No More Secrets by Jennifer Harvey is a book that I found to be an emotional mystery story that had me holding my breath in parts, turning the pages so fast so I could find out what came next in this thrilling read.
Evie' boyfriend was murdered twenty years ago. Her brother Ethan was charged with his murder. Evie still struggles to come to terms with what happened. Her dad passes away and Her mum, Carole returns for the funeral...bringing with her Ethan, who has been released from prison. Her brother wants to talk to Evie, he believes be is innocent and wants to explain. The biggest issue is, is Evie able to cope hearing Ethans truth?
The family drama is strong throughout this book, it adds to the mystery and tension. This book deals with how secrets are able to wreck lives, as well as grief and guilt. The way the book slips from past to the present throughout the chapters so, we see the full picture of their teenage years and it builds a picture of just how and why it connects to Evie's state of mind currently.
Jennifer Harvey has created a book that I was unable to leave alone for any length of time. A compelling book that will be excellent for anyone who loves an emotional family drama with added tension and mystery. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of the book for my review today.
Really well written and told in the past and present from the perspective of Evie. I really liked Evie and you could feel all that she was going through. Fast easy read that kept you turning the pages as it kept building you up for when all would be revealed. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending as I don’t think it finished off the storyline as it should have. I think it could have gone so many other ways. It could have had more going on in the way of twists and turns. It was an ok read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC and review that was published on the 21st of Oct.
I'll be honest it's hard for me to summarise how I feel about this book. The description had me interested and it delivered what it said but the characters I found mostly unlikable. The ending just wasn't for me to be honest which is a shame.

Evil has no recollection of the events leading up to the murder of her first boyfriend. Her brother, Ethan has spent the last twenty years n jail after being found guilty of the murder. Ethan wants to tell Evie the truth about what had actually occurred that day. But will Evie like what she hears?
This story is told through the past and present format. The pace is slow. This is quite a predictable read. The story is told from Evie's point of view. Evie has mental health issues and can't remember much about what had happened that day. This is a well written book with well rounded and believable characters. I would have preferred a quicker pace but that did not stop my enjoyment of the book.
I would like to thank #NetGalley, #Bookouture and the author #JenniferHarvey for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A captivating story and a marvellous psychological page-turner.
Jennifer Harvey has delighted me with this clever and gripping family drama, and I wasn't disappointed with this superb taut tale.
Evie's boyfriend, Michael was murdered twenty years ago and her brother, Ethan was charged and convicted of the killing. At the time, Evie was 16 and in love, and she is still struggling to come to terms with what happened. When her father dies, her mum, Carole and brother who has served time for the crime, return to their home town for the funeral. Ethan believes he is innocent and wants to explain to Evie the events of the fateful night her boyfriend was killed but is Evie strong enough to cope with the truth?
Narrated by Evie, this well written and suspenseful story progressed slowly and purposefully, as it rebounded between present and past in clearly defined chapters. It was a brilliantly involving and clever novel, and I was pulled in different directions as I tried to figure out exactly what had taken place. Extremely compulsive from the start, Jennifer Harvey writes with flair, keeping me engaged in the storyline.
I was never sure whether or not I liked Evie or any of the characters but guilt and grief were major attributes of Evie. The author’s talent made No More Secrets a wonderfully compulsive story that I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated for the entertainment it was. With themes of love, regret, mental health and forgiveness, this is a book that I'm pleased to have read!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley at my request, and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
An emotional story told from Evie's point of view.
The plot ticked along nicely and it was pretty obvious what had happened.
I like my thrillers a bit more dark and twisty. But on the whole a quite enjoyable read.
A father dies and brings home a mother and brother. The brother was just released from jail for killing a teenage boy that his sister was dating. As is normal in small towns, no one wants the brother back in town. The sister still struggles 20 years later to make sense of what happened that day. The day her boyfriend died.
I finished this book yesterday and still don’t know how I feel about it. That terrible day 20 years ago had a huge impact on this family and they are still dealing with it today.
The ending is unexpected and I’m still not sure how I feel about it.
No More Secrets was an easy to read emotional thriller/suspense and although a bit predictable (for me anyway), it was well written with good characters and an interesting plot. I do like my thrillers with a few more twists and more suspense but overall this was still a decent book! Thanks for allowing me an ARC to read and review.
Thrilling. Suspenseful. Taut. Breathtakingly tense. Addictive. WOW, this was a book I couldn't put down. I didn't know if I was coming or going, whom to trust and whom to suspect. It had me looking over my shoulder even as I frantically turned the pages, the tension was that unbearable, building up to a nailbiting crescendo. Brilliant. An absolutely unputdownable pageturner.
This is my first book by the author. What would you do if you lost your first love by the hand of your brother? When Evie's brother Ethan comes back for their father's funeral, all sorts of feelings come back for Evie. She knows things won't end well for Ethan in their small town. Ethan just got out of prison for serving 2o years for the murder of Michael, Evie's first love.
