Secrets Nights with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crews is book one in her new Kittredge Ranch series, published by St. Martin's Press.
Meet Riley Kittredge and Rae Trujillo. Both are so different fom each , and on the other hand they have one thing in common, they're married to each other. Their marriage suffered some difficulties, they're estranged, one of them wants a divorce. But at the same time there's still ember under the ashes. The man who loves working with horses, his land, loves being a cowboy isn't ready to give up.
SNwaC is a beautiful heart warming story with twist and turns that had me on the edge of my seat.
A beautiful story, touching, unputdownable.
Interesting addition to this series. The story has very little actual action in the plot, but rather takes place in the minds and emotions of the main characters, Rae and Riley. Readers get a very personal, in-depth view of a marriage in shambles. The problems in their relationship should be private, but instead are very public. It’s a small town and two founding families, so everyone has an opinion or chooses a side to blame or just enjoys gossiping about their very public pain. Interesting study of a very emotional topic.
Rae and Riley have been married for a few years, but they've not been together. Finally Rae decided that past is a paste and she wants divorce. Riley is ok with this, or so she think so. But both of them loved each other for so long. Then Rae tells Riley the secret she hold for a few years and it looks like end of everything.
I did like the book, was not fan of Rae.
This was pretty good. I felt like it was a bit slow to start, but overall I enjoyed it. The way the big mystery got referred to at the start of the book, you'd have thought she murdered someone and buried them in a shallow grave, so I was worried the entire book was going to be eyeroll-worthy, but it ended up settling into a great read!
I loved this Cowboy Romance. It was a great story. The author did a great job on developing the two main characters, Rae and Riley. They are high school sweethearts that marry young and separate (but not really). You must read to find out their ending. This story is very engaging, kept me up when I should have been sleeping. Once I started reading it was hard for me to put down. Even though this story is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I can't wait to read the next installment. I would recommend this book.
I received an advance copy from NetGalley for my honest opinion.
A cowboy romance about a secret relationship between a married couple. They tried to let go of each other but couldn’t. This is her fourth book in this series.
Thanks Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Secret Nights with a cowboy has Riley and Rae who were childhood sweethearts and married young now separated after too many arguments to count, although Riley has no idea why Rae walked out and she refuses to tell him, her friends or family.
Although 8 years have passed Rae can’t keep away and often visits Riley at night where their passion continues unabated. An entertaining enough story but I have to say when the great reveal finally came I couldn’t understand why she had put them both through so much heartbreak, but as Rae gave her reasons and Riley looked back to his past behaviour the scales fell from his eyes as he realised how Rae would perceive what his attitude could have been.
Lots of angst and love and passion but for me this story didn’t quite hit the mark.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
What could be better than a sexy, brooding cowboy, who has a secret relationship with his wife? Riley and Rae are stuck in an intimate, and very private, dance that continues for years after they separated. Their entire relationship has burned hot, complete with fights leaving the house is disarray. But Riley doesn't know why they separated, and Rae's kept it a secret that she hasn't shared with anyone.
The characters have a depth and heart that makes them feel real and come to life on the pages. Their story is messy and painful, but feels real. I found myself engrossed in their story and invested in them getting a HEA ending.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is a master at her craft and creating characters that stick with you. She is on my must read authors' list. As a bonus, there is a novella included that is every bit as good as the titled novel. Put this one on your must read list.

Though I really liked this novel, and stayed up all night to read it, I did have some issues with it, mainly that the synopsis is misleading and spoiler-y , the big secret is something that I don't really think should be used as a twist, and the main conflict only existed because of miscommunication. Besides, the amount of time they spent apart seemed excessively long, too, all those years apart because Rae refused to tell Riley something that also pertained to him?
Even with those issues, I liked the book, it was well-written, emotionally intense and gripped you right from the beginning. Moreover, as a longtime reader of Caitlin Crews's novels, I know that some of the books tend to be a bit boring because the characters seem stuck in their own inner monologue and nothing really happens. With this novel, I didn't feel like that happened as much.
4.3 stars.
