This one was super enjoyable- especially if you love family dynamics! GOOD EGGS follows a multigenerational Irish family living in a small town in Dublin where everyone knows everybody and everything. It was fun, funny, entertaining, and a roller coaster of emotions that I think will appeal to a lot of readers. Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book!

This book makes an amazing summer read. I was utterly absorbed in this book! The characters are all amazing in their own way, and I was attached to all of them. I was immediately enthralled and ultimately sad when the book ended because I wanted to stay in their world forever! Beautifully written, funny, and emotional, I cannot wait for Rebecca's next book!

I just love a good multigenerational family novel. This was a heartfelt novel and I am huge fan of Millie.

When Kevin Gogarty’s eighty-three-year-old mother, Millie, is caught shoplifting yet again, he has no choice but to hire a caretaker to keep an eye on her. Kevin, is unemployed and has started aging out of his career, he’s now being a stay at home dad to his teenage kids. Things take a turn when one of his sixteen year old twins becomes too much to handle, she she is sent to a boarding school. Aiden, the teenager in question, tries to find friends and then possibly romance. The story is a snapshot of their lives at the current moment and bounces back and forth between Kevin, Millie, and Aideen's perspectives. Kevin was unlike able but it was an interesting story and you get the whole family dynamic.

This was a cute read. I downloaded this during pandemic, but it sat unread on my kindle for 2+ years. Picked it up again whilst on a plane and found it to be a completely adorable, comical, absurd, contemporary Irish family story told from three generations of the Gogarty clan. But I don't think it's an urgent, must-read.

I liked Evvie Drake and Bernadette (Where'd you go Bernadette) which this book was marketed as similar to. It was cute! I would recommend it!

Good Eggs is written in three POVs from three generations in the same family - middle aged dad, his mom, and one of his daughters. The term good eggs is how the grandmother, Millie, classifies kind people. Let's just say that any of these three may not be awarded the good egg descriptor.
This family is definitely dysfunctional. But in the way most normal families are when they refuse to honestly communicate. The book is filled with quirky, unimaginable, yet very relatable situation. While I wouldn't exactly classify this as a favorite book, it was enjoyable once I got into it and understood the main characters' personalities more.

Long overdue, and third time IS the charm, I guess.
Loved the premise and the comps, but just couldn't settle into it the first two times I picked up the book. However, this last time I managed to stick with it a while longer even though the characters were not always appealing.

Kevin Gogarty is an unsympathetic mess, quite frankly, and I really just didn't like him as a character at the start - it took a while for me to build any empathy for him (and it was minimal, really.). His mom Millie IS a character, a bit sad, really, as is Aideen, his daughter.

This was touted as "hilarious and heartfelt". It delivered on the latter, but hilarious isn't the word I'd choose. Quirky, yes, and a romp (where it came to Millie and Aideen when they go on their adventure - that was a delight), but overall, I was glad for a bit of a happy ending to redeem it.

Glad to have read it just to have sated my curiosity. It was a good enough story to pass an afternoon.

Interesting read!! This ended up being a select for my local book club. That made the book more enjoyable.

Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me at the time. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future.

Millie is 83 and living near Dublin and she has started shoplifting. This story follows Millie and her family. The novel has been sold as really hilarious but I found it to be quite sad and Millie’s son is intolerable. Overall I thought this one was okay.

Good Eggs was charming, funny, and left that wam-fuzzy feeling when reading a book you can't put down.

When the blurb promotes the book as hilarious and heartfelt it sets a high bar. Unfortunately I don't think Good Eggs reached that bar.

This book was absolutely hilarious. I had such a laugh reading it from start to finish. I actually finished this book awhile back and hadn't remembered to add my review in before but the story still sits with me. I highly recommend this read for an enjoyable, fast, light read.

I enjoy multigenerational family stories and I was hoping to like this one more than I did. In the end, it was too slow paced for me.

Told through the eyes of three different members (and generations) of the Gogarty family, the book opens with Millie Gogarty's fateful trip to the grocery store, setting into motion events which will lead the entire clan into various (mis)adventures and scrapes. Millie, Kevin and Aideen -- each with their own individual shortcomings -- are struggling through personal difficulties, striving to do the right thing and muddle through. The plot starts with Millie's shoplifting and moves quickly from event to event, throwing up challenges befitting teenaged Aideen, middle-aged Kevin and elderly Millie, all while providing each character's inner monologue. Each character has an individual charm, but Millie's character and storyline felt the ideal combination of funny and touching (fittingly enough, featured on the cover). The storylines intersect to always eventually bring them together again, and despite each of them at various points feeling abandoned, they ultimately find that come what may, they can always rely on family (as all are essentially "good eggs").

DNF at 15%.

I usually like character driven novels, but Good Eggs failed to full pull me into the story and I've decided to stop. There is also something within the writing style that isn't working for me personally.