Told in the past and present timeline's. Evie is trying to remember what happened that fateful day when Michael died. Will Evie remember that day? Why else is Ethan back in town? What does he have to tell Evie? Before her dad passed away, he was acting a little more off than usual.
A wonder full book that I highly recommend!
This was my first book by the author and I enjoyed it. I had a feeling I knew how the book was going to end but still, you had to get there first.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
The story had pathos and feelings. A family broken over a tragedy. Now with the father dead, Evie was back home for the funeral. Ethan too was released from the prison. The family came together where Ethan protested his innocence. Evie was unsure. There was a bit of amnesia at play.
My second book by author Jennifer Harvey was engaging as it dealt with changing family dynamics where truth felt to be lie. The story was more emotionally charged as compared to other thrillers. The mystery of the past kept me moving forward. Guilt and grief both were woven well into the character of Evie.
Told in dual time lines, there were secrets buried awaiting their release. The writing meandered but soon came on track. With very few characters, the final reveal to which the story was building up to was easily surmised.
Overall, the book was an entertaining read that kept me going on a lazy afternoon.
Great mystery/suspense. The book started out a bit slow and tedious for me, but I was glad I kept reading. It is an emotional drama with a twist and an ending that surprised me. Loved the characters and the build up to recreate the events of the past. Hard to give some insight into the story without giving it away!
I received an advance. copy of this story in exchange for my honest review.
No more secrets is an emotional drama where the protagonist tries to reconstruct her memory of what happened on the fateful day twenty years back. Once this plot along with the amnesia is revealed, the conclusion becomes foregone. The beginning is slow due to the limited number of characters and not much happening in the present. The writing makes up for the lack of story but at times the book feels tedious. For fans of emotional drama.
If you loved the TV series "Rectify", you will love this book!
This book has a slow, but thrilling build to a climax you'll never see coming.
You often think you know where this story is going, but believe me when I say you'll never see the ending coming.
The writing is suburb and makes you feel like you're watching a movie.
This book really pulls you in.
This was my first Jennifer Harvey book, but it definitely won't be my last.
No-one confesses to a murder they didn’t commit.
This was so good. I can't talk enough about how great this was.
I liked the characters, they felt so real.
The storyline was great! Seemed like I was right there the entire time.
The writing was fabulous! Loved
Thank You NetGalley Publisher and author for this copy!
This is a hard book to review as I do not do spoilers and everything I want to mention is a spoiler. This book did drag in the middle but you have to keep reading to find out who the killer is. I did figure the killer out but this book had a surprising ending which I did not like
What a line to hook a reader - ‘No-one confesses to a murder they didn’t commit.’ From the off, I knew this would be an emotional read and ‘No More Secrets’ didn’t disappoint.
The moment Ethan returned, the intensity picked up. He’d served his time for murder and coming back for his father’s funeral was bound to turn heads. The family drama element of this book was strong, as was the mystery. I felt the tension and the ever brewing conflict.
This book tackles the themes of grief and guilt brilliantly, and it also explores how deep, dark, secrets can ruin lives. It’s suspenseful and thought provoking. The story is told in past and present chapters, so I got a real sense of what went on when the characters were teenagers and how that related to Evie’s state of mind in the present.
All in all, this book is a real heart-wrenching read. It’s sad in more ways than one and Jennifer Harvey has worked the emotional aspect brilliantly. If you love an emotional mystery with family tensions, then ‘No More Secrets’ is not a book to miss!
Something horrible happens and you are a witness. Or at least you think you are, because everything in your head is fuzzy and it's seems that there is only black.
You try to remember, but at the same time that's the least you want to do. Pushing it into the farthest corner of your brain is what you force yourself to do.
Will you ever remember or will the secret stay hidden forever?
A great story where the author shows us how things that happened in the past can have a strong impact on the present.
Devastating, horrible, cruel, guilt and life changing are words that flew through my mind throughout the whole book. Protection can be a good thing, but is it a good thing for everybody? 4 stars.
Thank you, Jennifer Harvey and Bookouture
Evie’s father is found dead and her family life unravels as her mother and brother return to the town for the funeral.
Her brother Ethan was in jail for 20 years for the murder of Evie’s teenage boyfriend Michael.
Evie has blackouts as a result of Michaels death and can’t remember what happened at the time, despite receiving counselling for several years.
Ethan is not welcome in the town as the locals have not forgotten or forgiven what happened.
The story itself is well written allowing the reader to see things from different viewpoints.
It was obvious from fairly early on that something was not right about Ethan’s conviction even though he confessed at the time.
I enjoyed the style of writing although was a little disappointed with the ending.
Would recommend . 3.5 Stars.
