I think I went into this book with too high expectations and was unfortunately let down. I have recently read some really good anthologies and I am sad that this didn’t meet my expectations.

I enjoyed the concept, however some of the poetry for me was not to my taste. I also found that some were quite difficult to read which frustrated me.

I’m sure others would love this book but unfortunately it was not the one for me.

This book featured selected insta-poems originally submitted for National Poetry Library’s Instagram Poetry Exhibition. So I was truly excited to see the “chosen ones” but unfortunately I couldn’t really get into it.

I loved the concept of it and how it thrived to showcase the raw talent of new poets who are shaping the poetry world anew with their creativity and originality. I also loved how this book featured not just the poems but also little notes of the poet’s & curator’s thoughts on Instagram as a platform and how they compose their art.

The book’s design structure was is amazing which features visual art since Instagram IS all about visual and aesthetics. Some of those pieces were hard to read, though. Also, having the poems sorted in different categories like Aspirations, Creativity, Identity, Humour, Love, Mental Health, etc. along with little introductory notes is clever.

I enjoyed it though I firmly believe the collection could’ve been more amazing if more research behind the selection was done. Poems were good but people who spend enough time scrolling on Instagram know that they’ve read better than what's included here.

This is such an original book. So different, and such a great idea.

I just expected this book to be the usual poetry every day book - i was so wrong!!!
The book literally has just taken some of instagrams posts and put them straight into this book.
It is not just poetry, but positive mantras, and sayings. As it is taken directly from instagram it is such a visually pleasing book, as well as it being positive and up-lifiting with the words in each post.

The only downside is that it got a little repetitive in format by the end.
However, I think this book is best to dip in and out of, and not to read from start to finish!

So many things to think about! really enjoyed this!

This was an engaging, unique book presenting the work of Instagram poet’s. It was separated into sections; aspirations, creativity, identity, humour, love, mental health, nature, society, spirituality and word play.

There were many kinds of poems, and the book also featured the original posts so we could see exactly how they were presented.

The book featured some of my favourite poets including Nikita Gill, Amanda Lovelace and Ben Maxfield, but it also gave me some new poets to check out.

Overall, the book is offered in bite-sized chunks showcasing the versatility of Instagram poetry, and how it’s a fantastic platform for poets to share their work.

I received a EARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I was pleasantly surprised by this anthology. Usually Instagram poetry gets a bad rep due to the typical mainstream poets, but it was impressive how the National Poetry Library archived these pieces from their exhibition in 2018 and it actually showed a range of visual poetry/ styles . In turn, it provided accessibility to the different forms and I liked the way the collection was organized by themes. With that being said it is a quick read & some sections are stronger than others but recommend this for modern poetry beginners.

The influence of Instagram on the evolution of poetry is unquestionable.

In this special collection of poetry, we dive into several themes, like nature, spirituality, love, society, mental health, and many more. The poems are chosen from some of the most famous Instagram poets.

Being that it is a fresh concept, I was really excited to read it. I genuinely wanted to like it. However, it just didn't click with me.

I have read a lot of poetry on Instagram, and I can say without a doubt that I've read far better poems than the majority of poems featured in this collection. Honestly, a little more research would have lead to many great poems.

Disappointed.

'Instagram Poetry for Every Day' is an anthology of over 100 poems, which have been collated from a mix of famous, as well as upcoming talents, from Instagram.

The poems are very relevant and relatable to the world as it is today. They are short poems, which are easy to read and digest.

The book is split into themes. For each theme there is an introduction and we get to view the poems as photos in the way they would have been posted to Instagram. The book also includes thoughts from the poets themselves.

This book really led me to see poetry from a fresh set of eyes. Normally when I think of poetry I think of poets from Shakespeare’s time, not what I see when scrolling through my Insta feed!

This little book was a beautiful combination of some of the most wonderful instagram poetry out there. I especially loved how it was divided in to chapters based on theme and that it was a full color rendering of the instagram post, including background, and not just the words. This is a great book that would be perfect as a gift for a new or seasoned poetry lover, or as a gift to yourself.

A beautiful effort by the team. Collating all the beautiful poetry by some of the famous and some upcoming poets of Instagram. Bite sized and so fun to read.

Instagram Poetry for Every Day by National Poetry Library is an exciting anthology of over 100 poems that are a sampling of how social media has made poetry accessible to a worldwide audience. Each poem is short, relatable, and easily digestible, and utilizes mixed media for a broad appeal.

Not being an Instagram user myself, I was intrigued by the concept of a platform that provides for fresh new voices, and the idea that universal themes and messages can now be shared so widely in order to be experienced by a new generation who might otherwise lack exposure to new voices. I am very appreciative to have had the opportunity to explore this exciting new form of artistic expression.

It is a beautiful collection of poetries taken from different poets from Instagram. Every poet has a different style, pattern and design. I loved the theme, this seems so interesting. This book is unique and I loved it.

What a cool grouping of different types of poems! I always see these as I scroll around on Instagram but I really liked how they were sorted into one book. Lots of cool poems which led to lots of new accounts for me to follow.

Instagram poetry is a fascinating phenomenon that takes up a good part of my feed. This book covers some of the biggest and most popular themes covered in instagram poetry. The examples included in the book were interesting and came from a good number of insta-poets. I found this collection and explanations about why this trend is taking off to be informative and fun to go through.

I liked the way this book was divided into sections. I'll admit, I like poetry, but I've never been big into Instagram poetry. This book helped me see how Instagram can allow for a different sort of expression than print--for example, the visual artistry of it, as well as using Instagram as a way to share more immediately instead of obsessing over getting a piece ready for publication. Instagram poetry can push the boundaries of what we traditionally think poetry can be, which is pretty cool. I occasionally read Instagram poets whose work I don't consider all that deep or original, but a lot of the poems and art in this book was compelling, not necessarily because of the text of the poem, but because of how it was presented.

A good concept that I was really excited to read and look at. I was pretty disappointed when I got to read it. Most of the pictures were hard to read and just were not inspirational as I thought they would be. I liked that they did have different sections to look at but this book just wasn’t for me. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This short collection of poetry taken from Instagram shows how the arts continue to evolve and change, finding ever new outlets for the creativity that fosters them. The book offers poems in the categories of Aspirations, Creativity, Identity, Humour, Love, Mental Health, Nature, Society, Spirituality, and Word Play.

I enjoyed the visuality of these poems and the notes provided about each poet. The inherent brevity of Instagram forces the poems to be honed for the most impact, and I appreciate that the egalitarianism of the medium gives each of the poets a chance to be seen, heard, read, and followed.

My thanks to NetGalley and the National Poetry Library for permitting me to read a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions expressed here are indeed my own.

I appreciated the way social media and verse combine in this very interesting and thoughtful collection. The ways that digital technology afford sharing ideas is continuing to shape literature in ways that we will explore for years to come -- this book celebrates that notion in noteworthy and remarkable ways.

I feel as though some of these pieces lost their glamour by being removed from Instagram. I like that the book only emphasized the pieces and didn't try to explain in themselves.

This was a beautiful and inspiring book of modern poetry that you could find on Instagram. The mixed media art creates a book that is both whimsical, sad, and enduring.
