I think this book is slightly mis marketed, as it doesn't feel like a romance to me. Also, the main characters were quite a bit older than I had expected or thought them to be.
Scout is a gorgeous little puppy and a little angel. I love how dogs bring people together.
I really liked this book and loved the fact that a dog was the start of bringing a community back together, and help heal Scout's carers lives (and knit them together). It was a great insight to the whisky business in Scotland, and how one industry influences the whole island and how it operates.
The families and characters involved are so interlinked, it's really interesting to find out how.
You feel so sorry for Suzy and her situation, and love how that turns around, along with her slightly awkward family history and reasoning for coming back to the island. She turns from being a tourist, to an employer and then a local.
You can't help but be intrigued when you read this.
How delightful - a dog makes such a difference. People talk to you and greet you when without the dog they may just pass you by.
Scout was a lucky boy having such a network of people wound into the stories of the people involved
Such a great book. Made me want to visit one of the Scottish Hebridean islands, do a distillery tour and have a part ownership in a dog. Suzy and Scout have a wonderful time and I really enjoyed their story. Fiona Gibson at her best.
Super cute book, and who can turn down an uplifting, light story that has dogs in it! Great for an easy quick read that will have you giggling and smiling throughout.
I love books about dogs, this one was a sweet and funny love story. The main character, Suzy, finds her life changed for the better when she takes in a stray terrier and names him Scout. Suddenly her children are visiting again and she meets a lovely man. Scout is able to bring disparate people together, and changes Suzy’s life.
I really liked this book, 3 stars. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A very engaging story that had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions and brought me to the verge of tear at others. Read it. You won’t be disappointed. Scout is a complete angel and reminds me of my boy Benji 😍💕
What a great and cute little book! Found it a really interesting and great to switch off. The perfect beach read!
A lovely book about friendship and the difference that a dog can make to people's lives. Definitely a book for animal lovers who will fully appreciate it
*Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book for review, all opinions are my own*
This book was not what I was expecting, I think the cover may have misled me a little about what this story was.
First that we have much older characters here than I thought but that didn't bother me and second that I don't think I would classify this book as a romance since I think it has very little of it.
For the first 50% of this book almost nothing happens, we are only introduced to the characters and their lives, they don't even meet in this first part of the book, which is why I would say that this book is not about romance. The name of the book is also a bit misleading there is a dog share but it happens halfway to the end of the book and as a device for the main couple to meet.
I didn't think the romance was well built, I thought it happened too quickly and the relationship didn't develop well.
Besides that, in the last 50% of the book, everything seems to happen.
I would say that the end of the book is much more interesting than the beginning, I didn't hate the book, it just wasn't what I was expecting and it wasn't well executed in my opinion either.
The author could have done several different things that would have made the story more fluid and well-developed, as well as being fun to read.
I received this book complimentary from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
I just could not get into this. Holy cow. In the first 11% she flashbacks 4 times before we even get to the dog. Then I’m baffled because she says she is somewhere remote to her and friendless but she is talking to a friend? I honestly just gave up. Way too many flashbacks for my taste. I couldn’t get into this at all. I didn’t like the main character much though I appreciated that she was older and past parenthood so I was looking forward to a love story beyond parenting. But I just can’t bring myself to get this one. I stopped reading at 22%.
I gave it two stars because I don’t think the writing is bad? I am not sure why I couldn’t get into this.
DNF @43%
not for me so i have given a middle of the board rating. I do believe many people will enjoy this
After breaking up with her boyfriend who she bought a business with, Suzy Medley is left with a failing brewery and a broken heart. Her ex wants nothing to do with it, so she must right the ship so the loyal employees don’t lose their jobs, as it’s on a remote island. An abandoned dog, Scout appears just when she needs him to brighten her day. Can Suzy find success with running a business even though it’s the last thing she ever wanted?
I found this sweet romance to be slow moving and a little dull, to be honest. The characters weren’t very developed and didn’t grow or adapt to the changes in their lives, so I wasn’t engaged in their success or happiness.
The Dog Share was another fab book by Fiona Gibson and certainly did not disappoint. Such a lovely, easy to read book that I could not put down. A great escape from the cold weather to a lovely Scottish setting.
Thank you to Netgalley for a pre publication copy. In return for an honest review! #Thedogshare #netgalley
Suze Medley and her boyfriend have purchased a distillery in the outer hebrides. His aim is to change things around to make the distillery better. Until it all goes barrels up! Whilst Ricky lives in Glasgow and visits the outer hebrides where his dad lives. Can both their lives change when young dog Scout comes into the light!
I have read "When life gives you lemons" one of Fiona's other books. I loved it so much I knew I wanted to read her new title.
Once opening the book it is a page turner. You are always being given secrets and cliff hangers for you to be a detective with whilst wanting to read on to find the answers. These are answered one by one throughout the book. Although the last one is not answered until the very last page!
This is a fabulously holistic book. This book makes you cry and laugh out loud.
Each character has their own story. Whilst being read in paralell and is very artistically intertwined to create a beautiful story of passion on both sides.
This book is a great read all year round and you never feel that you are missing anything from the story line allowing you to follow it through until the end with confidence.
Although their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as addiction, gambling, single fathers, newcomers, amongst other things. I do not feel this takes away from the joyous and honest feel of the book and I feel actually gives each character a third dimension to get your teeth into. Whilst showing that with empowerment, independence and teamwork you can do anything.
Throughout this book you are being given life lessons, special intricate messages and codes of how to decipher the difficulties in life. This is done in a fun and humorous way which means you are getting so much life advise from this book without knowing it.
I have lived in Scotland for 3 years, previously, therefore really appreciated the true Scottish style and setting within the book and introduction to Island life.
This is a great book about second chances and the love that a pet can bring into your life when you least expect it.
I enjoyed this book overall. I thought there would be more substance to the plot but it was still a good read and I became fond of the characters and was rooting for them throughout the storyline and their development.
It was an interesting fun read, but lacked a little story and character development for me to be completely invested. But a good book overall!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory
Such an adorable story! I really enjoyed it. It was everything I needed it to be!
I love how much the love of a dog can change ones life!
