Whether you believe crystals really have any power or ability to change things, this book isn't forcing you to. Right from the beginning the author lets us know that "using crystal as an intention-setting tool is that you keep a crystal nearby as a reminder of your goals and desires. that's it. No fluff, no woo-woo. ... Working with crystals can be nothing more than this, and it is still powerful". The author gives even a skeptic a way to connect; that even if you may not believe that a crystal is more than that and she does, that its okay and they can still work for you.
I think it's why I really LOVED this book! I want to believe in the power of crystals, I really do think they might because I believe that all things can carry energy, but sometimes I struggle with fully believing so the idea that WE give it power through intentions is something I really enjoyed. "YOUR THOUGHTS ARE POWERFUL"
This book left me so excited to explore and work with the crystals I have and see what kind of changes it might just bring. I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn more about crystals and how we can us them in our lives.
This book is great for your coffee table, to dip into here and there and read up on crystals and how you can use them in your daily life. I love reading little bits of it when I am in need of a few minutes solace in my day
The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Crystals is the perfect introduction to crystals. Cassie Uhl covers all the basics on how to work with, cleanse, charge and program crystals. There are exercises and easy to follow tips throughout. This is a full crystals 101 class and very easy to understand. Cassie writes in a positive and accessible way that makes for a fast read, All in all a great book to get you started on your crystal journey. If you have more experience with crystals this is a great refresher and I enjoyed it very much.
It is a good visual for those who want that. A good starter informational book other than crystal introductions. More with working with them.
I have read several books on crystals and this would be an excellent and wide-ranging introduction for those new to crystals, however I also learnt many little gems of information. I enjoyed Cassie Uhl’s conversational and down to earth tone of voice, and the pages themselves with their vivid images are a delight to browse. Would recommend that Crystal shops stock copies alongside the traditional offerings from Judy Hall.
This is a great book for anyone who likes crystals. I personally don't know a lot about them, so this book served as a good introduction for me. I enjoyed the drawings as well and helped me a lot.
I was provided an advanced copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I originally requested this book because a friend is a huge crystal fan, and I thought I'd review it and let her know if it would be worth buying or not. Well, I didn't get but a few pages in before I was impressed enough to let her know when its release date was - what got me was the author's initial discussion about the importance of using ethically sourced crystals. I wish I could say that that was all, but the rest of the book was basically an encyclopedia of so much information about crystals that I was almost tricked into buying crystals myself after reading it! When I told my friend this, she showed me two other books she had of the author's and mentioned that they are also full of information on their topics.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with this book, as well as the level at which the information was presented and how conversational the book seemed.
I think this is a great beginner's guide on what crystals are and how to go about bringing them into your everday life. I own a metaphysical store and get asked so many times "So...what do I do with them?" This would be an ideal book for any metaphysical store to have on hand
A very interesting and informative read. Something I’d dip into time and again. Well written and illustrated.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and this is just as beautiful as the Chakra book I read. I haven’t read many books on crystals and found this one really informative. Not only is this book helpful, it’s beautiful to look at! I highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and Rock Point for this ARC.
Having now read several books by this same author, I have come to love the conversational tone of the book. She doesn't assume you know the basics, but also clues you in without making you feel dumb. She even opens with an acknowledgment that not everyone has to do deep into the world of crystals to be able to enjoy their benefits. I've made several purchases based off the information I learned in this book.
This is the second book I've read by this author, but the first time I've ever heard of her. I feel like she's a new favourite non-fiction author of mine already from just two books. I also bought this one too. I thank the author and Netgalley for my free copy in exchange for a review, all opinions are my own.
So this is my third book on this subject matter I've found on Netgalley and then purchased, while the others are both five star reads, I feel like this book offers something very different. It's to die for also, visually as is the author's other book I read. This book on crystals felt more down-to- earth and by this I mean, less technical, or metaphysical with the fine details of what makes up each crystal from the earth. That said, for me the more toned down approach was not something I needed, I could get head around the metaphysical approach of the others, it was just nice to read a more reader friendly book on the subject!
Also, the author covers a very different angle for example moon phases, astrology, and different areas of crystal use, information, facts and practical info that other books have not. I found this really nice. Generally it is an easy to read book, and very enjoyable. I would recommend it for anyone who has an interest in metaphysics, crystals etc. Especially beginners because the author's approach is very different to what I've noticed is common, with books on this subject matter. Five wonderful stars from me! I can't wait for the hard copy to arrive. Thank you again Netgalley and the author for the chance to review it free!
Understanding Crystals by Cassie Uhl is the first crystal book that I felt I really connected with.
I felt the way the information was presented was different, the illustrations were gorgeous, and the ethical side of things really spoke to me. I found Uhl also made all the steps extremely accessible in terms of purifying and energizing crystals. A lot of books put two or three very long, tedious processes in and say those are your limited options. Uhl makes the process feel like you can obtain the end result no matter how little or much time you have. Along with time, she also acknowledges that people might not have the money or want to invest a lot in these processes.
The biggest connecting factor for me was that she addresses people who have not felt something in the past. I want to love crystals. The whole idea of crystals healing is just amazing to me, yet I have struggled in the past to connect with any. I felt so recognized and spoken too.
I will highly consider buying this book, and I have already put a request in for my library to buy it as well. If you are a skeptic or someone who has failed to connect with crystals in the past, I highly recommend this book by Cassie Uhl.
