The Ranchers City Girl By Leslie North
Cade is a rancher trying to be the best single dad and keep his ranch going. Becca is a city girl interested in buying his ranch but she asks to spend a month there before hand to see if the he ranch is a good fit for her. Then the fun begins!
This has a good mix of characters and though this is a shortish fast read it is very enjoyable one.
Leslie North is, without a doubt, one of my favorite romance authors. Until now, I've only sampled her Sheikh romances. But let me tell you, the woman knows how to write about sexy cowboys, too!
I adored Cade and Becca. Cade is a single father, trying to keep his ranch going and be the best dad to his 10yo daughter that he can be. Becca is a city girl who's decided that, after receiving a large inheritance, she's done with city life.
The majority of this book is about the two of them denying their feelings for each other (except for one or two slip-ups) while Becca tries to buy Cade's ranch.
I ugly cried twice during this book. And to be honest, I'm still a bit emotionally exhausted. If you're looking for a romantic way to start the new year, this is a fast read and you won't regret it!
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A sweet and steamy story with a big heart.
A good read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me an ARC to read of The Rancher's City Girl in exchange for an honest review.
The Ranchers City Girl is book one of a series about the Wells Brothers.. This novel follows the story of a cowboy named Cade Wells, his daughter Joey and a city girl named Becca. Becca is a city girl interested in buying a ranch, Cade happens to be thinking about selling his, however before buying the ranch Becca request if she can spend a month on the ranch to see if it's the right fit for her. This novel although was short, I fell in love with each and every one of the characters, I got so invested in this novel that I read it in one sitting. The character building was done well in the novel and it make the characters easily likeable. Although the romance was slightly rushed due to the length of the novel I will still be looking forward to picking up the next couple of books in this series.
The Rancher's City Girl by Leslie North is book one in the series. It is the story about Becca and Cade. Becca just inheritance money and she is looking to buy a ranch. She has little to no experience with ranching, but she has her heart set on owning one. Cade has put his ranch up for sale, he wants to start a new life with his daughter. But before Becca buys the Ranch she wants to live there for one month, Cade agrees and the story starts to get interesting. Cade has a daughter Joey that he is raising alone after the death of his wife. Joey adds a good dynamic to this book, I wasn't sure at first but she fir so well into the storyline. Joey is cute and sassy but not rude. Becca and Joey end up building a great relationship.
The chemistry between Cade and Becca is natural and sexy. I loved the characters and storyline. Perfect flow to this story.

This was a first in a new series & new author too me! I really enjoyed this short cowboy romance! Becca is our city girl heroine who gets a big inheritance from her aunt! She wants to move to the country and by a ranch! Lucky for her there’s one for sale near the childhood one she fell in love with! Cade is the single dad cowboy that owns the ranch for sale. When Becca arrives, Cade doesn’t believe she can handle all the ranch cores, so they strike a deal! Becca is ready to prove herself! Cade’s not sure and has a lot of emotional stress he wants to escape. These two have amazing chemistry! The story was a little emotional but so sweet! I really enjoyed every page!
Becca Harding has left New York City with the idea of buying a ranch. She has found one. After walking around with the owner and his daughter she makes an offer of staying with them for a month then if she still wants it, she will give him the full asking price.
Cade Wells cannot believe that a city woman wants to just up and move out to the country and buy a ranch. She also wants to start a whole new way of operating the ranch that he cannot understand for the way they have been doing it for the past 100 years seems just fine. He of course does not want to agree with her that her ideas would save money in the long run. He is still also getting over losing his wife or at least the marriage from ten years ago.
Then there is ten-year-old daughter Jocelyn she does not want to leave the ranch at all. Heck, she does not want to move to the city or wear a dress either she likes it right where she is and now, he has two females to deal with. He also has to deal with feelings that he buried years ago and when everything comes to a head it is time for him to make a decision hopefully, he makes the correct one. This is a good story and I really like Jocelyn the daughter she really made this book work and added the extra hump that it needed. A really good story.
Leslie North has hit another story out of the park! I loved this story about a rancher, his daughter, and the woman who arrives at the ranch looking to buy it. Not just any woman. A city girl. You know what happens next. Yup. She shows him that city girls can adapt to ranch life so easy it is like falling off a log. But it is also the doubts, chaos, pulls at the heartstrings, and general life 5at pulls the characters together.
One of my favorite authors who writes romantic stories that are realistic and true to life. Very satisfying read.
I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is the first book in the Wells Brothers series and follows single dad Cade and city girl Becca. Cade is looking to sell his ranch so he can move his 10 year old daughter to the city to give her the life she deserves. Becca visited a ranch down the street when she was younger and she's looking for a fresh start. Becca may have big dreams, but she's not an idiot and makes a deal with Cade for her to work on the ranch with him for a month to decide if she's cut out for the realities of ranching and then if all goes well, she'll buy the ranch at the end of the month. I did like the overall premise of the story, Cade's backstory was really interesting, and I thought there were a good number of cute scenes that got me smiling. However, this book was simply too short to develop the plot lines that it was looking to develop. My main issue with the pacing of the book was that there were so many times when something happened at the end of a chapter and then the beginning of the next chapter would be hours or days later. For example, a person who is significant to one of the main characters shows up to the ranch at the end of one chapter and I'm fully expecting the next chapter to be them hashing out their history or inserting some sort of conflict into the main plot. Nope. Next chapter starts as if the visitor never came, and I was honestly wondering if that was an editing mistake, but the visitor does show back up in the story later. This happened a number of times and I really think that had those scenes been included in the story, the characters would have been more fully developed and the overall story more engaging. I did think Cade and Becca had pretty good chemistry but I wanted more backstory from Becca. I didn't quite understand why the two characters got together so quickly and outside of the bedroom, I didn't have anything in the story to grab onto to show that they loved each other.
