My daughter liked this book and the drawings were really nice. It was colorful and inviting to see. Even when you read the sentences the words were easy to understand. I was able to ask my kids questions about the book and they easily understood it.

In this collection of stories, Kitty is looking for a quiet place and meets Dragon. Then Dragon takes care of Kitty when she has a cold. And finally, Dragon and Kitty find out how to live together when one is a neat freak and the other is not.

The text in this book is very simple (think Frog & Toad type writing), but still sufficient to tell stories with a decent plot. The illustrations are adorable, and I love how Dragon and Kitty care for each other, and learn how to work together to get the chores done. They are good examples on top of being fun and cute characters to read about. Highly recommended to fantasy fans, kitty lovers, or dragon lovers just getting into chapter books.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was adorable. The artwork was bright and captivating, and each of the three stories included in this volume were unique and enjoyable. I felt they really showed how different friends can be while still learning how to play and take care of each other. The text was fairly simple, making this a good story for beginner readers. Definitely a cute story for all ages.

Kitty and Dragon is three stories in one book and this is the first volume with more planned in the future. In our first story, we meet the gorgeous Kitty as she goes wandering trying to find somewhere quiet as she gets fed up with the loud noises. The other animals she passes on her journey warn her to be careful about the silent Dragon she is nearing.

In the second story, Kitty gets a cold and Dragon gets to look after her. The third story is about Kitty and Dragon learning to live together and about being more caring towards one another as Kitty is tidy and Dragon is messy.

The book is exceptionally cute and has amazing illustrations. It is a story of friendship and what friends do for one another. The text is kept to a minimum so it would be perfect for new readers.

The book was a real joy to read and I love how each of the stories focused on one area of friendship. This would be lovely to have at home or even to be used as a class read to show the children what friendship is all about.

In the first part of this three-part series, Kitty looks for a quiet home and finds a place with the quiet Dragon. The later two stories focus on taking care of friends who are sick and learning to live together when friends are opposites. These best friends may be very different, but they care deeply for each other and work hard to make their friendship the best it can be.

The art in this is so cute! I love cats and dragons, and by making them best friends, this book series instantly hooked me. This one is perfect for beginning readers, introducing them to characters, plot, and connecting stories (predecessor to chapter books). It’s out in October, so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the early copy!

This is a sweet children’s book about a Kitty and Dragon, a compilation of three short stories. The first tells how Kitty and Dragon meet, the second focuses on how to care for others, and the third is about how to work together as a team. A good, quick book for young readers!

This book was recommended to me by a second grader who said it was the best thing she read this Summer. I have to say, she has good taste. I did preorder a physical copy for my library, but was excited to get the opportunity to read it myself.

It is the actually three stories in one, which is always good for young readers to be able to meet characters and then follow them in digestible amounts. I love the first story of the unlikely friendship between Kitty and Dragon. I like the quiet too, and as our school mascot is a Dragon - I totally identified with Kitty.

In the second story, I adored that Dragon first turned to a book to learn how to take care of his sick friend. And then in the third story, when Kitty accepts Dragon for himself and the friendship is so sweet... I was sold. I will recommend this to all my 1-2 graders and be on the look out for this darling series to continue..

Kitty and Dragon by Meika Hashimoto and illustrated by Gillian Reid is a collection of three short stories. These feature the adorable duo a fearless cat who is on a mission to find some quiet respite from her very noisy life at the barn; and a dragon who leads a lonely life on top of a mountain.

How their friendship develops is the theme for the first story and how the two learn that friends can be really different but still love each other the same, makes for the other two stories.

Both my kids loved the stories and the vibrant illustrations. While all the stories are written in a very simple and clear language, the big illustrations beautifully coloured bring so much joy to the readers. Brought out by Epic! the largest digital library for kids who are now creating wildest adventures with the help of world's best story writers and illustrators.

In the first installment of Kitty & Dragon, we meet our delightfully odd couple. Kitty just wants some peace and quiet and finds herself in the midst of a seemingly silent Dragon's lair. The two become fast friends and several short, simple, and sweet stories about their relationship ensue. The illustrations are also beautifully done and super cute!

