It was such a delight to hang out with the Brown's again!
I love a trope of confined spaces, it's just so hard to resist the tension between the characters!
I bonded with Eve the least of the sisters in the family. However, I did bond with her enough to constantly call her Evie, as though we were old friends.
There's something special about a final book in a series. You get to revisit your favorite characters with their respective partners. You confirm that the duo's were MFEO. (You know you get that reference! Sleepless in Seattle? Made for Each Other!)
I would consider the steam level of this novel to fall in line with the whole series, as a 5 out of 5 steam level..
Okay let's talk about the hero in this book. I very much liked Jacob- I appreciated his candor and his specificity of every to-do list item at his Bed and Breakfast. Oh, did I not mention He was the owner of a B&B? I know! Can it be anymore Hallmark themed? I love it! (Let's be clear, it's Hallmark with a 5 steam level!)
Let's talk about the character who stood out the most to me... Jacob's best friend! I loved him and his sisters, and I hope then get a series on their own!
Overall this book was a 3.5- 4 star read- but falls into the four stars simply for getting to revisit my greatly missed Brown sisters!
Talia Hibbert was an author that made me fall in love with reading romance. i first read Get a Life, Chloe Brown in 2019 and thought ‘No romance will ever top this’ and then I read Take a Hint, Dani Brown last year and i thought ‘No romance will ever top this’ and now i’ve just read Act Your Age, Eve Brown, and somehow Talia Hibbert just keeps one-upping herself.
once i picked this up, i couldn’t put it down. when i went to work, i found sneaky moments to allow myself one page to read (sometimes more). i couldn’t help it. just as eve was sucked into castell cottage, so was i. It was delightful to watch as eve and jacob challenged each other and watching them adapt to their work dynamic was so rewarding.
like the preceding brown sisters, eve isn’t only finding romance, but she’s learning more about herself and becoming more self accepting. what i loved about this novel is that neither eve nor jacob ever changed anything about themselves to appeal to the other. in fact, what was a turn off for other people in their lives, the two of them loved the other more for it. it was so lovely to have characters struggle with certain parts of themselves and then eventually come to love and appreciate that about them. with eve, we get to witness this first hand as she bumbles from job opportunity to job opportunity, feeling ashamed of herself for not quite understanding why and of failing.
that, too, was relatable. not knowing your passions and struggling to find work that fulfills you is such a fear, but to see eve figure out what she wants after years of disappointment, was divine.
talia hibbert is a genius and i truly cannot wait to read what she writes in the future and also can’t wait to dig into her previous publications!
gives yourself some happiness and pick up these books!
Those fabulous Brown sisters! I loved Get A Life, Chloe Brown, and Take A Hint, Dani Brown, so I couldn’t wait to read the third book about the youngest Brown, Eve. I loved her journey of self-discovery as she learned to trust herself. She meets hers match with Jacob and sparks fly. The Bed & Breakfast setting was cute & the supporting characters were wonderful too. We see a little more of Eve’s quirky family (& some *very* hot sex scenes) so it was overall another delightful story from Talia Hibbert.
Talia Hibbert deals with pretty serious issues with such hilarity that it is no wonder that by the end of her novels, you feel better for reading them. Eve Brown and Jacob Wayne *might* be my favorite of Hibbert's couples, but it is hard to just choose one. Act Your Age was hilarious and we love a good grump. I will definitely be telling people about this one (and the other Brown Sisters novels as well!).
Thanks to @avonbooks and @taliahibbert for my gifted copy of Act Your Age, Eve Brown! I may or may not have squealed in joy when it arrived. Act Your Age, Eve Brown comes out on March 9th.
In this book, we meet the third Brown sister: Eve. The youngest one, Eve has had trouble landing on a career path that she likes. After a disastrous wedding incident, Eve goes out on a drive, and tries to interview at a bed and breakfast for a job. As the owner, Jacob Wayne, is coming out to tell her that she got the job, she backs up her car to leave and accidentally hits him! Short staffed, and now very injured, Jacob is forced to hire Eve. However, as she starts to work her magic and help him around the bed and breakfast, Jacob’s very frosty and hard exterior slowly begins to melt.
Y’all, Talia Hibbert did it AGAIN! If you loved the first two Brown sisters books, you’ll love this one as well. The trademark humor, steam, and sass are all there. I was laughing audibly at several points while reading this book. Romance readers, Act Your Age, Eve Brown is definitely for you.
Another big reason that Talia Hibbert will always have my heart is that she is very upfront about any potential triggers or issues within her books. She includes a note at the front, and details what they are. You don’t see this often, and it’s such a kind gesture to do.