This was a short yet enjoyable read. I think it could have been longer, as I wanted the story and the characters to dig a bit deeper. I liked the main characters of Cade and Becca along with Cade’s daughter Joey. There was good chemistry throughout, but the main motives and character backstories weren’t as strong as I was expecting.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys romance stories that include sex scenes, as there is one steamy scene.
If you are looking for a book that will help you relax after a hard day, easy to read, and interesting enough to keep your attention, then The Rancher's City Girl (Wells Brothers: Book 1) by Leslie North is a great choice for that.
Cade Wells, a man torn between the desire to keep his heritage, the essence of his being on one side and the need to move forward and provide the best for his daughter, Jocelyn on the other side, is quite an interesting character. Almost destroyed by his past, the hardship of his present, marked in some way, lonely ... she meets Becca Harding, a beautiful young woman, burdened by the monotonous everyday life who decides to chase her childhood dream, strong enough to reach for a piece of happiness, and brave enough in order not to give up in front of the first obstacles ..... Although none of them wants it, a storm of passion and emotions catches them unprepared and manages to conquer them both ... in one night when lust and madness culminate ... one night of ultimate joy and passion and morning full of regrets… .. Will they be able to overcome prejudices and indulge in all those emotions that without question penetrate deep into their hearts? Or will they decide that it is better to choose the line of less resistance, less risk?
This book is full of powerful characters, especially little Joyce, young but so brave and witty, that will make you laugh … The main characters’ thoughts are so masterfully conveyed that you simply can feel with them by reading how their struggle to resist the emotions will lead them to wrong conclusions and wrong decisions.Their struggle to resist the irresistible , and Joyce’s attempts to help them choose wisely.
Leslie North's writing style is quite interesting, a blend of simple and complex, at the same time , so that almost every reader can easily follow the story. What I especially liked was her ability to involve you in the plot, using so many details, as you read, the details of the farm and the environment are so real and their way of life so vividly presented. You have the feeling that you can see the landscapes if you just close your eyes.
An easy and interesting read that will relax and make you smile, The Rancher's City Girl (Wells Brothers: Book 1) by Leslie North will definitely provide you with an escape from reality for a few hours.
This book was perfectly fine. And that's all I can really say about it. It was FINE.
Everything here feels like an assembly line of romance novel parts that are strung together in working order, but there's nothing more. Nothing new. Nothing fresh or memorable.
It's a decent way to pass an afternoon (it's fewer than 200 pages long), but the moment you close that back cover you'll never think of this story or these characters again.
Fun read. Second in this new series and a easy read. There is angst, drama, romance, fun and steam along with the HEA expected with these stories. Add this to your relaxation list.
I absolutely loved this book. There was chemistry between the main characters from their first meeting. We have side characters that we fall in love with because they are the cutest ever. The story flows so fluidly. We watch as doubts are erased and a love story starts to bloom. I’m looking forward to reading the next one in this series.
*A big thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book so that I could voluntarily review it. All thoughts and opinions in this review are those of my own.*
This one was just okay for me. It wasn't bad, and I enjoyed it well enough, it just didn't whip me into an "OMG, I have to binge this author now." frenzy. A solid read if you're looking for something though.
This was a perfectly pleasant, short read.
Becca wants to start a new life in the country and Cade wants to sell his ranch and start a new life in the city because he thinks it will be better for his daughter Joey (who is a great character.)
Becca makes him an offer - she'll stay for a month and prove she'll be a good rancher. She does and they fall in love and they have a happy ending.
There's little angst or conflict and the greatest challenge seems to be in getting Cade to accept modern methods that use IT.
The backstory with his poor wife was rather tragic but it didn't really impact the story.
This was a sweet romance. It was refreshing that Cade’s daughter Joey was welcoming and open to Becca. Although, it never seemed really clear to me why Cade would be trying to sell his ranch. He claimed he was doing so for his daughter, though she was extremely happy living there. Overall, it was a good read.
Thanks to Relay Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fast read with a sweet ending. The characters were decent, caring people. I didn’t really understand their chemistry and the ending felt abrupt.
Becca wants to buy Cade's ranch even though she has no experience running one. Cade's not sure that he even wants to sell. She proposes that she live there a month and see how it goes. Becca and Cade grow closer as they work together. Well written. Entertaining book.
The Rancher's City Girl is a very enjoyable book and I appreciate being gifted an ARC on which this review is based. Becca is a business professional from NYC who plans to use an inheritance from her aunt to buy a ranch in Colorado. She spent time in Benton Ridge as a child and the unexpected inheritance will allow her to get out of the city and move to somewhere that she can be happy and carefree. Cade is a rancher who is selling his ranch in a misguided attempt to move his 10-year old daughter, Joey, somewhere that offers more than ranch life. Becca is interested in purchasing Cade's ranch but they agree that she will live there for a month to get the lay of the land before they move forward with the transaction.
There's no conflict or drama in the story but it still holds interest. I wish that we knew more about the secondary characters including Jayne, Danny and Liam, but they almost acted as filler and I don't feel like I got to know them at all. Despite there being only one real intimate moment, and that one is steamy and well written, there's a pleasant journey as Becca and Cade fall in love. The lack of a fifth star is because there could have been more "something". That said, what's there is delightful and worth the couple of hours required to read it.
