This is the second book in the series, but can certainly be read as a stand alone story.
Mina is in her 30's and after deciding to go it alone and have a baby, runs into local rodeo rider Liam Wells, a man that broke her heart when she was 16.
When they are standed together in his cabin when the snowy weather forces Mina off the road, the pair finally reconnect and a decision is made when she misses her appointment and Liam offers to help her with her dream, but the old fashioned way.
This one night however brings new dreams up for both of them and Liam finds himself round Mina's a lot 'just to make sure' that he has given her what's she wants.
Its a sweet story and Liam has a good supportive brother behind him, while poor Mina has a grandmother that raised her with dementia and a friendly nurse to talk to.
this is a sweet read that wraps you up in the pages and the story and you cannot help but hope that the ending for the pair is happy and that both characters see what is right in front of their faces.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A nice small town romance story although the MC is overly concerned with sperm.
A good read
Leslie North consistently brings great characters and passionate romance to life. As a big fan of North's, her name provokes an automatic one-click from me. I am always entertained. Highly recommend.
Struggled a bit with this one. Don’t see the need for a single person to be so obsessed with having a baby that they buy sperm. Didn’t see much spark in the friends to finally lovers ether. Skimmed most of the story after awhile. Not a bad story, just not my type.
The Cowboy's Baby Agreement by Leslie North is the second book in the series. I loved the first book, but the second was even better.
Liam is back in town after an injury at the rodeo. He is a well known Rodeo Star but had to come home to recover. Mina runs into Liam, who she remembers from school. He once broke her heart. She really didn't want to see him and tried to avoid him.
Mina's main focus right now is to have a baby through IUI. She already gave up on finding someone and she wants a baby before she gets too old. But when a snowstorm hits unexpectedly she finds herself where she didn;y want to be..or didn't think she wanted to be....
Fantastic story!! It will bring out such a mix of emotions in you. You can easily read this book as a stand-alone if you didn't read book one in the series. But I recommend both books.

A long, roundabout way of getting two people from friends to more. Mina wants a baby. But it’s how she goes about it that is the premise of this story. Meantime, she discovers an old friend, Liam, has moved back to town on a temporary basis, until his rodeo injury heals. When they meet up, it’s like they had never been apart. But it’s the part where they rekindle their friendship that they become more to each other. They just don’t tell the other how they’re really feeling trying to protect their hearts. It’s only once they are willing to take a chance, that the fruit of their love becomes evident.
I received a free book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The entire plot of this book was a little out there, and a little bit unbelievable to say the least.
Once I rad the part about the sperm donor and Mina realizing who it was, it reminded me of the Friend's episode with Monica. If only her sperm donor was Joey!!
I found myself rolling my eyes a lot and thinking there is no way that this could EVER happen.
Second in the Wells brother series and a slow second, at that. There is little here to interest a reader, small angst, little story,, a a slow amount of steam and just no drive to finish this one. Ok read, but you will need a cup of coffee or three to finish.
In this story, Mina has decided to get pregnant through invitro, after calling the doctor's office and setting up the appointment she feels good about the decision. Reading the information about the sperm donor she realizes she has a good idea who the person is and she is not that happy.
Liam is back from the rodeo circuit because of an injury and after running into Mina at the diner he still can’t figure out what he did to her to make so angry. Once home he realizes the snow is coming down heavier and he notices a car stuck. When getting to it he finds Mina inside. Taking her to his home she is not happy at first. After a while though they begin to work through all of their issues and miss understandings. He also agrees with the idea of being a father which surprises her.
When you get into the story you see they each must work past their own fears if they want to have a future of any kind. See what happens in this good book. I still liked the first one better but this one was good.
The cowboys baby agreement. To be a hands off sperm donor, blows up in both their faces as the heart and caring emotions of love become involved.
A pregnancy that brings out true feelings of love, happiness and commitment. A baby, a marriage, with a happy ever after ending in this romantic story.
As someone who recently went the sperm donor route to motherhood I was able to connect to Mina right from the beginning. I appreciated that even though she did not have to go through with her original plan the idea of IUI was not portrayed as someone desperate women do.
I found the incident from high school to not really be that big of an event that should have led to Mina having difficulty with her romantic relationships. What she overheard Liam saying could have been interpreted in a variety of ways and she should have confronted him about it a long time ago. I also did not like the way Liam brought up the idea of them conceiving a baby "the old fashioned way". Had he offered that as a plan it would have been fine, but telling her she couldn't use the sperm he had donated and had to have sex with him in order to get it was kind of skeevy. Because this was a novella there was also not enough time to really establish why/how these two fell in love.
I would give this somewhere around 2.5 stars.
Such a lovely story!
This is a short book, with little drama and pretty much soul.
It's the story of Mina, a woman who decides she wants to have a baby and goes for it, but before having everything settled she meets the sperm donor, an old crush and things take a different route. It's a nice story, where nothing is forced, with a "real" feeling, a beautiful short love story. All the characters are pretty likable and all in all, this is a great short read! Beautifully written!
Found this book quite predictable and a bit cheesy, sure people that enjoy a short story would enjoy this story with its happy ending sort of plot. Took me roughly 2 hours to read
I always thoughtfully write hook reviews. Reading is so subjective. What works for one reader might resonate with another. So, it's very unusual for me to say the following: This book is really terrible.
The plot is so ridiculously implausible that it's hard to read. There are about a gazillion (that's a really technical mathematical term) plot holes and unanswered questions. This heroine is still hurt and traumatized over something that happened to her 10 years ago in high school with the hero. When we finally find out what this big trauma was it's completely stupid.
