feel that connection between Kash and Bailey. The physical aspect of their relationship was pretty solid which I liked but I didn’t really see much beyond that. Again, I think this is because not much was revealed about his character. Maybe a connection between them will be more tangible in the next book.

The book grabbed my attention immediately, but it felt like not too much happened until the very end. There were secrets revealed and moments of action which were perhaps my favorite parts of the book and yet the cliffhanger wasn’t overly shocking. Finally, the cover, while absolute stunning is a bit misleading. This isn’t a love triangle as it seems to suggest with two girls and a guy but I honestly have no idea who the blonde is. Even with the lack of connection between the main characters, I did enjoy this book. I especially liked Bailey as the heroine and I liked the underlying story. Yet, I am not certain how the author will get 2 more books out of this. Still, I am invested enough to see how it all plays out and will read the next book.

Writing style : 5 stars
Story/Plot: 4 stars
Heroine Development: 5 stars
Hero Development: 3 stars

The Insiders by Tijan is a different kind of book by this author and I loved it! I devoured it and could not stop reading. I had to know what would happen next. Bailey is just living her life and is content. Then someone tries to kidnap her and everything changes. Suddenly her life is in chaos and she is meeting a family she never knew about. Including the man who is protecting her. The man who makes her burn with desire. But she is not safe and until she is, her life will continue to be in flux.

Bailey is strong and determined, but also a bit lost in her new world. Who can she trust? Kashton, Kash, Colello is a man of intrigue who is sexy without trying. When he enters a room, everyone knows it. What he wants now is Bailey. But he has dangerous secrets that can bring them all down. Where do they go from here? I loved their journey and could not stop reading! I cannot wait for the next book!

Happy reading!

Eeeeekkkkk!!!
Oh my goodness! I need the next book in this series ASAP! Ignore some of the other reviews... this story is awesome! My attention was locked onto these characters almost immediately.
I loved Bailey from the first few pages. I get her... at least ‘normal’ her. Kash comes across as a prick at first, but he will grow on you! And the supporting characters are well written. Matt is a jack butt, but I am looking forward to him (hopefully) redeeming himself.

This one does end on a cliff-hanger which I absolutely hate. I’m not a fan of cliff-hangers - ever! That’s my one complaint about this one. *sigh*

First of all, I love nearly all of Tijan's books. Yes the love connections are fast and make you wonder at times "how'd they fall into such a fierce love" with only two sentences spoken. This book isn't much different, however by the end you realize it wasn't in just two sentences.

The Insiders is the first book in a trilogy. Tijan delivers the strong female lead and the quiet, brooding, alpha Male. It finishes with the small, intense story complete, while the big picture story line continues to the next book. You'll get the slight cliffhanger, yet feel a sense of closure with the ending.

Im hoping the next book shows more of our Heroine's computer hacking abilities and a stronger, more assertive female lead. She depends a bit too much on her hero and I'm hoping she evolves into the protective lioness our Hero deserves.

This book started with a bang and I was hooked. However, it soon revealed the insta-love/lust plot. There was no build up, or tension between Bailey and Kash. The relationship felt flat and there was no romance. The focus of the book was suspense and world building. There were too many characters introduced and many potential story lines which gave the story a chaotic feel. The writing is classic Tijan it grabs you and takes you on a ride.
Thank you to the publisher for providing the ARC.

So when the fallen crest series came out I devoured them. Could hardly wait for each installment. I have enjoyed many of Tijan’s books. But now and then I find one I just can’t get into. This was one of them. I just didn’t care enough about the characters or story to continue the series. The writing felt disjointed and the pacing was off. The romance was insta and never achieved the depth I wanted. Bailey, for all her brains and photographic memory, is surprisingly scattered and dim. And I have no idea about Kash. Just didn’t work for me.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Attempted murder, kidnapping, cheating.

Bailey has known that she's different all her life. With her intelligence, she knows more than most. But when she finds herself scared and nervous after an attempt to kidnap her, she is not sure who she can trust.

Kash is not someone you want to cross. He is alpha male plus some. He wants to be able to protect Bailey, but he also knows that he is also a danger to her. His family is dangerous and while he wants nothing to do with the family business, he knows there will come a day when it comes knocking, regardless of what he wants.

As Bailey adjusts to learning her new truth, meeting new people, and trying to integrate the old with the new, both she and Kash will have to decide if they have a future or if this is all they can ever be.

Tijan really knows how to write the spoiled rich kid well. Bailey's new brother's behavior reminds me a lot of the Fallen Crest High boys. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to see how they navigate what's to come. I hope we get to see them again soon!

With a photographic memory, Bailey is a hacker by trade, fangirling over the world's most infamous hacker turned billionaire, wishing to intern at his company while she finishes grad school. With a flighty mom, Bailey has always been the parent figure in their little family of two, loyalty and love all directed at her mom.

It all goes to pot from the get-go, an attempted kidnapping bringing all the lies and betrayals and evasions to light. Strong and intelligent, with rare bursts of vulnerability, Bailey is thrust into a life she never imagined. Her deceased veteran father was a lie, her true father was unfaithful, her parents creating her during an indiscretion.

After being lied to her entire life, Bailey must now lie to the siblings she discovered, the dirty little secret living amongst them for her own safety. As one of the eldest of a billionaire, the one most like her father, she now has a target for ransom on her back.

Then there is Kash. I won't describe the intensity Kash releases, nor the connection he shares with Bailey, nor who Kash is to the family, because you need to read it to truly appreciate the love-hate, push-pull, raw intensity between the pair, along with all the mysteries it reveals.