I can’t not explain how amazing this book was! I knew from the very beginning I would love it! Dani, Chloe, and now Eve have had some amazing books. The romances feel so real and the problems touch my soul every time. I can not explain how happy this book had made me. Now, I just need to get my hands on the physical copy.
I went into this one knowing that I was going to love it, but I truly did not expect to fall for Eve and Jacob as hard as I did. There were multiple times that I found myself smiling and giggling while reading their banter and honestly their chemistry leapt off of every single page. I'm so sad that this book marks the end of the Brown Sisters trilogy but I am SO GLAD that it ended on such a high note and I honestly think that Jacob might even be my favorite of all three of the heroes. Ugh everything about this series was just perfect and and I cannot WAIT to read everything Talia Hibbert publishes in the future!!!
Act Your Age, Eve Brown is the third Book in The Brown Sisters series by Talia Hibbert. Eve Brown has been fumbling through her adult life without a sense of direction. She has bounced from job to job and her parents are finally putting their foot down. They want Eve to grow up and hold a job for at least a year before they restart her trust fund payments. When Eve happens upon interviews in progress for a chef position at a bed and breakfast, she gets in for an interview. Jacob Wayne, the owner of the bed and breakfast, makes it clear that he is not interested in hiring her. When Eve accidentally hits him with her car, she is forced to stick around to help him around the bed and breakfast. What starts off as a very contentious boss/employee relationship eventually becomes a passionately heated romance.
I really liked that this book had neurodiverse representation. Jacob is surly, straightforward, and likes things just so. The simplest things drive him mad, including Eve. But there is something about spunky Eve that also drives him mad in all the good ways as well. Eve kind of reminds me of her sister, Dani, in the sense that she is a free spirit and confident. I love the crazy t-shirts she wears - they had me laughing!
I wished there was a little more development of their relationship before they realized they were in love. I felt like one minute they hated each other and then the next minute they were in love. I loved the sex scenes in this book - they were the hottest of the series and they will definitely stand out in my memory as really steamy ones. I really like it when the guy dirty talks and Jacob definitely brought it in this one, and Eve had a filthier mouth than he did and I loved it!
Steam level: 🔥🔥🔥
My thanks to NetGalley for making an eARC copy of this book available to me.
If you enjoyed the previous two books in this series, you're pretty sure to enjoy this one as well. As in those two books, the sister in this one has her own specific life challenges. As the book opens, Eve has abandoned yet another in a long list of "career opportunities" and this one causes her parents to give her an ultimatum. Eve runs away and falls into a brand new job at a B&B. I really enjoyed the interactions between Eve and Jacob during the first half of the book, as they slowly got to know and appreciate each other. However, I felt that the book suffered a bit when the focus of the relationship moved into the sexual/physical arena, leaving behind most of the enjoyable banter from the earlier part of their relationship. It was all well written, but I would have liked (gasp!) less focus on the sex and more on the banter.
I'm looking forward to more books from this author in the same vein, even though we've run out of Brown sisters at this point.
Synopsis: Even Brown has always jumped from job to job. Always leaving when things start to get rough, but she has always told herself it was okay because it wasn't the right path for her. But now Eve is 26, and her parents are forcing her to grow up. She must hold a job for a year so she can prove she's a certified adult. In response, Even runs away from her emotions and straight into Castell Cottage, a quaint Bed and Breakfast, and thus straight into the life of always in control Jacob.
My Thoughts: This is the third Brown sister's book, and I'm not quite sure if I should give this book heart eyes or a crying face because it's over. I want ALL of Talia Hibbert's books (I stand by my tweet I sent her saying I'm trash for all of her books). I have read all three of these in an increasingly short amount of time. I read Eve Brown in two sittings. Like 20% one day, and the other 80% the next. I loved every word Hibbert put on the page.
There's so much I loved about this book, and nothing I didn't. So I promise I'll try not to gush TOO much, but I've never been good at reeling myself back.
First and foremost, I love Eve. She is so unapologetically herself, while also being unsure. In the previous books, we get Chloe and Dani, both of whom have no issues being unsure, but Eve hides her uncertainty behind her smiles and job-hopping. It's something I can personally relate to, so I greatly appreciated it. I even love that she would quit the jobs she was doing even if she was good at them, just because she didn't love it. I think that is an aspect people need to implement more. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you have to do it! Eve also has more guts than I could ever hope to have, and I love that. She wears what she wants to wear, she calls people out on things without fear, and she takes care of those around her. She is the perfect antithesis to Jacob. It was such a fun refreshing read, and I enjoyed her perspective on everything. Her stubbornness mixed with Jacob's had me in full fits of giggles, and me dying to read more. Eve is a fantastic protagonist. And she is even amped up with Jacob, while also amping him up as a character. It was beautiful.
