Thank you, Casey McQuiston for writing two of my favorite books. red, white, and royal blue was a source of comfort for me much of last year (i might have read it seven times 😬), and now with one last stop, and august specifically, you’ve given me a world and a character I can see myself in and that means so much. It already means so much to me. to anyone who hasn’t read either of casey’s works, you simply must!
I really enjoyed this book! I was a HUGE fan of Red, White, and Royal Blue by the author so I was excited to get an advance copy of her second novel. I immediately connected with both August and Jane, and like RW&RB I was swept into the story by McQuiston's descriptive prose. I gave this a rating of 4 stars on Goodreads as I'm not always the hugest fan of sci-fi/time travel, but it was very well handled here and never devolved into hokey tropes. I can't wait to read whatever the author releases next!
I loved this book. I didn't think that Casey McQuiston could pull off another book as Red, White, and Royal Blue, but I thought that this one was even better.
August has just moved to New York, and one day on the train she sees Jane. Jane and August seem to always be on the train at the same time and its' not long before August starts crushing on her hard. However, there's something strange how Jane and August seem to always end up on the same train.
This was a highly highly anticipated book for me ever since I read Red, White, and Royal Blue! One Last Stop was definitely different from the first book I read, but I still enjoyed it. I thought the love story was so sweet and I absolutely admired the diversity within the story.
A constant mix of pop culture references that suddenly morph into a character study, One Last Stop is a great lazy day read that makes you long for drinking black coffee in 24 hour diners. The subtle romance of it all made my heart happy and it isn't my usual fodder.
Who should read One Last Stop? Hopeless romantic types and people who say their favorite movie is 200 cigarettes or really enjoy Matthew Sweet
How many stars? 3.75 out of 5
This is outside of my reading comfort zone so I didn’t really intend to read it… but I kept hearing raves and definitely succumbed to book FOMO. So glad I did - I LOVED this. Adorable, relevant, and perfectly executed, McQuiston puts a unique spin on the love story.

This was a lovely read and I gave it four stars. Overall would recommend this one to people who love romance.
I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue, so I was very excited for Casey’s next book. Though I enjoyed RWRB slightly more, One Last Stop was still full of everything I love about their writing— endearing characters, romance that felt both realistic and steamy, plot to keep things going. I’m a huge fan of Casey’s and feel lucky to get to read their books through NetGalley
I loved this book. August and Jane's chemistry was electrifying (pun intended).. The friendships/found family in it was absolutely heart warming. I really enjoyed the journey the mystery took us on, it was fun and unique.. I love Mcquiston's writing, it flows so nice and is easy to fly through. I can't recommend this book enough if you like found family, sappy romance, a light mystery, and amazing characters and character development.
This book is a warm, fluffy pancake doused in thick, sweet syrup, topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, the kind that make you feel instantly better when you're having a bad day.
This is my first book by Casey McQuiston, and it definitely won't be my last. I think others have described this book much better than me, but here we follow cynical August as she falls for carefree Jane (who may or may not be stuck on the train and displaced in time from the 1970s). McQuiston definitely leans heavy on the syrupy sweetness, but I've admittedly always had a sweet tooth.
These characters -- August and Jane; August's roommates Niko, Myla, and Wes; and all the other characters that were given loud and vibrant voices -- were everything. They were nuanced and flawed and messy and loud. The story itself was amazing. This was the first book in a while that I stayed up late into the night reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
One last stop is hands down one of my favorite reads of the year and I can't believe I forgot to review it. I'm sure everyone already read this amazing book by now so I will not extend myself but if you have not- WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Casey McQuiston did it again.
So much buzz about The Last Stop, and it was worth the hype. I found it to be intriguing, with multiple story lines running concurrently. The primary one, August and Jane’s relationship, is expertly woven as a tale leading up to a big climax. Along the way, we meet other characters who have their own obstacles to hurdle, and whose situations are integrated into August and Jane’s love story.
