Three stars for this crime thriller.
Jemima has just earned the Sargent position, and her first case is to catch a stalker who is following the granddaughter of a local judge. She and her partner would never guess the case would span over six years and multiple hospitalizations.
I could not put Stalked down at the beginning. But toward about 40% the action slowed and it was hard for me to keep reading. Finally about 70% until the end it was action packed and so enjoyable!
I didn’t realize this was number 3 in a series, but it was still enjoyable. There were references to her past. I do think I will go back and read the first two!

This book is full of action from the start to the finish. The jumping between present and past keeps the reader glued to the book, and entertained until the end. Recommended.

This is a great book for people wanting a thriller with appealing characters. It is fairly “stock” in some ways - a bit predictable - but still a strong mystery.

The plot to this story has lots of twists and turns I liked how the author used some of her own personal experiences of a young woman about to start university the ending was also good

Complex police thriller which follows one woman's struggle against her stalker. The stalker is never caught and then Violet is abducted,is he back? Lots of surprises and a big revelation. A good read.

Stalked is the third book in the series about DI Jemima Huxley by Gaynor Torrance. The book starts with a kidnapping, but readers must go back in time to learn who the kidnapping victim is and how she came to be in this position.

Six years ago, Jemima was a newer inspector and worked a stalking case. Violet was being stalked by Byron - with deadly consequences for those close to the case. This book takes readers back to the nuts and bolts of this case. You know Violet has been kidnapped, but what is her connection to her present-day kidnapper? Is Byron back after all these years and is finally getting what he really wants?

The book was a little slow - over 50% was told in the past while readers know there is a current case. This is the first book I have read by this author and when she brought readers back to the present it was a bit jarring. Jemima's life had changed drastically - her husband is estranged and on the run and she has custody of her stepson. Covering two cases in one book, even with the same victim, is rare, but it works.

Stalked kept me turning the pages and I was interested in Jemima and her work. I would like to read more by this author. Good police-procedure thriller.

It's action at a breakneck pace, from start to finish. Characters are solidly drawn and won't be soon forgotten. The book starts at the present, bounces back to the past, and then to the present again, so that the reader gets the full story of Jemima's meeting with Toombes. It's a riveting read leading to an unexpected conclusion.

Although 3rd in the series, this is easily a stand alone. I do recommend starting at the beginning. The intense relationship between Jemima and her partner is well worth following.

I really enjoy these books featuring DI Jemima Huxley. They are well plotted and filled with suspense, action and mystery. The plot in this one is a bit different from the previous two and centres around stalking. A woman, from a previous case, goes missing whilst on a night out and the past comes back to haunt Jemima and DS Broadbent. I think this is the best yet in the series but read it and make up your own mind. Thanks to Net Galley for a very good read.

This fast paced psychological thriller will keep you guessing until the end. Jemima and Dan must revisit a difficult case from their past. The chapters from the original case are intense and full of suspense. The current case is action packed and full of tension. This author blends police procedure with suspense that add up to a story you can't put down.
Jemima is growing a lot as a character. Her intense dedication to doing her job and seeking justice shines through while she balances challenges in her personal life. She has already come a long way from book one.
Things are hinted at in the end that could be setting things up for the next book. I can't wait for that storyline!

A story of a woman who lives in constant fear because of a stalker. It's a nightmare for any woman and to know that the author has first hand experience of it is frightening. The book shows how it changes a woman's life and affects her self esteem. The need of the hour is more stringent laws to protect women rather putting the burden of proof on their shoulders. A fast paced story.

This fast paced thriller had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. The novel opens with a very brutal car crash and abduction of one of the main characters Violet. Violets husband is distraught when he go to the police station to report her missing. Though there’s little evidence, he’s certain her stalker from her past is the culprit.
The story travels back in time to provide back ground leading up to the present day abduction. Though Violet is the one abducted we learn more about the officers, Investigating the case Detective Huxley and Broadbent. The strive in their partnership as well as the challenging sun their personally life are well developed in the novel. The other character we learned extensively about is Byron Toombs, the stalker. The author has not just created a villain but he’s crafty and out wits the cops at every turn even at the end.

This novel took me on a roller coaster ride as they raced to arrest Bryon only to have him escape custody. Then another race to safe violet. I held my breath wondering what the next scene would bring. The twist at the end was very expected and lots of loose ends to be resolve is other books.

I enjoyed the parallel plots they explored the relationship angst between the detectives. I also enjoyed the plot centered around Jemima and her relationship with her mother, sister and husband. The twist added about her own stalker was a nice addition. The description is perfect along with pacing and flow. I didn’t feel overwhelmed as additional characters were added to the story. They flowed easily into the narrative.

This is a very entertaining read and I will be picking up others in the series.

DI Jemima is surprise to get a phone call from the husband of Violet a woman she met years ago when she was on her case which involve a neighbor Bryon who has been harassing her he also a soc officer. Jemima was new to being a sergeant work with a colleague name Dan who dislike her because he thinks she took his promotion a job he thought was rightly his. When they finally get enough evidence to arrest Bryon he flees not before he attacks Violet.

When Charlie who Violet husband tells Jemima that Violet went missing after being spending the night with colleagues she and Dan must race to find her and they believe Bryon is back to finish what he started.

This was a great read. I love the red herrings and the twist and turns and how well the conclusion of the story.
You feel for Violet to be stalked and attack it’s scary never feeling safe. Jemima was just as flawed love still getting to know her.

Stalked is the third instalment in the Detective Inspector Jemima Huxley series, set in Cardiff, Wales, and is the most gripping book in this chilling contemporary thriller series yet. It isn't necessary to have read the previous instalment to enjoy this one as the story is self-contained. It's 2013 and Violet Watkins has put in a complaint about her neighbour Byron Toombes harassing her. The police manage to piece together enough evidence to arrest him but he appears to have already fled. Then Violet is abducted by her stalker. Luckily, she survives the ordeal. Fast forward to 2019 and Jemima receives a frantic phone call from Charlie Morgan, Violet’s husband, claiming Violet has disappeared after a night spent with work colleagues. Jemima’s partner PC Dan Broadbent worked the case with her back in 2013 and their relationship was strained as he resented Jemima for receiving the promotion he felt was his. Now they must work together again to find Violet and locate Byron as they feel it is likely he has returned to gain vengeance on Violet for reporting him to the police. Can they save her life and apprehend the stalker who has now taken things way too far.

This is a captivating and exciting thriller with many twists, turns, red herrings and a whole lot going on. I found this was the best instalment so far as this story is particularly well crafted. As police procedurals go this is a thoroughly enjoyable one; it has pace, is well written and full of surprises. It had me engrossed from the first couple of chapters and I thought the characters were as engaging as in previous instalments. I liked hearing more about our protagonist Jemima's personal life and her relationship with her partner Dan which appears to be a thread that'll run throughout the series. Jemima is also a very likeable person who strives to do her utmost to achieve justice for Violet's family. I wasn't expecting the surprising, almost shocking conclusion and the ability of the author to keep secrets under wraps until the very end was impressive and added to the drama and suspense. With lots of action, some superb twists and an interesting cast, this is a page-turner I highly recommend. Many thanks to Sapere Books for an ARC.