The only section I would have liked to have seen expanded was at the very end where the crystals are listed with their chakras, astrology signs, moon phases, etc.
I received an eARC from Quarto Publishing Group through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Crystals are was awesome to me.
The illustrations are so beautiful and visuals. This book explains perfection all information about crystals, how to use it, ways to cleanse and program, protect my crystals, and I loved it all tips.
This book is a very complete guide, to me has been useful and I learned a lot.
I highly recommend this, and I hope to go on reading more books like this.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher to allow me to read this copy.
Just as I enjoyed Cassie Uhls Understanding Auras book, I enjoyed this book as much. Cassie's approachable style of writing makes this an easy-to-understand guide to Crystals, their properties, correspondences, and uses. The illustrations and artwork were gorgeous and I look forward to reading more from her! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A thorough and thoroughly enjoyable guide to crystals!
I really liked this book and its in-depth explanations on crystals, correspondences, uses, ways to cleanse and program them and so on. I started getting into crystals only recently and I read through a couple of books which mentioned the use of crystals, but provided only a small amount of information, with the presumption, I suppose, that the reader would have other, more detailed materials regarding crystals.
"The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Crystals" was just that for me. It's a small book which contains quite a lot of information and all sorts of useful tips and tricks, know-how and ideas. I fully plan on using some of the things the author shares in the book!
My only gripe with the book is how material-heavy it is. In order to fully employ the information provided, one would need an incredible amount of crystals, as well as other things such as colorful candles, jars, prints of crystal grids and so on. This is the second book that I've read recently about rituals and both rely very much on materials which are not only not available in a person's house, but are quite expensive. Both authors additionally mention that replacements are available - however, they'd lower the potency of the ritual, which, for me at least, put some pressure on acquiring the correct materials, lest my desire not be fulfilled.
I am very new to crystal work, but have dipped my toe casually into other forms of magick over the years (tarot, meditation, spellwork, etc.). Crystals just never seemed to interest me in the past, partly because I was skeptical of their power since I didn’t have a good understanding of how they work. In recent weeks, I’ve made more of an effort to at least learn more about crystals before judging them. That’s where “The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Crystals” by Cassie Uhl comes in.
This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in working with crystals, but it is an especially useful resource for those who were a lot like me. The author provides a comprehensive (but not overwhelming!) background on the science behind crystals and how they work. This was my favorite part of the book because it truly made me a believer and eradicated all my skepticism.
After the educational introduction, the book continued to wow me as it answered every beginner question I had regarding crystals. From how to connect to various stones to the cleansing, charging, and programming of your crystals, Uhl thinks of everything. I loved the informative and beautifully illustrated infographics that are scattered throughout the various chapters to review key ideas and useful information.
Even more advanced crystal users can appreciate parts of this book, such as the chapter on crystal grids which was definitely too advanced for my current abilities. The crystal guide at the end of the book which shows many useful correspondences is worth the price of the book all by itself! I've read that this author has similar titles on auras and chakras, so I'm definitely going to be checking those titles out.
*Thanks to the author, Quarto Publishing, and Netgalley for providing me with a digital copy in exchange for an honest review!
As a fairly new arrival to the world of crystals, this was the perfect little handbook for me! Filled to the rafters with all you need to know about crystals, their healing powers and how to use them, I found myself learning so much in this really easy to follow guide.
It's also beautifully illustrated which helps to bring things to life, and I loved how it showed different exercises you can do to get the most out of your crystals now that they're in your life!
Set out in different chapters, it takes you through how crystals work, how you can cleanse and charge them, how to use the energy and the different meanings behind each crystal. This was really helpful as it gave you clear indications what crystals were best used for whatever issue you needed them for. The meanings were really well laid out and easy to read, and this book even introduced me to some new crystals so I look forward to adding them to my collection at some point!
There's also help to guide you through using crystal grids with illustrations that made it so clear to understand and follow along with guides to your chakras and overall this was such a helpful look into the different aspects of crystals.
After previously reading Cassie Uhl's books on chakra, and aura's, I was really desperate to read this one.
I am a huge fan and lover of crystals, and I like to think I know a lot about them so I wasn't expecting to learn anything particularly new from this book.
I found this book to be lacking in detail compared to Uhl's other books that I have read - but this could be because I know a bit more about this topic than the others.
Once again, i absolutely adored the writing style and layout of the book. The illustrations are unique and beautiful and really add something to the info in the book.
I particularly liked the section about how to use your crystals with the moon - being a big moon lover myself. I knew about cleansing and energising crystals, but was unaware that the different moon phases would bring a new element to this.
I really enjoyed reading, despite not really learning a lot of new information. I just love Cassie Uhl's books and their layouts!!
Will continue to read all Uhl has to offer!!
Cassie Uhl has done it again with another Zenned Out guide and it's fantastic. I have always loves and collected crystals but have truly not had much of an education on the study of them and their various meanings. This is a perfect, user friendly guide to identifying and understanding crystals and their properties. The author provides meditations and tools that she gives you in a simple, accessible, realistic on your personal time constraints. The artwork, as in her entire Zenned Out series, is just beautiful and the writing is simply brilliant. Another definite must have addition to your personal reference library.
I would like to thank Cassie Uhl, Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for r the opportunity to read this advanced read copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
