A long and thought provoking read. The cover has an excellent synopsis of the book so I will not attempt any details. Take your time reading it so you can do a little soul searching on the way. This would make an excellent book for discussion for a Christian book club.
I was provided this book as and Advanced Reader Copy and was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.
Awesome Emotional Journey
This book will take the reader on an emotional journey. We join our heroine relive the story of her homelessness; from an abusive past to a decade of living on the road. Reminiscent of 'The Perfect Stranger' movies, she is befriended by a man who leads her to what she has really been searching for. The story is painful to read until he joyous conclusion. I highly recommend this book. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
What would you do if you were homeless and depended on charity for all of your needs? Read this story from a homeless girl's point of view. From Arizona to Ohio, she walked, rode in trucks, camped and stayed at homeless shelters to stay alive. She had been married once, to an unfaithful man who had only wanted children, and she was barren. She had a car, lost it and stayed at a college boarding house for one night and a college girl found her pills and booze and OD''d and she ran away. Meet the people she meets and learn of her past-homelessness is real and raw! But a stranger enters her life-see what happens!
ROAD HOME by LEIGH LINCOLN is the poignant story of a homeless woman that will pull at your heart strings. It really made me think - are we not all homeless until we find our home in Christ?
Cindy has been on the road for ten long years seeking freedom from abusive parents and an abusive husband. She has a very low self image and is afraid of trusting anyone, especially God, who she does not believe exists.
As we journey with her we wonder if she is going to accept the truth about God and His love for her, or if she is going to be homeless for ever.
I like the way the author shows that people are more impressed with Christians who walk the walk rather than just talking the talk!
It is a really inspirational and well written book and the story and characters will stay with you a long time.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from BooksGoSocial. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
