This is an honest review for an arc received.
“You make me want to forget the world.”
This book was action packed right from the very start. This review will not be as detailed as usual, because I don’t want to give anything away. I love Bailey Hayes! I mean who doesn’t love a seriously smart, we’re talking genius level smart, techie who has her normal mundane life turned upside down after one fateful night.
“I fell in love with you before you even knew me.”
Kaston “Kash” Colello is a hot and mysterious guy, who’s watched Bailey from afar for a while. Don’t worry this is all explained. Kash is keeping secrets of his own, knowing his day of reckoning is on the horizon. What neither of them realize is how fast they fall for each other. Kash does his best to resist, but he can’t help but fall for Bailey. His need to protect her from any and everything was amazing. Even though he has his own major issue, he still puts her safety above himself.
5 action packed stars! I loved every book Tijan writes. This book, to me, was nothing like her other books. You will be immersed in a hacker’s world, and it blew my mind. I love all of the characters we meet, the secondary stories, and all of the unanswered questions that I want the answers to. I devoured this book in a day. I could not put it down. Now to patiently wait for book 2.
This is filled with drama, mystery, suspense and romance. I think this is going to be an explosive trilogy. I was hooked right from the beginning. Bailey and Kash were amazing and undeniably hot together. This one ends in a cliffhanger so I can't wait for the continuation to their story.
This book was amazing and somewhat different from what we usually get from Tijan. This book is a bit on the lighter side of “Cole” and “Carter Reed” mixed with “Kian” and some good old love/hate romance. I’m hoping there is another book coming out! I believe this is a trilogy but I can't remember if I've seen anything posted by Tijan confirming this. But I'm pretty sure there will be another book (yay)!! I, personally, have many questions but for the sake of ‘spoilers’ I will not divulge in any of these. This story is straight up intriguing and I want more! There were a couple of twists that I didn’t expect and some turns that I want to see where Tijan is leading us too. I’m hooked on this book.
Bailey - I love her. I love hacker heroines because they always remind me of some of my favorite TV show characters. She has a lot to learn. (Another reason I hope there is another book coming!) She was quirky in the best of ways, wise in some ways but naive in others. However, she seems like a curious person to begin with so I’m surprised that she didn’t do more “investigating” because I know that if I had half of the skills that she had, I would want to know every. little. thing.
Kash - This guy was mysterious in the best of ways. I’m not sure how I feel about him but so far, I like him. There wasn’t too much of the lovey dovey, I-can-see-them-as-a-couple but I’m hoping more romance is to come. But the characters so far seem to match we just haven’t seen the whole picture yet. If you are a Tijan fan, he reminds me of “Cole” protectiveness, with “Carter” level possessiveness and a hint of “Kian” I-will-do-anything-for-you. So the perfect bad boy that fits a non-comforming hacker like Bailey.
If you are hesitating, don’t. If you are a fan of Tijan, you won’t be disappointed. I’m a huge fan of Tijan but I know that if this was my first introduction into her writing world, I would be just as hooked.
I enjoyed the story, I liked the characters but there was something missing for me. It was well written, it was a page turner, the story flows, it was well put together. I think I didn't feel the lust, attraction and love between them in this book.
💻Ok, so this was serendipitous; one of my book groups last week asked the question, "what author have you been wanting to read but haven't?" I responded Tijan, her books looked exciting, but I just hadn't read any. The next day The Insiders ARC drops on my Kindle to read. Excitement ensues, and I sit down to read. Much, much later--I had finished my first Tijan book, and I am HOOKED! This book was all my catnip (booknip?) merged into one HUGE ball of reading nirvana that I could NOT put down. It's suspense, steam, brainiac computer genius girl, growly grumpy but oh so swoony guy, adorable kids, and shady characters that you don't know if they are good guys or bad guys.
The pacing of the book was terrific, each scene moved to the next smoothly, and the story just flowed across the pages. The characters were believable and had depth, not just the main characters but even the side characters. Bailey's character has wit, and she's brilliant. The situation she's in has left her feeling like an outsider, and inside is all she's ever wanted. Family is a huge theme in this book; whether single-parent or dysfunctional being a part of a family and how that resonates with you drives the plot.
The cliffhanger (IMO) at the end gives hints at the direction of the following two books in this trilogy, and they look to be even more suspenseful than this book. However, the team of Kash and Bailey looks to be quite formidable, and I am sure those books will join this one as one of my favorite reads of this year.💻
The Insiders is the story of a young woman who discovers her life has been a lie. Her father isn't the dead, decorated military man she thought, but instead the man she has idolized from afar. And now, being his daughter is going to get her killed if she isn't careful.
