Classic Tijan - I live for her alpha heroes and strong heroines, and The Insiders doesn't disappoint.
Loved this book! The action! The supsense! The mind fuck! The sexy times!
I loved Bailey and Kash so much. Their chemistry was fire and JFC I just needed them to get it on already! Ugh. I miss them!
I read this book awhile back and totally forgot to leave a review!
I really enjoyed this book and am excited to continue the series! It wasn’t a typical romance book but I did really like the build up! It was very well written and kept me engaged the entire story.
I love this author and have read pretty much everything I can get my hands on. This book was one that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend it and I can't wait to start the next.
Bailey is a young woman that finds out her father isn't the dead military guy but a rich billionaire tech guy. Everything about her life is turned upside down when kidnappers try to take her. Kash is the guy who breaks into her room and gives her a choice to go with him or stay for the kidnappers. He is her bodyguard when she gets to her father's estate. She also finds out she has three siblings. A secret could turn deadly for someone in their family.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.
I volunteered to read and review a readers copy through Netgalley of The Insiders . This is the first in a new romance trilogy . This story is full of action, suspense and romance . It has twists and turns . Quite a rollercoaster ride . This story is sensational. I could not put it down . The characters are unique and interesting . This is such a well written intense story . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
This was a good book! Not at all what I was expecting from Tijan. It takes a lot to surprise me since I read so frequently, but this one threw me for a loop, in a good way. Can’t wait to read more.
Bailey Hayes is 22 years old and just about to start College. She lives with her mother Chrissy, a nurse and there were just the two of them, it had always been that way, but things changed in an instant when she was nearly abducted, she was just about to find out that her Father was alive and well , just not the one she was brought up to believe was dead, and she had a large family that she knew nothing about. Her Father was Peter Francis, CEO of Phoenix Tech, a Cyber Securities Company and just like her Father, Bailey had a Photographic memory and now there were people who wanted her for it and now she had to make the biggest decision of her life. Stay and meet her Father and siblings or leave and go into witness protection with her Mother.
If I could give this book 10* I certainly would. I have quite a few books by Tijan but had never read them until I read this one and let me tell you, I definitely wanted the sequel so badly. This then started me on a Tijan reading spree and I have enjoyed each and every one I have read so far.
Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin's Press, St Martin's Griffin for the opportunity to read and review this book, one of my favourite reads of 2021.
this was a great start to a series, it wasn't a typical romance novel and I appreciated that. It was so well done and kept me invested.
The first book in a new trilogy from Tijan and I am invested but not hooked quite yet. So all new characters Bailey, Kash, Peter and the rest of the Francis family in this new world. The story is a mix of intrigue and mystery but also a budding love story.
Our first meeting with Bailey sets the tone of the book, the storyline is fast paced and little by little draws you in. I have a theory about that first meeting which I'm interested to see if it will prove correct. This is the world of the uber rich and powerful who all have so many secrets I'm surprised they remember their names. Kash is mysterious and although we slowly learn more about him I have a feeling there is still more to uncover. Bailey is very intelligent she really is her father's daughter but is he going to throw her to the wolves or welcome her to his messed up family.
I liked the secondary characters who add an extra layer to the storyline. Some of the scenes could be a little OTT but then you remember this is the world where money can and does buy you anything with fixers to right all your mistakes. I enjoyed all the twists some were a surprise and some I had guessed. This is not a typical cliffhanger ending as some aspects of the storyline are resolved but it does open the door for the next part of Kash and Bailey's story.
This is an ARC review. Tijan does it again. She grabs you by the first sentence of her book and she just reels you in with each turn, or swipe, of the page.
I loved The Insiders. I love the mystery and suspense as well as the angsty build of the relationship between Kash and Bailey. I love how Tijan really pays attention to how she develops The characters and their relationships. Each word she writes has a purpose to the overall story.
I will say for most of the book I really though Chase and Kash were the same people and I hope we find out more in book 2
Wow, intense and nerve-racking! Non stop action and emotional hits, this book is a real page turner. I was slightly hysterical, slightly stressed out, with heart palpitations and throughly thrilled by this book. I kept reading into the night, because this is one unputdownable book!
The action is never ending, you need to keep on turning pages to know what happens next and I have to confess to a little page skimming, I was so stressed out about knowing. I loved the characters in all their variations.
Bailey is your typical nerd with a genius brain, sometimes too literal, not very well versed in social clues, but very observant. Sometimes her mind goes off into a brain computer daze and it means that she’s analyzing and joining dots into conclusions. With all that, she’s a loving daughter, once she knew her siblings she adored them, and she was a drooling idiot in the presence of Kash.
I loved how the author wrote the storyline between Bailey and her father. I loved their initial silent encounters, her insecurity where he was concerned, his lack of visual contact with her, the subtle hostility from his wife. There was anger and resentment because she felt abandoned and ignored by her father. Poor Bailey was initially stabbed from all sides and there were a couple instances where I cried with her.
I loved how much she loved her siblings and how much they welcomed her. They were very verbal in their acceptance. Matt was a sometimes ally, other times enemy but you could see how in time he grew to respect her and not resent the fact she’s the one who most resembled their father in her eye color, hair color and genius brain.
