I have been a huge fan of this series and was sad to see it end. I loved seeing Eve grow and find her passion in this story, while staying true to herself which is SO important. It was also nice to read about a male character who has autism as well. I enjoyed seeing the other couples as well. I must say the sex scenes between Jacob and Eve were SCORCHING hot and I loved the body positivity rep in this book as well.

As usual, Hibbert has a deep, nuanced understanding of everything that is best about romance. The Brown sisters have all been lovingly drawn, their love stories sweeping, and their relationship with each other a joy. Eve and Jacob are perfectly matched, bringing out the best in each other and making each other feel at home. This book will fill up your heart.

Fabulous book, maybe my favorite by Talia Hibbert so far! Sweet and spicy romance, as always, she does a wonderful job representing people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Love her sense of humor and it was great to see Eve's character grow!

I largely enjoyed this book for the representation of neurodiverse and diverse characters. I was a little hung up by how quickly Eve breezes past realizing she might be autistic. It felt like it was some sort of big buildup moment that just abruptly ended and was never mentioned again.

Eve and Jacob's love story is full of dirty jokes, laugh-out-lough belly-shaking humor. This couple is flaw and watching them grow in themselves and their is one hell of a ride.

This was a highly anticipated read for since I absolutely adored the other two Brown sister books

Eve is adorable--truly can't help but love her. I loved the themes of self-love and being unapologetically yourself. Even though Eve and Jacob are absolute polar opposites, you get so involved in their relationship. I mean they do say opposites attract?

If you've read any of Hibbert's books before you know she brings the STEAM factor 100% and holds nothing back, I mean nothing.

I'm so sad the Brown sister books are over.

Tally this one in the column for “Books Everyone LOVES - Except E-Reader Addict.” And I was really, really looking forward to this one, too.

With two older sisters who have good careers and solid relationships, Eve Brown feels like a failure. Even more so when her parents cut off access to her trust fund payments until she can hold down a job for a year.

Hurt and needing time to clear her head, Eve goes for a drive and, long story short, finds herself with a job as head chef at a bed and breakfast. Nevermind she sorta got it by default when she hit the owner with her car and broke his arm. But Eve finds she loves cooking for the guests and meeting their needs. Even more surprising…she finds herself falling in love with the mildly cranky, super-organized B&B owner who has a whole set of issues of his own to deal with.

It took me seven days to get through this book and I’m not exactly sure why. Talia Hibbert is an amazing writer - her wordplay is immensely amusing and her character building is fantastic. I loved both Eve and Jacob and thoroughly enjoyed the sidecast of supporting characters. The witty banter between the hero and heroine was superb, and I loved the sunshine vs grump dynamic in this story. Eve’s “wheels off” personality was a continual clash with Jacob’s notebook-guided life, providing ample laugh-out-loud moments. The storyline was comical and heartwarming - woman hits man with her car so she stays around to help him while he heals from the injuries she caused and in the process finds her way in life. This was an effortlessly humorous story.

But it just didn’t work for me. Part of it may be because there’s lots of internal musing about how hawt the other is. Lots of internal musings, in general, actually. And while the narrative is very entertaining, it didn’t do much to move the story along at a pace that kept me engaged. I couldn’t ever get through more than two chapters at a time before my attention was pulled elsewhere and I was never drawn back to the story like the reading addict I am. I don’t know why, but despite loving the characters and liking the storyline (other than the completely predictable conflict at the end), the execution fell completely flat for me.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series as audiobooks, and I really think Act Your Age, Eve Brown will be a fantastic audiobook as well - the style of writing used for this book lends itself well to audible storytelling. So, while this book may not have “read” well for me, I’m definitely looking forward to the audiobook!

I was overjoyed with getting to read this book! I LOVE the other books and looked forward to getting to know Eve Brown. Talia Hibbert is such a great author and I appreciated how real her characters seem, how they have flaws and quirks to them. Her characters are well rounded, diverse, and inclusive.

Characters:

Eve Brown:I love how much we got to grow with the character as the story progressed. We got to see her come into her own. She started the book not knowing what she wants, having started things and ending them before she could get hurt. But by the end she knows more about herself and what she wants.

