The recommendation for fans of Pratchett pulled me in, but the passing similarities of the intersection of fantasy and humor wasn't enough to keep me engaged. The characters felt similar in their styles, and the overall story just didn't hook me. No major grammatical or editing issues, just not my cup of tea.
Sievert & Gray, Dectors
I picked this book up because the title and cover made me think it was a YA steampunk mystery. Being a post-apocalyptic mystery, I was a bit disappointed to say the least. Even though it was a very different book than I expected, I enjoyed it - there was a lot of humor that reminded me of Pratchett. My biggest complaint - which happens to me for a lot of Sci Fi and Fantasy - is all the unusual names. I feel like I spend the first quarter of the book learning a new language almost.
Overall, not what I expected, but still recommended.
I had a lot of fun reading this book as I liked the humor and the characters.
It is a highly enjoyable and entertaining read, the plot is well thought and the characters are interesting.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Terry Pratchett meets Mad Max?
Methinks not, I think the author has written a book that is amusing and has action but it is vastly overrating itself with that claim, worth a read but not a classic
Honestly, this bored me to tears. I had so hoped it would be good, the description sounded right up my alley. It seemed like the kind of thing Terry Pratchett would write, and I was all about that! But it bored me, and I just couldn't finish it. Maybe it would appeal to someone else. It does have a wonderful author's voice, and some unique world-building.