Parents of many flavors and siblings of different age groups. The elder sibling brings the melodrama, while the little and middle bring the precociousness and heart-clenching love. The parents range across the gamut of emotions of situations, putting Bailey through the wringer.

Secrets are revealed, betrayals are dealt, panic and terror are felt, all strengthening Bailey from the inside out.

I have no idea if this is a standalone or a duology or series. There is a slight cliffhanger but not necessarily for our narrator. I'm beyond satisfied after reading such a wild ride but eager to learn more about Kash's family ties.

Odd commentary: the term Outlier was used numerous times and I kept thinking that ought to have been the title of the novel, while I don't remember ever spotting insiders. Just something I kept thinking as I read the novel.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars of crazy goodness

This is a fabulously complex and detail intense novel, which is full of drama and tension. The romance is raw, hedonistic, and fraught with danger. I absolutely loved the level of crazy, all wrapped up in the illusion of wealth and status.

Daughter to a single mum, Bailey is a hacking genius, who has fangirled over the owner of Phoenix Technologies since she was little. It is her ambition to work there, but although she has been awarded scholarships, she never gets an internship. Suddenly, a kidnapping attempt which she survives pushes her into the world of the figurehead... who it turns to be her father. It is decided that she needs full time security and Kash takes on the role.

With such a wild start, one might think that we will then get to see how and why this situation arose, and why she was a target, along with some sparks flying between Bailey and Kash – but instead we get so, so much more! It turns out that Bailey has half-siblings and a stepmother, a whole lifestyle that she has no understanding of, but finds herself pitched into, but without being allowed to reveal her identity. And if that is not all challenging enough, she is without her beloved laptop.

As the layers peel back, and we think we understand more, and then we realise maybe we don't, the pages demanded to be turned late into my night. It is most definitely unputdownable, and I was so hooked that I was in that state of not wanting it to end, and yet desperate to know what happens next. I am very keen to read on as soon as possible, as I was fascinated by the level of crazy, of disfunction, and of inter-relationships which seemed to turn and turn about. It was quite easy to identify with Bailey, but Kash is a big mystery, that is for sure!

Enjoy!

This is an addictive soap-style family drama with some fabulous villains and unexpected twists. It is also a sexy romance between genius hacker Bailey and her sexy new bodyguard.

There’s not much that’s realistic or plausible about this story of billionaires, tech companies, and high society family drama. And that’s the fun of it. It’s an exciting but predictable romp. A nasty stepmother. Rich and spoilt adult siblings. A criminal subplot that I still don’t understand. Airport bookshop gold, this is easy entertainment.

I enjoyed Bailey and Kashton’s story and I’d recommend it to fans of DALLAS, DYNASTY, and Danielle Steele.

I am a huge Tijan fan and love her characters development and dynamics, and in this story that was done well. At times I felt the storyline did not flow as smoothly as I’m used to but the plot was interesting enough to hook me and to read book 2.

An interesting start to a new series, I really liked the premise of it but at times found the writing a little bit disjointed? This style usually works so well for this author but I’m wondering if there was maybe too much going on in the book for it to be smooth.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters, and as the story developed it did get better. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the story in book 2.

I cannot believe I got to read this book early! I love Tijan’s books and The Insiders did not disappoint! I literally started this morning and couldn’t stop! So this is a trilogy, and even if it ends in a slight cliffy, you won’t be too tormented.

Let’s start with Bailey. I love her character. She’s strong and vulnerable at the same time but also smart. Love that she’s a nerd and is willing to communicate with others. It may sound silly, but I’ve read plenty books where the h has no communication skills, therefore mistakes and dumb misunderstandings happen and is very frustrating!

It was nice to see the evolution of her relationship with her new family. Bailey’s longing for family was very heartfelt. The way she hurt was very relatable. I wanted to hug her many times!

Now Kash.....ohh boy! I love Alpha males and this one is alll alpha! His mysterious ways had me begging for more, especially his POV. Unfortunately, this book is only the h’s POV. hopefully Tijan loves us and give Kash his own POV in future books.

The Insiders is as if Bennet Mafia and Carter Reed had a baby. It is THIS good! I am invested in these characters now. Cannot wait for the next one!

I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this read. I regularly don't read blurbs and I didn't with this one either. No need, Tijan wrote it.

This might be a new favorite. From literally the very first chapter I was hooked. She threw us right into the plot line and we got to figure it out as the characters did.

TIjan has a special talent for having you really get into the characters head. In every instance you get tor really know how their mind works.

This was no different. I found it highly fascinating being incise Baily's head because she sees the world and evaluates it so different than I would.

Her life gets throw in the ringer from the very first chapter and we just get to sit back and watch as things unravel. From secrets to huge life altering truths, her world is continuously rocked in this read.

As you read you feel the climax building and once that rollercoaster takes the dive just hold on, because you have on idea whats coming.

Don't fret though, we have Kash and he is the PERFECT companion to help us, I mean Daily, navigate the chaos.

Book two ready yet Tijan because I am ready for it@

This was a great start to a trilogy. I love Kash and Bailey’s relationship, which seems to be the wheel turner for this novel.
I found it to be a mash up of Carter Reed and Fallen crest, so I was a little bit disappointed that it didn’t seem completely new. If that makes sense 🙈
But, I am a big time fan of Tijan and I’m incredibly honored that I got a copy of this before release date.
The side characters were great and Kash was everything you want in a possessive alpha man. I didn’t feel the same sort of energy I normally do in a Tijan book, but I’m still hooked. The twists keep you invested through the whole thing and I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you St Martin’s Press and Tijan. All thoughts are my own.
