The simplest way to put this - too much.
I was really excited for this one after ready The Beast by Sarah Wilson, but this really was not it for me. It felt a lot like trying to read three different books at once during a rock concert. The entire book felt disorganized and crammed with unnecessary information and streams of consciousness.
I think there were some good things buried in this book, but they were nearly impossible to uncover or follow through.
This book was fine, but there was nothing that set it apart for me from other similar books. I do think it has some useful guidance that could help those new to this genre.
Thought provoking - Rambling, in some ways good. Interesting to say the least! Left me with some questions !
I absolutely adopted Wilson's debut and was anxiously awaiting her sophomore book. However, it left me underwhelmed.
I enjoyed this one and enjoyed doing an Instagram Live interview with her. She is very insightful and engaging.
This second book by Sarah Wilson fell short for me in comparison to her first book. It was slow moving and more spiritual than I enjoy.
This is a beautiful book for this moment in time. Deep insights, thoughtful observations, and entertaining anecdotes will have you looking at the world in different light by the time you reach the end. Perfect for readers of Jia Tolentino.
A wonderful follow-up to Beast and so on the mark for 2020 — a book on self discovery AND collective action. There’s tips, advice, storytelling, requests, and hope inside. A quick, inspirational, personal but applicable book for our present and a call to action for our future.
This book rings so many of my bells: self-help! Introspection! Reflection! Empathy! Purpose! What it all means! But I wasn't able to finish it, and I'm opting not to write a more formal review of this one, despite the promise of it being a perfect book for this 2020 moment. Unfortunately, too much of the language was steeped in seemingly out-of-place bodyshaming ("fat with laziness," etc.) that proved both disheartening and distracting from the message at hand.