Jacob Wayne: With Autism, there are a lot of ways Talia Hibbert could've gone and I appreciate her including character(s)* with disabilities in her books. (I work with students with Autism) I enjoyed hearing from his prospective and how his mind works. Its hard to put yourself out there when things, Literally, hit you. Change is hard, but in the end it can bring so much joy.

Brown Family: I enjoy the family aspect of this series. I love that you meet the family when introduced to Chloe and Red, get more with Dani and Zaf, and the story just keeps getting better with the inclusion of Eve and Jacob. The family is kooky, fun and unique and such a joy to read.

Eric 'Mont'/Tessa/Alex Montrose Family: I love this family too. They brought humor but also great friendship to Jacob and Eve when they needed someone for advice or just to have fun with. Sometimes characters with Autism are depicted as friendless, so it warmed my heart with these friendships :)

**Review:**

Having tried multiple things in life dad quieting before it got hard is something I'm sure everyone can relate to. You are enjoying things minding your own business when your insecurities come knocking. Eve felt so real to me and I enjoyed being there for her journey of finding herself. Finding out that she can do things, that she is great at something. Insecurities are hard and real, having both Jacob and Eve's insecurities made them real and I was left with a 'book hangover' when I finished their story, wanting more.

Eve and Jacob: I am a sucker for 'enemies to lovers'! I loved that Eve and Jacob started with these preconceived notions of one another, it made them getting to actually know each other better. They got to see each other in their 'worse' and then in their 'best'. I enjoyed their relationship <3 They bickered, teased, and left me laughing with a goofy smile on my face.

On a serious note, finding out she has Autism was a beautiful journey I'm proud she went through. Women/girls are less likely to be diagnosed with Autism because women are better as masking or mimicking the typical behaviors. Even though Eve isn't going to get an official diagnosis, it much feel amazing to have answers for why she does things. (stimming, routines, etc.) Jacob Wayne helped her in more ways than one. Finding love is a beautiful journey, but he also helped her in her discovery journey too. He thought she might be Autistic, but instead of straight out telling her he build up to it and in the end Eve is the one who discovered it herself.

Every book by Talia Hibbert I read makes me love her writing even more. Act Your Age, Eve Brown wasn’t any different.


After I read Dani’s book, I didn’t think anything could top it. But I was wrong! As soon as I started Eve’s book, I knew it was going to become my favorite book In the series! This book made me laugh out loud multiple times, I feel in love with both Jacob and Eve immediately and was invested in their romance from their very first interaction. They were perfect for one another but they were also characters that really held their own and I found myself loving their povs even when no romance was happening!


I can’t wait to see what Talia writes next. She is by far one of my all time favorite authors now and I’m excited to not only pick up her other books but read her upcoming stuff as well. I’m sad to say goodbye to the Brown Sisters but their stories were so satisfying so now I’m just looking forward to anything else the author writes in the future! Could not recommend this series and author enough!!! So good

When Eve is forced by her parents to land on her own two feet when it comes to getting a job and pursuing it, she doesn’t expect to end up at at a B&B. When she interviews and believes she doesn’t get the job, the last thing she expected to do was run over the owner. In comes Jacob. He’s the completely opposite of Eve.

I absolutely loved this story between both Eve and Jacob and seeing Eve blossom in this position. Something that was different, but made the book, was that autism was involved in the main characters.

Eve is the youngest of the Brown sisters. The fun carefree flighty one that changes careers like she changes her underwear. Her parents are tired of her flighty ways and basically grow up. They cut off her trust fund and want her to get out on her own. I mean her sisters have done so why can’t she? Because she’s a creature of chaos of course that’s what happens when she tries to start adulting.

Much like with her sisters Eve let’s one bad experience from the past cloud her judgement because apparently none of the sisters ever bothered to learn that it’s just what life is like. Things don’t always work you get your heart broken your job doesn’t work out or your dreams don’t play out like you want them to and people come and go from your life. That’s just how life is for real people. These girls with their privileged upbringing have no life skills. It’s like one thing... Chloe’s fiancé breaks her heart and her friends suck... life ruined forever... Dani has one very sucky relationship... nope love don’t exist just work instead... and Eve has one negative experience and can never ever do things she loves because... reasons. Failure, rejection and heartbreak and just part of life!

