Mythology meets contemporary with romance, action, and fate.
I enjoyed this book more than I expected to (nothing against the book I had just heard less than stellar reviews and was nervous). I really loved the blending of a contemporary setting with a mythology take - “gods” hiding among us type thing.
I also enjoyed the romance and relationships depicted in the book. The characters seemed true and well developed and I really liked Castor abs his cinnamon roll-ness!
I will admit to being somewhat confused at times with all of the mythological characters as well as the Agon and what it actually was. I must have not been listening well when it was described but it got a little murky.
I also enjoyed the ending - it felt very fitting - and while I could see another book in this world, I’m good with it being a standalone story. It felt complete.
I will also say it felt pretty long. I think it could have been shortened in some areas but that’s just personal preference.
Note: Language and violence.
My rating: 3.8*

Thanks to NetGally and the publisher for this gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

I’m not a huge fan of retelling or Greek things but I loved this one and I feel mainly because I love the author.

A huge thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the advance viewing of this awesome title. First of all, that cover is amazing! It was so eye catching that I knew I had to read it.
This retelling of Greek Myth is fresh and fun! Readers will see names they know and some they don't in this new YA take on mythology. You won't be disappointed as you follow Lore on her path to get revenge and change her world as she knows it. To do that she will have to rejoin the hunt...no matter what the consequences might be.

I really enjoyed this one, it was a lot of fun. There were so many things I'd change about this book if I had written it but I didn't write so it was honestly perfect and fun. I don't always enjoy this author but I did have lot's fun reading this book and would recommend it. It was easy to fall into the characters and setting, and it was fast paced enough to keep me invested and interested.

Wow.
The twists and turns Lore takes is worse than an actual Greek tragedy.
I absolutely adored the story and I can get behind Lore with almost all of her actions 100%. The character development is absolutely fabulous and I loved it so much.
The fact that the development focused on, not only the main characters, but also the side characters was perfect. It added so much more to the narrative that otherwise would have been too straightforward to be based in Greek Mythology.
The relationships that they each had was one of the most relatable parts of the whole book. Castor was definitely a sweetheart that has been added to my armada of book boyfriends. Miles and Val were so well rounded too. Like I loved that whole dynamic both with each other and with Lore.
I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to read it. I’m not gonna lie though, it took me a minute to get into it. But I utterly loved it.

I love everything about Greek Mythology and was beyond excited when this book was announced. I couldn't read Lore fast enough. While the beginning was a little slow, it picked up fast and kept the pace going. Between the brilliant characters and plot filled book, it was one I couldn't put down.
The characters that filled the pages had great backstories and fascinating stories that intertwined beautifully together.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken is such an amazing book and was everything I hoped for. I was really impressed with this one. I wasn't sure what I would be reading into in this book but I was drawn in right away. Every seven years the Agon begins. (The Agon is like a Hunger Games style event that happens with the gods and goddesses and their families.) Agon came about because Zeus created this hunt as a punishment to the gods. This Hunt goes on for seven days as the ancient bloodline families hunt each other down hoping to gain the new title of god or goddess. This year something is wrong. The Agon is in New York City and it is beginning with the "new" Ames permanently killing other gods. Next thing Lore knows Athena is badly injured and on her doorstep.
Bracken did such a good job with laying this story out. I really enjoyed the plot line and all the characters. Lore is absolutely amazing. As a reader I could really tell how much work Bracken put into this story. There was an entire history of the games and all of the rules. I love that we got all the information as we were reading the story and not with big information dumps. I found Lore to be such a fun character. She has a horrifically sad back story being the last person of her bloodline but she is such a warrior. With everything that Lore went through she was such an impressive character. To top everything off, we even have a bit of a friends to lovers romance sub plot going on as well. Definitely check Lore out. I totally wish there was more because I loved this book so much. Lore is a standalone. If you like Greek mythology this is definitely a great book to check out.

I had a hard time getting into this one. I adore Alexandra Bracken but this was a little confusing at the start. I ended up setting it down with the intention of picking it back up again.

While I didn't particularly like this book that much, I still ordered it for my library. It just felt a bit too unrealistic with these major battles happening and this seventeen year old girls who was the strongest person ever.

I will say it took me forever to actually sit down and read this book and I'm not sure why...I love a good greek mythology and the concept of this was interesting. Reading this reminded so much of the Mortal Instruments series which isn't necessarily a good thing. I, honestly, wanted more the greek mythology aspect but overall it was a satisfying story, albeit way too long. I will say I am glad this was a standalone and not a drawn out series.
I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Great new add to any YA collection, might be a harder read for those who tend to be on the fence with YA and adult titles.

Thank you so much to netgalley for sending me a cooy of this book. I didnt think I was going to like this book when I first started it but I fell in love!

I had to DNF this one. The idea and world sounded so good but the plot and characters just fell short for me and I kept finding myself loosing interest and being able to predict everything that was about to happen. Just not for me, sadly.

I was so excited for this book. I love Greek Mythology and so I had an open mind reading book. The plot was good, and so were the character dynamics, but it took me such a long time to get into the book. The first half of the book was hard to get through, but once that passes, the plot quickens.

I truly enjoyed this book. A little more violent than I expected, but still enjoyed it. I would recommend it for more older teens who enjoyed the percy jackson series.

This book has proven popular with my students! Mythology-inspired stories continue to be popular and Bracken's work has been well received.

While I fully acknowledge Lore will not work for every Reader, I freaking loved it and am not afraid to admit it!

I did not finish this fantasy after several attempts. It may be that it just didn't appeal to me as an adult reader.

I loved this book! If you took dystopian fantasy and mixed it with greek mythology, you'd get Lore. Melora is a awesome main character, and the depth the author was able to give to her made me so much more invested in seeing her succeed. Can't wait to read the next from Bracken!

I thought this would be like a modern day Medusa retelling. Instead, I have no idea what it was. It felt like it was a Hunger Games retelling but with Greek Gods. I am very confused by this book. Still, I recommend this fans of Mercedes Lackey, Suzanne Collins, and Rick Riordan.