A tale about loss, love, and redemption, The Last Stop checks all the boxes: angst, lust, first love, and trust, with a little time travel and physics thrown in the mix. August is trying to find herself at the beginning of the book and by the end, she has found so much more. Some of the plot points do need to reader to step out of reality but McQuiston writes so well, it doesn’t feel like we are in fact doing that. If you are looking for a feel good romance that is well written, has depth and has plot twists and turns, that will also make you laugh and cry with exasperation, this is the book for you.
This book was truly so fun and sweet to read. I loved August and Jane together and I felt like I really understood them as individuals. I loved the twists and turns that built around the romance which I was SO invested in!!
I can't think of anything g I didn't like about this book!!
Highly recommend this one. Big thanks to Netgalley and Casey McQuiston for allowing me an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review!!
Received a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.
When first reading the summary, it was like “Lesbian chick lit, ok cool. Southern flare in the Big Apple, that’s interesting. Casey McQuiston is the author, probably should add to tbr. Character stuck in time?! Heck yeah! I’m def reading that right tf now.” This book did not disappoint. It was great! Kinda gave me the Kate&Leopold feels. If you need a sign to read it, this is your sign.
I adored Casey's debut book and couldn't wait to read One Last Stop. This is the first F/F romance I've read and while I can't say I'll read a lot more, I'm very glad I gave this book a try.
Set in NYC, our heroine is a bit gloomy and bland initially which does make the book start slow. And really the pacing of the book is my only criticism... it dragged on in a few places and although it made sense for the storyline, it did bog me down a bit.
August and Jane's love story is a blend of angst and sadness, humor and love. There is a paranormal aspect to the book BUT it reads like a 'normal' book if that makes sense. So don't let that turn you off if you don't care for paranormal romance. I won't give anything away but don't worry... there is an HEA even if it's not altogether real world believable.
If you've been afraid to try F/F, I think this is a good place to start. And overall, it's just a heartwarming love story.

You know that feeling when you go into a book without reading the synopsis because you loved the authors previous book but then this one COMPLETELY surprises you?
Yeah. I didn’t read the synopsis. So, when the mystery of Jane popped up I was all, “ummmm … wait, what?!” But by then I was hooked and along for the bumpy ride.
I do feel that there was a LOT going on here between Billy’s, Jane, the roommates, August’s mom … so many plot paths and detours that weren’t super crucial to the story. They were entertaining. It was just distracting.
I will say that this book is for fiction readers that are super chill with bending reality. You can’t pick up this book and expect to think, “awe I hope this love story happens to meeee!”
That said, if you love snappy dialogue and damaged, sweet characters who are vulnerable and raw, this book is for yo
I honestly can't think of a single thing I didn't like about this book. The pacing was perfect; it was fast enough to keep me entertained and turning the pages, and still took the time to flesh out the personalities of both August and Jane, and to really give August an individual connection with each member of her found family. I love the various ways things tied together, and the random bits of magic/speculative stuff! I also obviously loved the steam! VERY good times there! And I ended up being surprised on more than one occasion by the turns in the story.
It's magical, lovely, interwoven, funny, intentional, well-written, and just everything. I had immensely high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint!
I had super high hopes for this book because Red, White, and Royal Blue is one of my favorite books of all time. This one nearly measured up though and while I didn't connect to it quite as much it is still an amazing 5 star read for me. This book was not only a love story, but a love letter to the city of New York and the people who live there. The dialogue was still the best part of the book similar to her first novel. Definitely recommend and I'll keep reading all her books!
Very good story, characters are relatae and lovable. the story was super interesting and I could not stop reading it.
I adored Red, White and Royal Blue so I was really excited to dive into One Last Stop.
This book is just as an enjoyable read but a wee but unexpected compared to the previous just due to some extra sparkle added to the book.
I really adored Jane and August's love story and how it all came together. I LOVED the side characters in this book SO much that I'd love to read more about them in their own books. Basically this is a beautifully written story that everyone should read.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for an eARC copy of the novel in exchange for my honest review.
