I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

I love Myla. In The Brutal Time we get to hear from Lincoln for the first time in the “Angelbound: Origins” series. This inclusion is welcome. I like Lincoln too and his view of Myla is awesome. I think that is one of the best things about the “Angelbound” series. Christina Bauer has created a super couple who truly love and respect each other. Every time Lincoln looks to Myla to find out her plan, it is with complete faith in her abilities. No second guessing. He just tries to figure out what he needs to do and/or contribute. There’s this gorgeous scene which could take you down a rabbit hole if you let it, but when Myla says, “Trust me.” The bond just snaps in place for me. (sigh)

Bauer tackles one of Myla’s biggest weaknesses in this book…yes, she has them! I’m not totally in love with her. Myla assumes she is fighting everything on her own. She has had a lot of life changes, battles, and emotions to deal with and luckily for her she has always had her Mom, Walker, and then Lincoln. Unfortunately, all of these people have big jobs. Bauer explores Myla’s leadership training in the only way Myla learns: dropping headlong into a demonpocalypse.

I should have guessed where Bauer was going with this storyline. I almost had it on the edge of my subconscious but it just didn’t come forward before the reveal. Yeah, I’m not saying what it is, but Colossus is the only thing she can’t touch that she is fighting.

One thing you can always depend on in an Angelbound: Origins book: Myla being sarcastic and kick-ass. Battle sequences. This time add in an adorable Captain Fluff and a trip back in time. I loved it.

I received a free copy of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

I hadn't actually read the other books in this series so I was a little confused but the writing style was simple and easy to follow.

The Brutal Time is a "kickass story that's both satisfying and unique" in the Angelbound saga, where Myla's story as Great Scala and Queen of the Thrax continues.
In this installment, Myla and Lincoln try to solve the problem of vanishing angels, prophecies of destruction and archdemons that are freed from their prison, forcing our protagonist to search for her own Knights of the Round Table. Building on this foundation, the book unfolds with time travel and unique new challenges that Myla and Lincoln must overcome to avoid the demonpocalypse. Highly recommended, very entertaining. One of the best books in the series, so far. BTW, I'm chain-reading all the series again!

Another incredible leap from Christina Bauer in regards to character development and ultimately the amazing progression of this series. This series, for me, started off as something I didn't think I could enjoy however as I progress further and read the newest additions I find myself really beginning to enjoy them more and more.

In this book Bauer ensures she does not give our kick-ass main character a break, even though she is the Great Scala, Queen of the Thrax, doting mother and sexy wife to Lincoln - she is still a danger to her world and those around her. It seems a prophecy is at work against her in this book and no matter what choice she toys with the idea of - any of them could trigger a demonpocalypse which would destroy everything.

Bauer brings in a new addition to her story telling by mirroring and changing the tale of King Arthur (personally one of my favourites) and this is what makes the story become even more interesting and intricate. The book has incredible pacing, the action has become formidable and something I look forward to every time I move onto the next book of this series and the character development just wow's me every single time.

Not only was there a retelling of King Arthur (with it's own little twist) but this is the first book in the series which is dual narrated by Myla and her beloved Lincoln. This gives us a further insight into the emotions and feelings which Lincoln might not express whilst reading through Myla's POV and also gives us a different character perspective.

All in all, a phenomenal addition to the series and I look forward to the next book.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Monster House Books for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is book 6 in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. I actually have not read them all. Ok as a mom I have to say they are away from their child alot. Lol. If you are a fan of King Arthur you might enjoy this more than myself. It's definitely different. This is not to say that I didn't like the story I am just not a fan of that time period. This book has both main characters perspectives, so that's new. Previously it was just Myla's view. I do enjoy both Myla and Lincoln, they have an amazing connection and are both strong individuals. Good read 4 stars

I loved the interaction between Myla and Lincoln in this Arthurian legend. This is a great world and the characters are interesting as is the trouble they get into.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest reviw.

Everytime I read one of these books I think I can’t be entertained as much as the last, I am always wrong, I absolutely love each and everyone of these books, the series is fantastic and I’m so ecstatic we finally get Myla’s story. These are funny, sarcastic, kick ass characters, fabulous story led books. Dive in, you will not regret it

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Poor Myla. She's finally ready to ask for some help with all of her work and doing so creates a whole other chain of events and issues that could lead to the end of all things - so of course that means she has to save the world... again!

I love this world, this series and these characters. The snark, the romance, the adventure - just so much fun!

If you enjoy anything related to this genre, you're in for a treat!