So unlike with her sisters who knew the guys they were going to fall for before the story began Eve happens upon pretty much everything. In her search for a job and a life and blah blah blah. Opposites attract and all that her and Jacob are complete opposites. He doesn’t like her on sight. Doesn’t want to give her a chance because she is rather chaotic. But of course the dates intervene and he has no choice but to accept the chaotic woman into his orderly life.

Blah blah work getting to know each other blah... overcoming issues blah... having read all this books in the series back to back I have found that all of them are over dramatic and become tedious at some points. That being said they are still somewhat relatable characters and they are likable. There’s a lot of fun and humor in the story. Also I really didn’t get why people have said there is too much sex I’m these books. Maybe I’ve read a lot of questionable books but i some reviews made it all seem much worse than it was. It’s just that their reaction to problems it’s just plain ridiculous.

I still like the author and I’ll still read her work though because I do like her writing.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story.The dialogue kept you laughing the entire time. Also who doesn’t love a grumpy hero who runs into a very positive thinking heroine. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

An excellent addition to the Brown sisters books! Eve has always been a bit unique, such as using words that don't seem to fit and being unable to stick with a job after failure looms near. Jacob is autistic and runs a bed and breakfast that is without a chef. After her last career failure, Eve's parents threaten to cut her off and so she runs away to prove she can actually make it on her own. Eve ends up at Jacob's B&B and decides to interview for the chef position on the spot. All seems like a disaster when Jacob doesn't seen keen on hiring Eve and when Eve accidentally hits him with her car, but Eve ends up taking charge of the inn while Jacob is recovering, and he discovers that Eve is not as flighty as she seems.

I really enjoyed this dual depiction of autism. Jacob at one point suggests to Eve that she may be autistic, so she does some research and discovers how much it seems to describe herself. As someone who knows a person diagnosed with autism as an adult, this is VERY fitting to the experiences of some of these people. I also really appreciated that Eve decided to own the label and embrace it, even calling herself autistic to her parents without formal diagnosis! Such a great way to represent people with disabilities owning their true selves.

I knew going into this book that I would absolutely love & adore it. However, I did NOT know that I would fall HEAD OVER HEELS for a fictional man with a WOLFISH GRIN AGGHHH

One of my fave reads from last year was Take a Hint, Dani Brown so needless to say, the bar was set HIGH for Eve. And WOWIE, did Eve deliver and THEN some!

I wasn’t expecting to find so much of myself in Eve which made this final book in the series that much more emotional & special for me. Her struggles with identity and purpose, her self-doubt, and how she learned to love every part of herself, no mater what others might say or think. Eve also loves a good romance book & graphic tee which HI, SAME!!

There isn’t much else that I can say that hasn’t already been said. So I’m gonna share some signature Random Ass Thoughts for ya life instead:

I’m obsessed with the music sprinkled throughout this story! Eve has serious TASTE & I’m so glad someone has already created a @spotify playlist for me to bump.

The setting was eve-ry-thing!!! Adorable B&B set in small town, English countryside?! 12/10 need to GO.

Ducks and geese are straight up the worst and can be seriously terrifying, I’m glad I am not alone in this!!!

Immaculate supporting cast. Y’all. The Montrose siblings caught me by surprise in the bestttt possible way!!

The banter & humor, unparalleled!!! The representation, amazinggg, seamless, and respectful!!

Jacob. THIS. MAN. I SWEARRRR!!! Harsh, chiseled features: ok, I’m on board. Dirty, nasty, sexy DaDDy too?! SYSTEMOVERLOAD!! My mind n body was not readyyyy! This man completely bewitched me with his wolfish grin & idk if I’ll ever be the same.

In conclusion, I would do UNSPEAKABLE things if Talia blessed us with a book about Gigi in her youth!!! Like, truly unspeakable.

It’s official, Talia Hibbert writes the best character-driven plots. If you, like me, loved the first two books in The Brown Sisters series, then you will simply adore ACT YOUR AGE, EVE BROWN. This book is almost entirely character-driven, mostly because sparkly, effervescent Eve, and grouchy-yet-achingly-endearing Jacob don’t need much else but their emotional revelations and hilarious banter.

