The premise was interesting but I was lost through much of the story. I’m sure others will enjoy it more.
Many thanks to IUniverse and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the first time reading anything by this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. This book was fast paced and easy to read. There were lots of twists and turns that I didn't expect. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book.
I love espionage stories and I truly wanted to like this one too, but I couldn't. There were far too many things in this book that I just didn't care about. First of all, there is the main character. Maybe it is because there wasn't much character development or maybe I just didn't connect with him, but I didn't care whether he won or not or whether he lived or not. I wasn't rooting for him at all. It's not that I actively disliked him, it's more that I was completely apathetic about him.
Then there was the plot. It could have saved this book for me, but it didn't. It didn't actually start so bad from my point of view, as it had all the ingredients to be great. Well, almost all if we don't count the main character. A murder, an espionage story, mystery. This is usually what I'm looking for in a thriller, but unfortunately the plot lines weren't that well connected here. I don't mind if books are complicated or if some things only make perfect sense at the very end, but more than a few things felt very random in the case of this book. I sometimes even wondered if a longer book had been shortened to be under 400 pages and some of the "meat" of some plot lines had therefore been lost.