The story has all the elements I enjoy about a Tijan book: a little angsty tension between the leads, some drama llama, and a quick pace. I am curious to see where she takes this series. Its a bit more mature/darker than her Fallen Crest series, but not quite as dark as her mafia series, so I think there is going to be a lot of broad appeal in The Insiders. I liked Bailey-she is a genius (literally) and has a good head on her shoulders. She isn't mean or catty. Kash, the hero, is a classic brooding protector (and I'm totally down with that) and he is all about the job (protecting Bailey) but is totally in love.
This is book 1 in a trilogy, so there is an open ending, but it kind of felt anticlimatic. It was almost like it just sort of...stopped. Normally when I read a book in a known duet or trilogy, there is some major THING at the end of the early books, but The Insiders didn't feel that way. It felt like a to be continued more than a cliffhanger; honestly, I think this was better for me since I don't really like cliffhangers.
wow! wow and wow!!!!
Tijan has yet again left me in total awe of her talent!!!
I instantly loved Bailey, a young woman catapulted into a life with A man who was her idol, who it turns out is her father and brothers and sister she never knew she had.
A life where she doesn't belong nor is wanted. But an attempted kidnap has her now living in this surreal world. Her anguish and turmoil easily had me gripped. Kash her fathers associate was also someone she just could not ignore. The chemistry was on FIRE !!!
This complex family and characters had me glued to the pages, and each page had me on edge wanting to know more. How many secrets and bombshell's could she navigate. Her brother Matt, the black sheep and boy is he messed up, her little bother and sister are sweet yet jaded to this millionaire life style, their perfect mother Quinn. Her father, a man who well lets just say aloof and distant !!!
Kash omg he just melted me, he's taken responsibility for her safety and her heart!!!
The cracks soon show on this complex family and not all is as it seems !!!
I just couldn't get enough, so many twists and turns.
There are so many emotions hit you with this book, a young girl wanting to be accepted and loved by her family, bitterness and jealousy, love and hope, secrets, lies, and a growing love. And through all this, as Bailey and Kash's relationship grows, i know this is a couple who will own your heart !!!!!
Yes! Yes! a thousand times yes. This book....fantastic doesn't even describe it. I was so happy to jump into this book and not look back. Told in Bailey's pov, this book does such a good job of world building, and character development. The world was visceral, it was almost tangible. The chemistry with Bailey and everyone else is phenomenal. This is a very character driven story, with some twists thrown in.
You feel for Bailey, with her situation, but she isn't a push over, she is a tough cookie, and I like to see that. no simpering miss here. Obviously there are going to be things that cause stress to relationships, and this book has them. Never one to miss with her wonderful book, this author is a must read.
i LOVED THIS BOOK. it was twisty, it was unexpected, it was all the things i love so much from tijan. there was so much that kept me turning the page, but the romance was sooooooo good i couldn’t even fathom not finishing it in one sitting.
The Insiders is the first book in a new trilogy by Tijan. An intense and emotional story told by Bailey Hayes, whose life changes one night and it leads her to meeting the enigmatic Kashton Colello. The plot is complex with all the characters involved in some way. Lots of mystery and intrigue with the main couple attempting a relationship while trying to stay safe.
Bailey is a computer genius with a photographic memory. She is studying hard and lives with her mother. When men break into her home one night to try and kidnap her she finds out her father is Peter Francis, the tech genius she has idolised since a child. She is given the choice of going into the witness protection scheme or be protected by her father’s security team. Bailey suddenly finds herself in a world of luxury and riches, one she has never experienced before. Peter Francis is married to Quinn and they have two children, Seraphina and Cyclone. He also has a son Matthew from his first wife. She wants to be excited by meeting her father and his family but they treat her as a problem none of them want.
The love story starts when Bailey moves into Kashton’s villa on her father’s estate for her safety. He is gorgeous and she felt the attraction to him the moment they set eyes on each other when he gave her the ultimatum about her future. Kashton has lived with the Francis family since his parents died. He is head of security and protects the family, especially Matthew who loves to party.
The whole story is based on secrets as every character in the book has them. Some are revealed, some hinted at and loads are left up in the air. It starts with Bailey not being acknowledged as Peter’s daughter. Kashton gives her a cover but the whole family is suspicious, particularly Matthew who does all he can to get to the truth.
To me the whole family have issues and are damaged in some way. The author slowly divulges bits and pieces but I think there is a lot more to come. Peter is obviously impressed by Bailey’s skills but can’t find a way to get to know her. Quinn is just full of resentment towards her. Matthew is a typical entitled rich boy who enjoys using people and doesn’t seem to care about the consequences of his actions. Seraphina is shy and under her mothers control. Cyclone is a handful but I found him to be hilarious.
