Althea Higgins had taught at the high school as long as anyone could remember. She was nearing retirement age but still expressed her strong opinions on every subject, especially about student attire and discipline. Some respected her but most tried to avoid her.
Daisy Swanson is delighted to be asked to cater an appreciation tea for the teachers after the spring concert. Her biggest concern is whether the refrigeration unit in her van is up to the task. No one got to appreciate the delicious refrigerated tarts, as Daisy jumped into action when she heard a terrified scream coming from the swimming pool.
Nonstop action as you turn the pages. Friendship and relationship issues arise, murder and mystery are at the center of it all, but there is so much more happening. Both of Daisy's daughters need extra attention, Jazzi makes a new friend, with both positive and questionable characteristics.
Why does Daisy feel the need to find a killer? Her friends all believe she has a better chance at it than the police.
We get to visit with the Amish once again and are treated to wonderful recipes in this book.
You won't be able to put this book down and I bet you don't discover the killer until the end.

This book is good. It's a fast read with characters that are likeable and interact well with one another. I really enjoyed the interaction with Brielle. The mystery is interesting as is the investigating. I was surprised by the ending, I definitely didn't expect who the killer was. #MurderwithOolongTea #NetGalley

I was in the mood for a cozy mystery, and this delivered. I loved the tea shop setting and was glad to find recipes in the back. I don't normally jump into the *middle* of an unfamiliar-to-me series, but the author dropped just enough detail that it was easy to keep track of the characters' relationships and histories. The main character and amateur sleuth, Daisy, is not perfect - I found her kind of uptight and judgy at first - but she grows, and you really get a sense of her kind, loving nature. You know what to expect going into a cozy mystery, to some degree, but all the charm and twists I craved were in this story. Enjoyed it!

3 stars for the story, there was just something I can’t pinpoint that kept me from loving this, but 4 stars for the inclusion of those recipes!!! Overall it’s a good read and all the characters mostly feel pretty reasonable. I think there was just too much going on in a serious way and not a fun kooky way that I prefer from my cozies.

This booked made me crave a delicious afternoon tea. I loved the recipes within the story. It is a good cozy mystery.

Daisy Swanson is the co-owner of Daisy’s Tea Garden which she runs with her aunt Iris. They cater to events as well as manage operations at the tea garden.


Her tea garden is also preparing for the spring and summer Amish country has tourist trade in Lancaster County.


Willow Creek High School is having a get-together—after the spring concert—in appreciation of the teachers and the school has hired Daisy’s tea garden to cater the appreciation tea event. She will be working with Megan Pratt , the principal of Willow Creek High School, and Stella Conton, the school’s guidance counselor to create the menu for the event.


Some recipes Daisy suggests are Daisy’s Spring Garden, avocado-cucumber soup and tomato aspic; egg and olive sandwiches; beef on rye squares, cucumber watercress triangles; and desserts—cake with mini shoofly pies and lemon tarts. To name a few.




One of the teachers named Althea Higgins—and Daisy’s former English teacher has been opposed to the school hiring a teacher named Claudia Moore is filling a vacant spot in the math department because the current teacher is on maternity leave. Althea is quite opinionated and is not well liked by her faculty members.


Following an altercation between Althea and Claudia at the tea event, Althea is found dead floating in the school’s swimming pool with a rope wrapped around her neck.


Daisy starts asking questions trying to find out who would hate Althea enough to want to kill her.


Overall, good read. Included in this book are delicious recipes such as Blueberry Coffee Cake, Cabbage Sausage Soup, and Coleslaw. Would recommend.

Murder with Oolong Tea is a perfect addition to the series.
Daisy owns the local tea shop, where the food and drink are delicious and the gossip flows as free as the tea.
Daisy is asked to cater an appreciation tea for the teachers at the local high school. Everyone seems happy with the idea, with the exception of Althea Higgins, a long time teacher, who has no problem vocalizing her complaints.
Everyone has a different opinion of Althea, some appreciate her and some, well it seems they only tolerate her.
During the tea, an unfortunate event occurs, and Daisy finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation.
As much as she wants to mind her own business, Daisy feels compelled to ask questions.
Daisy has a lot on her plate as well, her daughter Vi is a new mom and wife, who has had her share of struggles. Her daughter Jazzy is still getting to know her birth mom, and then asks a huge favor if Daisy. Add in the tension between Daisy’s significant other, Jonas and local police detective Zeneca Willet, and you have all the makings of a whirlwind cozy mystery.
I really enjoyed this book, and it kept me guessing until the very end.
I enjoyed the introduction of a few new characters and I hope this author finds a way to keep them active in future books.
I would definitely recommend this book and the series, written by the talented Karen Rose Smith.
