This series has always been a guaranteed great read for me, and this latest did not disappoint.
If this is the last one since the author has passed away, I will be sorry to hear that.
Great characters and a well written whodunit.
Thank you to M.C. Beaton for keeping me entertained.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Hot to Trot is the latest in the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton. Rod Greene also contributed to this title. The book begins with a charming introduction by M.C. Beaton in which she gives her origin story. A forward by Mr. Greene is also included and he does a good job convincing the reader he is up to the task of continuing Ms. Beaton's work. The story is typical of those in the series: someone in Carsley is murdered and it is up to Agatha and her associates to solve the case without getting killed. The victim this time is the new wife of Charles Fraith and we are introduced to a host of new characters from the area's horsey set. The story is entertaining and there are a few surprises. The dialogue is not as sharp and the humor is not as biting as in some of the earlier books of the series, but I am looking forward to seeing where Mr. Greene will take these beloved characters in the future.

While I loved the premise and plot of the book, I didn't enjoy Agatha. For me, she was a bit too catty and entitled. While she gave as good as she got with Mary, her comments and actions were unnecessary and mean spirited when not focusing on the technical aspects of her investigations. I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt but her final trick with the champagne showed me that, when it comes to her personal life, she has room to grow. I will concede that I am simply dipping my toe into a longstanding series and basing my opinions on one book of it but, as of now, I don't see myself picking up another Agatha Raisin book anytime soon.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for this free advanced copy that I received in return for an honest review.

Enjoyable enough, but not very good. The plot is contrived and the characters act in unconvincing and inconsistent ways. The solution is presented in an off handed fashion and the lead detective is far less appealing than the author finds her

I tried to be open minded about this title. But like so many others I just couldn't hear M. C. Beaton's voice anywhere in the story. I didn't finish, deciding to keep my memories of the earlier books.

All the books in this series share a rapidly moving plot that makes for great reading. Hot to Trot is a worthy addition to the series . The collaboration between the late M C Beaton and R W Green is seamless and I look forward to reading future books in the series.

As I read these last two Agatha Raisin books I couldn’t help but see the characters from the show, and so was happy to see Roy introduced in this book. Hot To Trot was frothy, fun to read, entertaining but too short, and definitely a little over the top at times. I wonderful if M.C.Beston’s Agatha books were always like this. As I’ve only read one or two of the older Agatha Raisin books a long time ago, I plan to read one because I’m curious to compare them with the writing in Hot To Trot.
But this book is a perfect escape to get out of your head and away from the world today,
