3.5 stars. The storyline of “Just One Look” focuses on Cassie Woodson, whom the reader comes to know as a seriously deranged and mentally unstable young woman, after she has lost her job as an attorney at a big New York law firm and finds herself doing legal temp work on a document review at another major firm. In the midst of this dredge of a job, she reviews a few emails belonging to Forest Watts, one of the firm’s most important partners, and his wife Annabelle. Although she has positive, warm feelings for both of them because of their correspondence with one another, her feelings eventually turn into a complete obsession — especially with Forest — and Cassie becomes a stalker extraordinaire as the suspense builds. (To me, her character is somewhat reminiscent of Joe Goldberg in “You,” even though Cassie is not a serial killer.)
This is definitely a quick read and a real page turner, and although I had figured out what or who had really caused the death of one of the characters, the ending has a nice twist to it and is very fitting. This novel is a perfect beach/vacation read that should keep you interested until the last page.
THIS BOOK.... omg, I absolutely devoured it!!! Just One Look by Lindsay Cameron absolutely scratched that itch I have for unreliable/narcissistic/looney-tunes anti-hero/heroines!!!! So well-written and fast-paced- I was sad to get to the last page but completely satisfied!

Than you Random House and Netgalley for my digital ARC in exchange for my honest review
This was a definitely a thriller! Where do I even begin here? This starts off with a truly unlikable young woman, Cassandra who has fallen down the corporate ladder. What was once a promising legal career in her future Cassandra now is a temp reviewing correspondence after an "incident" at her last job that resulted in her being escorted out by security. Fast forward to her hum drum job working at the Bunker as she calls it, where the overly eager, "plays it by the rules "manager Ricky makes her life even more regretful Cassandra spots an interesting email of one of the firm's top executives, Forest Watts to his wife Annabelle. Intrigued by their back and forth messages Cassandra begins to sift through Forest's emails to learn more about him and his wife, what wine do they drink, his wife's clothes, the places they eat and becomes obsessed with him that ultimately leads Cassandra to their "chance meeting" and eventual affair. But where is his wife? Are they getting a divorce, will Cassandra become the new Mrs. Forest Watts as she fantasizes about daily? As she becomes increasingly unhinged determined to not let anything stand in her way of being with Forest and to do whatever is necessary if it does, Cassandra's curiosity leads her down a path she never expected to find herself in. This was a suspenseful and riveting thriller, I didn't much care for Cassandra but she was sometimes gutsy and snarky and that made for one of these cant put down kind of reads. Recommended.
Thanks to author Lindsay Cameron and NetGalley for this digital copy in exchange for my review.
"Just One Look" is a one of a kind thriller, told from a unique perspective of a character with a stalker's obsession. Think "You", only better! Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed this book so much!! I would love to read more by this author!! Thanks for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
I literally devoured this book. From the first line I was hooked and Cameron knows how to write a suspense novel! Oh man this was delicious in all the right places!
Cassie, a new temp at a New York City law firm, is a woman down on her luck and only making it worse. She is scarred and troubled by her childhood and her recent past so badly that she can't hold a good job or relationship and is drinking herself to sleep every night. I'm surprised she's functional at all. Cassie needs a therapist, but that would not make a good story- instead she becomes obsessed with a man she meets through her emails at work. This novel has stalking, obsession, hacking and all the turns you'd want for a tense novel, however Cassie is such a silly ridiculous woman that I didn't find likeable until the last quarter of the book. A quick fluffy beach read good for those that don't need to pay too much attention.
Just One Look was fun, suspenseful, and truly surprising. I thought one plot line was going to go off in a totally different direction, but it all came together at the last minute, and came together cleanly.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen. While I did think Cassie was crazy through a lot of this book with her obsession with Forest and Annabelle, I was also in a weird way rooting for her as well. And I love the turn this book took about three quarters in, because I did not see the twist coming and it only made a gripping story even better.
I LOVED this book!! It was like a really good lifetime movie- I couldn't put it down once I started it! Though in real life, obsession like this scares me, in fiction, I find it absolutely thrilling and you really can't go too far with it. Absolutely recommend this book!