Eve is looking for her passion in life, and Jacob is trying to launch his B&B. They collide from the very first (and not in a good way) in a series of laugh-out-loud situations (one might involve getting hit by a car) forcing them to work and live together.

This book is like a balm for your soul. Eve and Jacob will capture your heart as they capture each others. I adored the banter, the duck moments, and watching two imperfect people click together perfectly. I did want just a little more plot. Not much happens in the book besides cute moments and emotional connections.

Overall, I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I feel like with the new characters introduced, Hibbert set us up for another family-based series and I’m here for it! This is my second favorite book in the series because Chloe still has my heart, but Eve is a very close second.

Although this is part of a series about the three sisters in a family, it works fine as a standalone.

Eve Brown thinks of herself as being kind of a ditz, a view reinforced by her loving and eccentric family. She has started and abandoned several businesses and made a series of bad relationship choices. After her latest work debacle, her family gives her an ultimatum: she needs to find and hold a decent job for a year and get her act together.

She is not an especially appealing character at this point: self-centered, dramatic, narcissistic and air-headed. She climbs in her car and roars off. She stumbles into a B&B, and they just happen to be interviewing for a chef. After an amusing but disastrous interview with owner Jacob and his best friend, she manages to actually knock Jacob down with her car and break his arm.

She feels guilty and obligated to help out, despite her initial antipathy too Jacob, who is caustic and unsympathetic. As time passes, though, Eve also becomes invested in the success of the B&B and finds the motivation and determination that she has been lacking. And Jacob and Eve find they have more in common than they knew. Eve's character never quite came together for me but the reader does get to see her make some progress.

This is a fairly quick read, with lots of humor, some steamy sex, and a bit of serious discussion. Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

So, I wasn’t a big fan of Chloe Brown or Dani Brown but I wanted to give this one a chance. Let’s just say that this one is the favorite of the three but I still wasn’t a big fan.

The story is cute. Eve basically gets told by her parents that she needs to “act your age” and that she must hold down a job before they will give her her trust fund back. Well, this makes Eve mad and off she goes. She ends up at Jacob’s bed and breakfast. After a terrible interview, Eve leaves but Jacob tried to track her down. She then literally runs him over with her car. As he recovers, Eve is asked to help run the B&B as the chef.

One of the things I liked about this book was that Jacob is on the Autism spectrum. Throughout the book, we see different aspects of that. We don’t see a lot of this in romance novels and I love it.

So, Molly, why don’t you think this series is for you? My answer: the steam. It just made me want to fast forward. There is one certain word that I cannot handle (🐈) and it was said a few too many times for my liking. I normally love steam but just not this series.

I love Talia Hibbert and I LOVE the Brown sisters series. Eve is easily my favorite romance of the series. I inhaled this one then immediately ordered a copy of the audiobook so I could enjoy it all over again during my commute. Review link below.

My favorite Talia Hibbert book yet! I really thought Take a Hint, Dani Brown would be my favorite of the series, but Act Your Age, Eve Brown was even better. It made me smile so hard from the cuteness and SIGH with happiness! Eve, despite her privileged background, can't seem to get her professional life in order. She jumps from one job to the next endeavor, never quite finding her footing or sticking around long enough to try. It's only when she takes a car ride to clear her head that she finds a help wanted sign at a cute B&B and truly finds where she's meant to be and who she's meant to be with.

Eve and Jacob, the owner of the inn, make an amazing couple despite their rocky start. Jacob's standoffish nature fails to ruffle Eve. Eve's carefree soul creeps into the hole in Jacob's lonely heart. I keep seeing this book described as enemies to lovers, but I don't see it that way. Jacob might come off as aloof but as we find out later, it's not about enmity. By the end of the book, the two of them find their shared struggles make them stronger.

I just have so much good to say about this book. The 'friend date' scene was absolute perfection and unlike most other steamy scenes I've read. The book is steamy but the scenes are much more about their feelings than the acts themselves. I was concerned that the final conflict would feel too forced, but their separation and ultimate reunion is quick and not overly drawn out. The supporting characters are interesting and sufficiently quirky. As a Hibbert fan, I appreciated the cameos by Eve's sisters and their significant others and the rest of her family. I'm sad we don't have any more siblings to follow, but I hope she sets more books in this world! I received an ARC in return for an honest review.