I also feel like I must add that the *steamy* scenes were immaculate. It's what I was searching for in the previous romance books I read. I want some arguments, some steam, some funny parts interspersed, I loved them all (is that inappropriate to say?). Needless to say, I'd give the steam 10/10.
The previous characters popping up in various parts of the story is another part that I loved, and honestly, that makes me appreciate Hibbert's book so much. It's so fun to see the family show up, especially since it proves how much family means to the Brown family. Show me don't tell me they're close!! Thank you, Talia Hibbert! This book also has a scene that solidified my love for Red. He somehow has jumped up to be my favorite of the significant others, and I don't know how.
But overall, I love that this book takes all sorts of topics and makes them normal. Because they are normal things, but people either don't think about them. And communication is so nice and refreshing in books. Also, I now have high hopes of finding a significant other that will give me a grand gesture to show me their love. So thanks again, Talia Hibbert. I will read anything you write.
Would I recommend: YES! If the lack of things I didn't like didn't let you know, or the love I have for everything, or the (2? 3?) thank you's to Talia Hibbert herself didn't tell you, what will? READ IT. Along with her other books!
In the final installation of books about the Brown sisters, readers follow Eve, the youngest, as she goes on a journey to grow up and not be a spoiled brat. Eve has had many jobs over the years, including but not limited to fire-eating and abseiling instructor. When her most recent flight of fancy, wedding planning, goes slightly sour and she runs from the trouble again her parents finally decide they’ve had enough and tell Eve she has to grow up and support herself.
Eve runs off in a fit of brattiness 👀 and finds herself at Castell Cottage, a cute little B&B run by a hot, grumpy guy who just happens to be looking for a chef.
This book was beyond cute. We get Hibbert’s signature mix of snarky banter, heart-melting fluff, and spiiiiceeeee 🥵
I don’t often say this about characters, but I related to Eve in a lot of ways. She starts out the book considering herself a failure, a child who has no real agency or talents. She runs away when things get hard because she’s led her whole life believing she doesn’t have any ability. She’s sweet and she’s silly and when she meets Jacob, the owner of Castell Cottage, he pushes her to see herself as the capable and very talented adult that she is.
The book was so lovable, the characters were all sweet as pie, and I read it in two days because it was just readable! As all the Brown sisters books have been.
TWs are stated in the beginning of the book but I’ll also say here: this books talks shortly about maltreatment of characters with autism.
Thank you to @netgalley @avonbooks and @taliahibbert for my ARC!
Many thanks to the publisher for seeking out reviews from the autistic community. After devouring the first two books in The Brown Sisters series I was genuinely ecstatic upon getting the opportunity to receive an advance copy of Eve's story.
Talia Hibbert has done a masterful job of giving an honest portrayal of the autistic experience in this wonderful romance. Her trademark comedy and snappy dialogue is beautifully balanced with powerful, emotional moments that took my breath away.
This book has it all. It's funny and sexy and smart and I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing there were more Brown sisters stories on the way!
For me, reading a Talia Hibbert book is like snuggling up under a warm blanket. Her stories are sweet and filled with witty banter and romantic moments (and sex; can't forget the sex), but most importantly, they celebrate falling in love with someone because of who they are, not because of their potential or to change them.
In the final installment of the Brown Sisters trilogy, Talia incorporates all of the above--in fact, it may be my favorite (though I identified more with the Dani-Zaf relationship). The romance between the effusive, chaotic Eve and the particular-yet-secretly-sweet Jacob, both of whom are autistic, is SO well done; their chemistry is palpable, and they complement each other perfectly. If you like an enemies-to-lovers trope and a grumpy-sunshine couple, you'll love this.
I'm sad this series is over, but I hope this paves the way for a Montague sibling trilogy...
After adoring Take a Hint, Dani Brown last year, this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021.
It follows the third Brown sister, Eve, who just happens to be wandering aimlessly, giving up on her dreams/jobs shortly after taking them. When her parents give her the ultimate push to get her life in order, Eve just takes off and drives, finding herself at a Bed & Breakfast that happens to be in need of a new Chef.
The owner, Jacob, doesn't want to give Eve a chance at the job since he wants absolute perfection for his understaffed B&B. When he is left with no choice, Eve steps in and works to prove herself to her new, control freak boss.
