Christina Bauer still can pull some surprises out of her sleeve and it is a doozy. Holy sugar.

I was preparing myself for a huge tear-jerking scene because hello it is Walker, but…I am so not going to give away the ending. You totally thought I was going to, didn't you. I will say that people get the asses handed to them and that includes our girl Myla.

Let me tell you Bauer creates a really kick ass villian called Inferno. I would love to see a story about her that does not include Myla. I have to say that Inferno gives everyone a run for their money. Now that I am thinking about it there are quite a few characters that I want to see standalone books about: Obsidian and his boyfriend Jaime and their guardian/charge Happy, what a unique story that would be. Then there is another character who is on the loose who can be a bit of a practical joker, but once they calm down they could be a power house.

Oh and by the way, there is definitely more than one villain in this piece. (evil chuckle)

Bauer manages to blend really cute and funny family moments with heavy drama, battle, and snark. I think this is what I love best about this series. The fact that I got so excited that Myla and I both drink the same beverage for the reason was a normal connection except for the whole I’m not a Queen or a demon thing she has going for her. I simply adore her connection with Lincoln and how he respects Myla’s battle strategies. I just love when they fight together.

Let’s face it, y’all know I’m a fan of Myla’s and have a heavy crush on her. Bauer has created an amazing character that you root for and chuckle with. She’s the Queen you want to have your back. Walker picked the wrong person to just stand back and say goodbye to or did he know all along that she would try and save him? Guess you’ll have to read the book.

I received a free copy of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

I hadn't actually read the other books in this series so I was a little confused but the writing style was simple and easy to follow.

I really enjoy this series! Christina has created a fantastic world in her Angelbound books! Her characters are enthralling from page one, and draw you into their world! Incredibly well written, and great story line! I highly recommend checking them out!

This was my first book by Christina Bauer and the Dark Lands series and it was quite enjoyable!

Christina Bauer has such a quirky style of writing that I could not help but laugh. Despite jumping in at book #5 I found Christina to be a considerate writer that appressed previous events without being exhaustive (I like that). The book read very much like a cinematic script which I didn’t mind at all.

I imagine Myla is the female Deadpool, as her inner thoughts pivot between outrageously genius to manically insane. She is unapologetically blunt with a take-charge attitude that is befitting of the Scala.

Her extreme analytical skills for problem-solving and strategizing pulls her out of a variety of sticky situations which her smack talk usually gets her in. Myla is so hilarious and for fans of the beloved “Immortals After Dark” series, she and our favorite supernatural NYX could be sisters!

In Dark Lands, we get some insight into Walker and his past. His cryptic messages lead to goose chase for the mysterious villain- Viper and Lucifers artifacts. Dark Lands was extremely fast-paced, full of kick-ass fighting scenes, quirky anecdotes, lots of family love, insanely cute babies, snooty reporters, and a sinfully sexy husband.

Thank you to Monster House Books, the author and NetGalley for providing me with an arc.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the author, Christina Bauer, and the publisher, Monster House Books LLC, for allowing me to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Our main character Myla has now progressed further in her world - Scala Mother, Queen of the Thrax - alongside her baby Maxon and her ever-loyal husband, Lincoln. Whilst appearing on the world's reality news show Good Morning Purgatory, she's hounded by the host with questions on what she is doing about the Viper attacks which have been reported. Thus begins the newest conflict of the Angelbound Origin series.

The book's pace was quick and I found that it was a light and easy read compared to previous books within the series. The writing style has especially gotten better as the series has progressed which is amazing to see. I love the development of Myla and the fact that throughout the series she has managed to keep her sassy, quick-witted and sarcastic personality.

Again, the author added an element of a tight deadline to meet which I have found makes the story flow much better. It gives it the fast paced, conflicted action which readers want. It's also good to see an independent female lead who doesn't rely on strategic plans but, instead, trusts that she can get the job done. The mystery surrounding the Viper was also a great plot element which enthralled me even more.

A very satisfying read and one which I am glad to have pursued further.

I didn't read this series in the right order so I did figure out a few spoilers ahead. However, this is always a terrific series. The heroine is kick ass as usual. The romance is great. The action and suspense is fantastic as always. :) Another terrific addition to the series.

Another fabulous addition to the Angelbound series by Christina Bauer, another few hours spent in a fabulous fantasy world full of fun, drama, sexy men, kick ass strong women and just fantastic storylines. These can be read as standalone and you shouldn’t be too lost, but best enjoyed as part of the series.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

This is Book 5 in the Angelbound Origins series, and while I may not have read them in order, it doesn't detract from the enjoyment.
We get to learn more of Walker (there is more to be found out about him, and I can't wait).
On to Book 6!!

Myla, Lincoln, a good mystery and old family drama to complicated it all? YES PLEASE.

I adore this series. I love everything about Myla - her snark, her humor, her badassery. Her romance with now husband Lincoln is nothing short of swoony, too. Their adventures never fail to please in all the best ways.

If you're a fantasy lover, you need to be reading this series and the rest of the books set in this world!