I absolutely adored Kash and loved how protective he was of Bailey. Full on Alpha and possessive! He is so mysterious and certainly has his walls up so I wonder if she will ever break them down. I felt awful when things started to get out of his control and we found out some of why he is so closed off. I thought Bailey was amazing for putting up with all she did and continued to show respect and friendliness to her new family. The chemistry between the pair is obvious from the start but is a slow burn as things and people constantly get in their way. I think they are perfect for each other and can’t wait to see how they cope with all that will be coming their way.
I knew the author was building up to a big climax and in fact she gives us a few to lead into the next book. I had an inkling about one and expected another but was nicely shocked by the twist near the end and the motive behind it all. I like that way I have been left with so many theories over everything that happened and wonder what other secrets will come to light. Although the author has answered some questions, she leaves us with loads of loose ends ready for the next book which I am really looking forward to.
I usually love Tijan, but this book read like a unedited first draft. I won’t be adding my reviews to Amazon or goodreads so that the book’s score doesn’t go down. Thank you for the chance to read it and I’m so sad it wasn’t for me.
right off the bat i was incredibly intrigued by the story. I was hooked. the book started of with a huge bang, and it would hard NOT to be intrigued by this story.
The drama in the insiders was so interesting. the instant chemistry and tension between Bailey and Kashton was so apparent and hot. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times while reading this book.
what was also incredibly interesting was the dynamic between kash and peter! after around 50% i started to feel like there was too much going on. there was a lot of moving parts but it made the story engaging and interesting.
this did leave off on a cliffhanger so i am excited for the second book!
This was completely over the top with an alpha hero and some typical NA dramatics, but it was still a fun ride. I loved the fast and wild staccato beat to the story-telling. That, and the potential threat with each new character introduced, kept me turning pages. I also really liked the heroine. A big plus for me when it comes to new adult lit. I had all but stopped reading this particular genre, but it's a fun departure from my recent historical and women’s fiction reads. There were some inconsistencies, a little convolution, and a few unintentionally silly moments that occasionally stood out or distracted, but mostly overlooked, since I was having a lot of fun. Knowing this was book one of a trilogy, I was pleased that it ended with a HFN. But I emphasize the phrase "happy for now."
The Insiders sucked me in from the very start and it constantly kept me guessing. The twists and turns are wonderfully unexpected and even when I thought I predicted the next turn I would find a completely different outcome. Author kept the characters alive and open to the changes that took place. They were loveable, complexed, and entertaining.
To me this book was more about the thrill rather than the romance, but when there was some, it was fiery!
Hard to put down! Great character development. Great story. Lots of twists and turns. Another terrific Tijan story!
This was a solid book. I really enjoyed the relationship between Kash and Bailey, as well as Bailey and Matthew, Cyclone, and Seraphina. This is where the strength in this book lies.
But I felt like the story itself wasn’t entirely formed. Characters pop up and aren’t explained. There’s also a lot of them.
Also, nothing is entirely explained, like what Bailey’s father does, what he’s involved in, why all these things are kicked off to begin with.
But it is intriguing and I have hopes for the trilogy.
I will warn that it does end in a cliffhanger though!
Mama Mia, that was quite a tale to tell. I'm still reeling from the final nail in the coffin. Some visitors just shouldn't bother!
Holy hotness everyone!!! Kash is maxed out on everything!!! If I were to rate him as a credit card, he'd be the titanium black Amex card but only because I have no idea what the next level is!!!! No limits ever. Kash is the kind of man you will literally have to wipe the drool off of yourself upon meeting. It gets worse!!!
Once you get to know the mysterious and (bites fist in horny delight) absolutely irresistible man, all bets are off. Panting like a dog in heat when he enters a scene should be proof that Tijan took it too far but nope. That is the magnetic field that surrounds Kash.
I would say Kash is Cole and Mason on a vengeful path. I am absolutely sure that if Tijan printed his shopping list, it would be lucrative. (FANS SELF)
The Insiders is a fun and steamy escape. It is very Cinderella with a whole lot of dark underbelly. Rags to riches with a threat of more.
Please, oh please tell me there will be more!!!?!?!?!?!?!?
4.25 stars--THE INSIDERS is the first instalment in Tijan’s contemporary, adult THE INSIDERS romantic suspense series focusing on twenty-two year old computer hacker Bailey Hayes, and fixer Kashton ‘Kash’ Colello.
Told from first person perspective (Bailey) THE INSIDERS follows in the aftermath of an attempted abduction of our story line heroine. Bailey Hayes has a genius IQ, and will come to learn she is the illegitimate daughter of billionaire Peter Francis, and as such, has a target on her back but to Bailey’s surprise, she has one of two options, and the lesser and safer of two evils is to move in with the Francis family where she will become the object of ridicule, the subject of gossip, and the lover of the Francis empire ‘fixer’ Kashton Colello. All is not well with the Francis family dynamics, and our heroine will be caught in a fire-storm of power and control, jealousy and revenge, hatred, betrayal, acceptance and love. What ensues is the building relationship and love between Kash and Bailey, and the fall-out as the enemy is closer than anyone could have ever imagined.
