Jemima Huxley is a DI in Cardiff,Wales.. Out of the blue she receives a phone call from a man who says he is the husband of Violet Watkins and she has disappeared after being out with friends.
The plot moves from 2019 to 2013 when Jemima first met Violet who was being harassed by her neighbour Byron Toombes who is also a SOC officer. Jemima was a new sergeant then , working with PC Dan Broadbent who dislikes her as she got ‘his’ job.
They eventually gather enough evidence to arrest Byron but he escapes and disappears after killing Violet’s grandmother and attacking Violet.
Jemima and Dan, now both promoted in 2019 set out to discover what has happened to Violet and has Byron returned.
Jemima’s backstory also gives insights into her character, making her an interesting protagonist.
Good, pacy thriller with an exciting and surprising ending.

This is the first time I am reading the book from this author and first time reading this series. This is actually the third book of the Jemima Huxley series but you don't necessary need to read the last two books.

In 2019, Jemima Huxley gets a frantic call from Charlie Morgan, claiming, Violet Morgan had gone missing after spending a night with her colleagues from work. Six years ago, Jemima Huxley had been investigating a case of stalking when Violet complained that her next door neighbor, Bryon Toombes had been harassing her. The police failed to arrest Bryon as he had escaped. Now with time running out, Bryon must have returned back to seek revenge from Violet.

I really like the plot line of the story. The writing was good and the author did a good job making the reader hooked into the story. The thriller is a fast paced thriller with lots of action that will make you feel breathless at some parts. It was actually an interesting book with some twists and turns. However, the ending to me was a bit predictable to me.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. Worth five stars!

A case from the past is haunting Jemima…

When Detective Inspector Jemima Huxley gets a call to say Violet Watkins has been reported missing, she is immediately catapulted into the past.

This dark thriller was great.

Had no idea this book was in a series, But it never once affected the way this book was written.
I loved the the story this book told, it was dark, twisted and simply amazing.
The characters were fabulous. And the ending left me wanting more.
Now i have to go to the beginning and start wit the first because I enjoyed this one so much.

DI Jemima Huxley returns for a third outing in Stalked by Gaynor Torrance and it is another entertaining police procedural.

The book is split into two parts with the first half of the story being set a few years earlier and it was this part that I enjoyed the most. The second half, whilst still enjoyable, did not seem to flow as well especially the revealing.

Overall this is a very good series and I would recommend Stalked

A great psychological thriller about a woman who is murdered who previously had a stalker. I love this novel it was really fast paced incredibly interesting and heart pumping.

The book opens in 2013 with Violet Watkins being abducted by her stalker. She survives, but six years later, D.I. Jemima Huxley gets a call from Violet’s husband. Violet has disappeared after a get-together with her co-workers and her husband is frantic. Things didn’t go well when Jemima and her partner Dan Broadbent worked on the case the first time. This time, they are even more determined to save Violet’s life and make sure her stalker can’t damage the life of any other victims.

“Stalked” is the third D.I. Jemima Huxley thriller. I have read each of the others, but this book stands on its own. In fact, it would be a perfect introduction into the series for new readers because it includes two timelines, one of which showing how Jemima and Dan first started working together. When Jemima and Dan investigated the original case, Jemima had just been assigned to Cardiff’s Major Incident Squad as a sergeant. Dan is a DC who isn’t happy that he was passed over for the sergeant job he felt he deserved.. It was interesting to see the initial friction between them considering the comfortable work relationship and friendship they eventually develop. Violet’s initial case is a tough one and the villain, Byron Toombes, is creepy. I was holding my breath during Jemima’s confrontation with Byron even though I knew Jemima would survive since this occurs in a flashback! The current investigation of Violet’s second disappearance is just as scary and has more than one huge twist. Before it’s all over, there is an intense showdown between Jemima and Violet’s abductor in which the outcome isn’t as certain as the first one.

In each of the books in this series, the author is able to combine the realism and details of a police investigation with the building tension of a thriller. Each of the books is excellent and I would rate this one 4.5 stars. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in this engaging, well-written series. Something that is mentioned at the end of the book seems to set up at least part of the focus of the next one and it promises to be exciting. “Stalked” is an excellent thriller, with interesting details of a procedural that kept me riveted from the very beginning.