Oh my gosh, this story was so damn cute! I wanna write a story like Meika Hashimoto's Kitty and Dragon. Illustrated by Gillian Reid, this was honestly one of the most adorable stories I've ever read. So much so that I would just die if it was made into a kid's show (anyone up for making that happen?). I would definitely make my nieces watch it just to have an excuse to do so myself.

Kitty Just Wants Some Quiet

In the beginning, Kitty and Dragon have never met. In fact, Kitty lives in a barn. But Kitty can't stand to be around all the noise. It interrupts her sleep. Thus, Kitty sets out to find a quiet place to live.

Meanwhile, as Kitty journeys through the land she meets a variety of creatures all warning her away from the silent dragon. Despite how scary everyone makes the dragon out to be, one thing sticks with Kitty. That dragon is silent.

Next thing you know Kitty has arrived at the dragon's cave. Within moments she realizes she has found an amazingly quiet place to live. And she is thrilled.

Kitty's Got the Sniffles

As if this series couldn't get any more heartwarming, after living with dragon for some time Kitty catches a cold. Dragon quickly grows sad since Kitty's cold means that she won't be around to join him in kite flying. But, instead of responding in any selfish manner, dragon instead decides to go to his library and read about how to take care of a sick Kitty.

Thus we are presented with an adorable little montage of dragon being the best caretaker ever for his new roommate. Also, I just loved that library. Ultimately, I don't think Kitty could have ever found a better friend to live with. And, even better, I don't think dragon could have met a better roommate than kitty.

Living with Mess-Makers

Oh my gosh, I laughed so much at this one.

I didn't realize that I could relate so much to a simple kid's story. But, here I am, just dying with laughter at Kitty's most recent problem with Dragon. Turns out Dragon is a giant mess-maker. He leaves his dishes out when Kitty cleans up hers. He treks mud all over the cave after Kitty had just cleaned. In general, Dragon just sucks at being neat when Kitty is the cleanest there ever is.

Now, I won't claim to be the cleanest ever like Kitty. But I definitely know what it's like to live with someone who leaves their messes all over the place and treks in all kinds of nonsense from the backyard that I will then have to clean up. Dishes and paper towels are left all over the place when they belong in the dishwasher and the trash, respectively.

So, how will Kitty deal with the messy, messy Dragon? In one of the best ways ever.

Art, Message, and Readability

The strongest piece of this series is the artwork. Hats of to Gillian Reid because she drew some of the cutest characters I have ever seen. I loved everything about the visuals in Kitty and Dragon. Not only was it all absolutely adorable, but everything was bright and colorful. Wide-eyed Kitty and long-tailed Dragon were engaging throughout.

Each little story included in this volume had a simple, but important message in it. I loved that so much. There's something for children to learn on nearly every page, resulting in a book that I can definitely get behind supporting.

As an educator who specializes in teaching children to read, I have a tendency to pay very close attention to reading levels. This is considered an early reader series, though I would caution parents who have struggling readers against starting with this book. If you've got a kid who doesn't quite have a lot of multi-syllables yet, it may be best to start with something a little different. That said, if your first grader already has an adequate grasp of how to decode those words, have at it.

This was adorable! I am instantly drawn in to anything that has a cat on the cover or is about cats so I took the opportunity to read this one immediately.

I am so glad that I did! This collection of stories about Kitty and Dragon brought me some much needed joy. I just know that this book will make anyone happy, no matter their age.

The messages included in this were great, the art was adorable and overall this experience was so joyful.

I recommend this if you’re needing a little pick me up, you like cats or you have kids or all three!

5/5 🌟

This beginning reader is playfully illustrated in a cartoon like style. The text is just right for early readers and has enough repetition and familiar words so that readers will feel competent as they make their way through the three stories in the book.

In the first, readers will find out why Kitty wanted a new home and how she met Dragon. Was she afraid? Can their friendship work? No spoiler really to say that they are perfect for one another and attentive to each other’s needs.

In the second story, children see how Dragon cares for Kitty when she gets a bad cold while in the third Kitty and Dragon try to find the right balance between messy and neat. All three stories look like fun, humorous reads for the book’s intended audience.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