The fact that there was a menace against her caused a constant thrum of suspense; the emotional turmoil caused by all the family issues caused an edgy sense of awareness that not all may be as it seems; and the sexual fireworks with Kash were dynamite moments of yummy sexy times. Bailey was a strong woman and she managed and endured all that was thrown at her. She repeatedly fought against tears, assuring herself that “Hayes women don’t cry”. And yet, she has a few breakdowns, totally deserved because this new life got really hard sometimes. And in spite of the angst, there are little snippets of humor, very comical and welcome, since they balance the moods.
The action went on in a steady, edgy, hard pace until a plot twist, action climax and spectacular cliffhanger. The danger continues, but this time I think it will be triplified and I can’t wait to read the sequel! When you get to the end, there’s a feeling of, woooo, that was some trip! Totally recommend!
This is not my first Tijan book, and in general, I'm a fan. I'm not sure why, but I struggled with The Insiders. I was confused and it seemed like the character's personalities changed very quickly, within the same paragraph they were completely different. The pacing felt a little slow. I kept waiting for something to be revealed, for things to start come together, for the twist. Unfortunately, I wasn't really interested until chapter 55, 57 is the last one in the book. This book has tons of great reviews, a lot of people loved it, it does have mystery, plenty of family drama, and eventually a pretty good twist. It just didn't do it for me, maybe the past books I've liked were a combination of Tijan's writing and the magic of Savannah Peachwood, Lucy Rivers, and Jason Clarke. I do realize it's a trilogy, so it did end with a small cliffhanger. Maybe things really start to come together in the second book.
Tijan took me on a ride and I wasn’t ready to get off. I loved the way this story was built with Bailey slowly getting introduced to the characters and quickly finding herself emotionally attached to most of them. The banter between Bailey and Kash was top notch and Kash’s exchanges with Matt also made me giggle. I thought Emma Galvin embodied Bailey very well, showing how obviously uncomfortable she was in this new world at first and how she grew in to a formidable person that anyone should reconsider picking a fight with. I am excited that we get to go back into this world next yea
Hooked from start to finish!!!
This start of the trilogy is gonna leave you wanting more. The drama and secrets are gonna have you hanging on and the angst oh, the angst that Tijan delivers is always the best.
Kash is my new man, this bad boy is like nobody else!
I cannot wait for more of this story.
Five amazing stars
The Insiders by Tijan is about Bailey. Bailey is a genius with a photographic memory. After she is taken hostage, she finds out that her father is actually the billionaire tech genius Peter Francis.
I really wanted to like this book but it just didn't work for me. Bailey was not an interesting character and I didn't like the relationship between her and Kashton.
This complex story line continued to get more intriguing and every time time I think I had an answer to a question I also had five more questions.
Bailey is learning her world is bigger than she thought. She has to learn to navigate all these secrets to find a balance from her new and old world. She is also smart and strong and develops a strong connection with Kash.
Kash character is strong, intense and demanding yet has a sweet side that only Bailey can bring out. These two are an unlikely pair that you just can’t help but hope for a HEA.
A book I couldn’t put down and can’t wait for more.
I really enjoyed this first installment of Tijan’s new series. Bailey’s life as she knows it is changed in an instant. I won’t say too much because I don’t want to spoil another’s reading experience. The chemistry between Bailey and Kash is undeniable and I cannot wait for the next book.
This is Why I Like Tijan...
Granted, I haven't read a book from her in a while, but I was a HUGE fan of her earlier writings. Fallen Crest, Broken and Screwed, Jaded, Brady Remington...I can go on, but won't. There is a certain style she has when bringing a story to life with a nice handful of characters that are just as interesting as the main characters and that is exactly what she did with The Insiders. There's a whole lot more than romance going on in this book.
We are introduced to Bailey and Kash, two very different people from very different worlds, thrown together under very different circumstances. That's another thing Tijan can pull off, the unbelievable world of the rich and famous. Bailey's father is a billionaire that lives a life she has never been a part of, until now. Kash is an associate of her father's and his one and only job now is to keep Bailey safe. All she's ever wanted is to meet her dad and now that she has, it's nothing that she dreamed it would be.
Kash was a mystery and the more I read, the more I wanted to know about this guy. While he was an associate, a lower level player if you will, he had moxie and a lot of it. So much that the billionaire dad took his cues from the guy we don't know much about. I liked Kash and Bailey from the get go. Maybe it was because they were so far on the outside of the rich and famous. The rest of the family was hard to take. You know why they are the way they are, but man, they were still super annoying.
While the blurb pretty much spells out the gist of the book, it's all in the details, something Tijan is a master of. She has us completely invested in this entire family, so much so, that I wasn't ready for what was really going on around them. There were a lot of moving parts and stuff to try and figure out and I enjoyed every page of it.
The book is well written and I will have to say that I do miss this girl's writing. It's been too long and completely my fault. The Insiders has tons of action, drama and angst going on and more to come. I didn't realize this was the first in a trilogy, so of course there is more story to tell and more questions to be answered and I'm sure, more interesting characters to meet.
The Insiders is book 1 in a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. There are secrets upon secrets with these characters and it seems that no one is really who they appear to be or they are always hiding anterior motives. The secrets and suspense did keep me intrigued, although the book did feel slow at times. In the end, it felt like a lot of buildup with not enough of a bang. I generally always love Tijan's books (she is one of my one-click authors) and I did still enjoy this book, but it felt like there was something lacking in it. The deeper emotion that is usually in her books just wasn't there for me and I had a harder time connecting than I normally would.
Overall, the plot did hold my attention and I did enjoy the story and the characters. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series to see what other secrets are revealed.
