Review:
A series of intricate and marvelous poetries and prose that dwells on the topics such as love, heartbreak, betrayal and self empowerment. The poetries are beautiful, and absolutely touching, each filled with an essence of love. The poetries are beautiful and leaves the readers dwelling on these sentiments, each word having a profound impact on the reader's heart.
Lang Leav was one of the poetess, that I wanted to read for a while. And I must say I am not at all disappointed. Her poetries are so amazing, I loved so many of them. Each poetry left me hung on those words.
Lang Leav and I have a complicated but lovely relationship: she writes pretty words and then I CRY ABOUT THEM for weeks on end and am unable to find a proper way to put my thoughts into proper words. This was beautiful and made me feel like I was going through my first crush, reliving every heartfelt emotion I've felt and also reminded me of why I love reading poetry. Absolutely stunning and I cannot wait to hold this book in my hands for real.
Yet again, Leav takes her readers on an emotional roller coaster. The poems in this collection range from hopeful to hopeless, from being in love to being alone. Whatever emotion you may be feeling, there's a poem for you to embrace. I flew through this in one sitting because I just didn't want to put it down. There were so many quotes that I felt a connection to and so many lines that I had highlighted. A few of my favorites were "Taking Time", "The End of Love", "Night and Day", "Ten Things" and "Show of Love." If you're a fan of poetry, I'd recommend checking this collection out.
4.5 stars!! Amazing
I’ve never read anything by this author before but I can tell by how she writes that she is very skilled. She mentioned this book was her 9th book and it made me what to do back and read her other works because of how beautiful and real her words are. There’s so much empowerment and feminism in her writing, I love it. Grief and A Life Unlived were my favorites, they spoke to me about what I feel and I love when poetry does that. Pretty amazing!!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This is my first Lang Leav book, but I've always heard wonderful things about her works and I can honestly say they were right.
Her words are poignant and powerful and can seem to understand you when no one else can. I especially related to her pieces about writing and being a writer, because I used to write poetry as well and I felt exactly the same way she did: you can't hide when you're writing poetry, everyone will see you and pick apart your words and will have a say and not everyone will like you. I think that's a very important statement to keep in mind, especially in the social media age.
I also loved when she talked about this generation always under scrutiny and how we can't escape our mistakes, because they're written or recorded somewhere forever.
I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for strong pieces about feminism, self-empowerement and love.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this early and thanks to Lang Leav for writing a stunning collection.
I have always enjoyed reading Lang Leav’s poetry and this one is just as beautiful as the other books. My favorite poem from this was “Grief”, I found it absolutely touching. The other poems were really great and if you love any of their previous works you’ll definitely enjoy this!