Kashton Colello has some secrets of his own but his biggest secret is about to be exposed. Raised by the Francis family in the face of losing everyone he loved, Kash has more power and control over the day to day lives of the Francis family but he is about to lose the upper hand as the enemy comes from within.
The relationship between Kash and Bailey begins as an assignment, a duty that Kash has appointed himself as sole authority and control. Bailey is immediately attracted to her savior and guardian but Kash battles between head and heart knowing his past is determined to take down and destroy everyone he loves.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and broken secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Bailey’s mother Chrissy, and her half-siblings: Matt, Seraphina and Cyclone; her father Peter Francis, and his wife Quinn, as well as an assortment of Matt’s friends, security personnel, and Kash’s ex Victoria. The requisite evil has many faces.
THE INSIDERS is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, family, relationships, murder and money. The character driven premise is intriguing, engaging, heart breaking and dramatic; the romance is seductive and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text; the characters are damaged, spirited yet powerful and strong. THE INSIDERS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I went into this novel with high expectations, and holy hell Tijan delivered!! From the suspense-filled vibes to the swoon, I was invested!!!
In My Own Words:
Bailey is just a typical girl with a genius level IQ and a photographic memory. She’s her mama’s pride and joy and her hero is the father who died for our country. Now she’s on the cusp of finally seeing all of her dreams come true…
A near kidnapping brings the missing pieces of Bailey’s life to the surface and she comes to the realization that everything she grew up believing about her father was a lie. Including the man himself. Never in a million years would she imagine the mogul she idolized as a child was the man who had actually fathered her.
Now a group dead set on taking down the billionaire computer genius is after Bailey, and there is only one man who can save her. Kashton Colello. Will Kash’s secrets be too much for Bailey to take. Or will these two ride off into the sunset happily ever after…. Only time will tell.
My Thoughts:
The Insiders is a deliciously dangerous tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat suspended in mid air! I never wanted this novel to end. I wanted to continue living in the world of deceit and destruction! The Francis family keeps their secrets close and their lies closer. This life of luxury looks flawless to the outsiders eye… until the outsider becomes one of the insiders.
One of the greatest things about Tijan’s novels and her writing style… the characters! I loved the depth she brings to each and every character. These fictional beings feel real, so to say I fell for Kash and Bailey at the start would be an understatement.
Bailey, not only, brings a fierce edge to The Insiders she also brings a sense of vulnerability when it comes to wanting to be accepted by the father who refused to claim her. I’m not going to lie, there was a boat load of tears when these moments came to the surface. Every time Bailey would experience a bit of acceptance, it seemed like the rug would soon be pulled from under her feet and she’d fall flat on her ass. Every time Bailey fell, Kash was there to pick her right back up and help brush her off. I loved the chemistry and the instant connection between these two. I felt the ride or die vibes they were giving off.
All the twists and turns, legit, gave me whiplash! I loved not knowing and not being able to predict the outcome!
Overall, I loved the start to The Insiders Trilogy, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book after that brutal cliffhanger! Tijan definitely knocked me flat on my ass with that final page. I need more!
There hasn’t been a single Tijan story I have read that I didn’t like. Her latest novel, The Insiders has everything you love about the stories she tells. And everything you need in a novel if you have not read her before.
This is her first traditional published novel. Which can be a little scary because that means the author may have less control of how the story goes.
Let’s get ready to dive-in, The Insiders is the first of three novels you will thoroughly enjoy!
Did I stay up until the early hours of the morning reading this? Yes I did!
This had all the elements of a great Tijan book with so much angst! The tension started within the first page and there was an undercurrent that continued throughout. Of course like most Tijan books there was family drama and they especially had it in spades here. I thought Baileys mum was a bit weird. Her reaction at the beginning and actually throughout was really confusing. I also felt for Bailey at the beginning when she found out about her dad and was constantly being shunned and hushed up. I loved it when she put her hacker skills to use, just to show them how amazing she is!
Holy wow did Kash have that broody mysterious thing going on. You could see the tension between Bailey and Kash from the first meeting and it only got hotter throughout. I understand Kash is a closed off mysterious character but he does need to talk at some point I feel like there is so much that is unknown about him!
I am also intrigued to find out more about Baileys siblings, especially Matthew. You can tell his story is far from over.
I did think the ending was a bit anti-climatic as things stated to happen but then were over very quickly. However, this is the first in a trilogy so I am sure there is lots more action to come!