There is zero chemistry between the main characters and we get no sense as to why they are even attracted to each other. Their shared history seems to have all occurred on one day in high school. Then, the relationship we read about is built over the course of a few days in a cabin in which they talk about pretty much nothing of consequence.
It's all so far-fetched and the story is so patchy that I did not care one bit about these characters. This book just makes no sense.
I received an ARC of this title from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! My first time reading a book by Leslie North and it won't be the last. The characters of Liam & Mina made you want to root for them to get their happily ever after! A quick read perfect for an autumn day on the couch..
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.
This was not my favorite book. Slow start but enjoyable. Then kind of a wham bam thank you mam. A little fast forwards take place then it just seems to skip to the ending without all of the normal dating, getting to know you stuff. Hopefully book3 is better.
Not the book I was expecting to read as the write up was for the first in series not this one, I did enjoy it however, Liam and Mina’s story. Mina needs to become a single mum using IVF due to medical constraints, finds out her crush Liam is the chosen donor, they both become snowbound together giving them a chance to talk and nature takes its course. Nice story, I would recommend this book.
The Cowboy's Baby Agreement by Leslie North is the second book in her Wells Brothers series. Readers first met Liam Wells in the first book in this series, The Rancher's City Girl. My impression of him in that book was that his life was the rodeo. Period. Now he has met up again with Mina Heath while he is home in Benton Ridge recuperating from a rodeo injury. I liked how this author set up her storyline with Mina wanting to have a baby though an IUI procedure, a type of artificial insemination. Mina has figured out from the profile that the donor she has chosen is Liam Wells. The Liam she had a crush on in high school. And Liam wants to have a baby with her the old fashioned way. This was an entertaining read. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, The Cowboy's Second Chance Family. This is the third Wells brother, Tucker's story.
The Cowboy's Baby Agreement is the second book in Leslie North's Wells Brothers series, and since I just read and reviewed the previous title in the series, it was fairly easy to get into this ARC, however, due to its brevity, some time-frame confusion (which I hope was corrected in the final product), and a rather childish personal issue concerning the heroine, I can only give it a 3-star rating.
The first character we meet is Mina, and she's in Bette's Diner, only half paying attention to her dinner because she's obsessing over possible sperm donor profiles. At age 30, she's decided she wants to have a baby, and with no eligible men on the horizon, and her only relative, her grandmother, who is in a nursing home suffering from dementia, she's decided to go it alone. When she finally decides on which sperm donor to use, and makes an appointment with the doctor who will perform the insemination procedure, in walks Liam Wells, rodeo star and the cause of Mina's ire since she was 16 years old. We met Liam briefly in the previous novel, and, like his brother, Cade, he's tall, handsome, and Mina would rather hide than confront him, but after a brief greeting, she's in her car and on her way home, realizing that Liam matches the description of the sperm donor she's chosen, and while preoccupied with that thought, she skids on the snowy road and gets her car hung-up over an embankment. At least she's close to a small, inhabited cabin, and nearly freezes to death walking there, only to find out that it's sole occupant is Liam.
Liam couldn't possibly be kinder to half-frozen Mina, getting her into some of his dry clothing, telling her to take a warm shower, and sitting her down to warm up by the fireplace. What Liam doesn't know about Mina is a lot. He had no idea that she had been carrying a grudge against him since high school, or that she'd had a serious crush on him at the time. Because the snowstorm is really a blizzard, Mina is upset when neither her nor Liam's cell phones are working, and since she can't inform her doctor that she will need to postpone her insemination appointment, she will lose her hefty deposit. Liam is quite attracted to Mina, as he was in high school, but when Mina asks him flat-out if he was ever a sperm donor, many truths come to light, and it's not long after that that Liam, knowing how upset Mina is to miss her appointment, suggests impregnating her the old-fashioned way.
I had some serious issues with Mina. Her 14-year grudge against Liam seemed rather ridiculous to me, because had she just wandered into the room where he had uttered the sentence that devastated her emotionally, and asked him about it, there would have been no reason for her to be upset, and certainly not for the past 14 years. Further, when Mina eventually agrees to allow Liam to impregnate her, she acts as if it's a one and done, and once they've cleared the roads so that Mina can leave Liam's cabin, she starts avoiding him like the plague. She's a grown woman and starting a clothing design business (pockets are her thing--silly, I know), she acts more like a 16-year-old than a mature adult.
As a romance reader, I could see what was coming from a mile away, with the possible exception of some hilarity when Liam spots a cute little puppy freezing in the snow and rescues it. Yes, there's an HEA ending, but while Liam eventually shows some maturity, albeit it slow to arrive, Mina's emotions are all over the place, and because of her inability to deal with them and be honest with both Liam and herself, it was impossible for me to entirely overlook her emotional immaturity, which really hampered my enjoyment of this novel.
While The Cowboy's Baby Agreement isn't a bad read, in this reader's opinion, it simply didn't measure up to the previous novel in this series, and with the next brother's story yet to come, I do hope it's a far better and more well thought out one than this.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of the novel. The opinions stated are my own.
This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the second book in the Wells Brothers series. I have also read and review Wells Brothers Book 1. This is a super short cowboy romance book. I did not love this book as much as the first book, but it was a really good book. I love that the author can bring the characters to life so well in a super small book. I cannot wait until the three book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Relay Publishing) or author (Leslie North) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