_Just One Look_ has a bit of a _You_ vibe at the start, as readers meet the m.c., Cassie, who is....troubled. Cassie has some secrets that get revealed in an expertly timed manner; there is hinting, and then there is detail, and Cameron's pacing in this way WORKS.
While the beginning felt a bit slow to me, and I wasn't loving the whole another-young-woman-is-hysterical scene, that all turned around pretty quickly; I got hooked. Cameron effectively dangles Cassie and readers over the edge of something interesting and disturbing at the end of every chapter. More info reveals what many women aligned readers might suspect; that Cassie's bad behavior is still bad but that a lot of it has also been influenced by even worse behavior from the dudes she knows.
Readers who enjoy the creepy, stalkery vibes of Kepnes's Joe and/or are just looking for an intriguing thriller will enjoy this one. I'll be excited to read more from Cameron!
Just One Look is fun, twisty read that I flew through! Cassie is a woman still reeling from a humiliating fall down the corporate ladder after an incident with an ex. She's spiraling deeper down when she takes a temp job at a large law firm sifting through emails as part of a large fraud case. As she starts reading, she becomes fixated on one of the lawyers upstairs. Cassie soon finds herself creating a false identity and stalking her new prey but she soon finds that she might actually be the prey in a much larger web of lies.
This book was fast paced with an unreliable but still sympathetic narrator. The last 1/3 of the book was filled with twists and I loved every one of them. This book will have you captivated by the plot and also make you want to change all your passwords!
Thanks to #NetGalley and Ballentine Books for the e-ARC of #JustOneLook by Lindsay Cameron available on July 27.
A fantastic narrative with an intriguing premise that flows effortlessly. Readers are taken on a wild and fixated ride. Lindsay Cameron offers an unreliable, unlikable narrator that she brilliantly crafts to play on the reader’s empathy. A perfect summer read. #tbralert

This was an enjoyable, quick read, particularly if you enjoy books with a creepy stalker vibe, such as is found in the book and show "You" (but from a female viewpoint). There were enough twists to keep me engaged. The pace was appropriate and the mystery interesting.
Cassie Woodson, an initially promising attorney, is hired as a temp to review correspondence and other documents central to a major lawsuit Miserable at her job, single and lonely, Cassie notices the personal details of one attorney's life in his emails, especially those to or about his wife Fantasizing about what seems to be an ideal marriage, she soon becomes obsessed with it, and maneuvers to encounter the couple - or at least the husband - of her dreams. Anxious and slightly deranged Cassie, however, finds that all is not what it seems, which keeps the tension building in this week-crafted thriller .

This is a new author for me and I’m impressed! I found this to be a compelling story that pulled me right in!
Cassie is our main character and she’s really struck out in both her career and her love life. A former attorney, she’s now forced to work as a legal temp to pay the bills. She’s stuck doing the boring discovery work for a law firm, reading through countless emails to determine if they are relevant to the case.
It takes quite a while for us to learn what happened at her last law firm and with her former boyfriend, we just know it was bad enough to get her fired. She doesn’t seem to have filters and I gasped and was a little scared a few times at thoughts running through her head!
She meets another temp in a similar situation as her own and they commiserate about the boring work. Things get interesting when some emails from Forest, a partner at the law firm catch her eye. Soon, she’s obsessed with Forest and his glamorous lifestyle with his wife Annabelle. Cassie would like Forest for her own! She strategizes to find ways to meet him in person and really become the woman of his dreams.
This one was paced well and kept me turning the pages. As a former attorney, Lindsay Cameron knows how to authentically write about the legal world.
Thank you to Random House for this copy in exchange for a review! This book centers on a young attorney's obsession with a firm partner. Cassie is no longer employed as a staff attorney at a firm. In desperation, she obtains a temp job at a firm reviewing documents to assist in ongoing litigation for another firm. Somehow, a partner's emails ended up in the reviewed documents, which draws Cassie in. Cassie is trying to reinvent her life in every way. She makes a friend at work with a secret. She tries to put distance between her and her past, while obsessively escaping into her work. This book really took off in the second half. I was sneak-reading on all of my work breaks and staying up late to finish it. It was satisfying, cringy, and highly addicting.
Two important things about this book:
1) I thought it was well-written, with an intriguing plot and a satisfying ending, but...
2) I didn't really enjoy reading it.
This is a story about Cassie, a lawyer who becomes obsessed with a man after accidentally gaining access to his emails. And it gets bleak. The writing is skillfully done, but Cassie's actions become so uncomfortable to read that I found myself not wanting to return to the book, even though I very much wanted to know what was going to happen.
This book was only 3.5 stars for me, but that is ONLY because of personal preference, not any fault of the book. Cassie is a difficult narrator. If you enjoy that, then this is DEFINITELY the book for you and I would recommend it without hesitation. On the other hand, if you prefer a more relatable narrator that you can easily root for, I would try something else.