While it didn't hit the mark as amazingly well as Dani did for me, it was still an enjoyable read. I loved all the representation, especially including those on the spectrum. You get to see how wide it is and how no two people have the same uniqueness and ways to manage it.
3.5/5
This was so cute!! I’ve always loved Chloe, Dani, and Eve’s relationship throughout the first two books and I loved seeing more of it in the third book as well! I also loved learning more about Eve! Her relationship with Jacob was also adorable! This was definitely the perfect ending to The Brown Sisters trilogy!

What a great book! Not my typical read but a good choice for the way I feel right now. I think I was smiling as I read this whole book. It brought me joy and isn't that what we need right now in our book life. Great story! Thanks to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the ARC.
I will recommend this book to others looking for a light read.
5 star
Once again, Talia Hibbert made me laugh, cry, and root for her characters as they fumbled their way through the ups and downs of life. I love how Hibbert presents people who are always fully themselves. Their journey isn't to change FOR a new love or to let a new love SAVE them, but to find a person who loves them just as they are and supports them fiercely. She deals with issues of mental health and disability with humor and grace, all while crafting a spicy, swoon romance. I loved it!
The best Brown Sisters book, hands down. Eve is my favorite sister, and Talia Hibbert pulled out all the stops for her story. This is a book that I immediately wanted to reread after finished. I was laughing hysterically from the very beginning, from the banter to the antics of Eve and Jacob - two humans so perfectly matched for each other (to their chagrin).
I'm always here for an enemies to lovers book, if you know me you know this. When Eve is tossed out of her parent's house, told she needed to find a job and grow up, she drives off in a huff and stops at the first interesting place she sees - Castell Cottage, a B&B in a small town. To her luck, there's a hiring sign for a chef, and Eve needs a job. What she doesn't expect to find is Jacob, who seems to hate her immediately for no reason, and then hates her even more after she runs him over with her car.
Jacob has autism, and prefers everything to be in it's place. Eve is a whirlwind who threatens his way of life. But, she burrows under his skin with every smile and playful flirting. I adored Jacob's character and appreciated his friendships and understanding of who he is and what he is passionate about. As a neurotypical person, I cannot speak to the accuracy of the autistic rep in this book - I always appreciate representation.
I cannot even find one thing I did not like about this book. I read parts out loud to my fiance and he found the story equally as funny. If you've loved the previous Brown Sister's book you'll definitely love this one, but you don't have to read the others first to enjoy it!
**Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review**
Talia Hibbert has done it again with Act Your Age, Eve Brown and I don't really have words to share other than to say that everybody needs to read this book. But I will give detailed feedback since that's my responsibility here.
What I loved:
1. Eve is by far my favorite brown sister. She's pure chaos and I loved her in her sisters' stories but following her journey was a true treat. She's smart, funny, and witty and I've never seen myself on pages more than I did while reading this book
2. I absolutely positively adored Jacob. I love a neurodiverse story and upon realizing that Jacob was on the autism spectrum, I was immediately invested in how the love story would unfold from his perspective since that's not a perspective I get to read often
4. The chemistry between Eve and Jacob was palpable immediately. When reading books like this, we pretty much know that the love interests will end up together but I was genuinely invested in how their relationship would unfold. Everything about their connection felt real and honest and I truly couldn't get enough of them together.
5. Talia Hibbert is a MASTER crafter of banter. Honestly, the only other romance author that could rival her in this category would be Sally Thorne but Talia is still the queen by far. Every conversation between Jacob and Eve felt like it was real and while reading I felt like I was looking in on a real relationship
6. The steam.... OH BOY. All I'm going to say is that wow... Talia.. you did it.
What I didn't like
1. Literally nothing, this book was perfect start to finish.
I can't wait to share this with my followers on pub day. Thanks for the opportunity to read it early, I'm already thinking about when I can reread it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the gifted copy of this book; all opinions are my own.
CW: Mentions of childhood neglect, open door romance
Oh my gosh, I am OBSESSED with this book and now am experiencing the dreaded book hangover! How will I move on from Eve and Jacob!
These two are the PERFECT sunshine / grump and I was dying over the backhanded compliments they kept giving each other. They are both so attracted to, but annoyed with, each other; I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing over BOTH of their inner monologues and the snarky back and forth banter.
Although they seem to be opposites, they understand one another on a deep level and develop a connection that made my heart so happy. They support each other unconditionally and are the absolute freaking cutest.
Oh, and we can’t forget about the chemistry … it is super steamy and H O T!
I adored these characters, this book & the Brown sister’s series. I cannot recommend it enough!
