Absolutely loved this story. Nia was the lover of all things Christmas. Including Nutcracker Lane which held wonderful childhood memories for her. She believed in the magic of the Nutcracker and wished for a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet.
Did she get her happy ever after, you’ll have to read it to find out, it would be cruel to spoil it for you. A worthy 5star review.
Okay, so I’m pretty sure this no longer counts as an ARC anymore. Netgalley graciously approved me this book in exchange for an honest review in 2020 and I downright disappointed. I tried reading this last year before the book came out in October but it was hard reading a Christmas book when it wasn’t Christmas time. Then I fell into a huge reading slump. I mostly only picked this book back up because I just finished Snowflakes at the Little Christmas Tree Farm by Jaimie Admans and absolutely LOVED it.
I didn’t like this books as much as Snowflakes at the Little Christmas Tree Farm but it was still a pretty good story. I wish there was more of a slow burn romance in the story. It felt a little insta-love like to me. I know this is a pretty common feeling, heck I’ve even had these feelings, but I don’t appreciate them in a story. Maybe I’m too critical. It’s not like they express their love after 2 chapters but the MC Nia still goes on and on and on about how attractive our respective love interest is.
I also didn’t like how Nia expresses how much she is done with men for the time being and then invites James, the love interest, over after a day of knowing him. It didn’t seem believable to me at all. I feel like when this happens it’s usually Netflix and chill instead of platonic movie watching XD But also, didn’t like how Nia went on and on and on about how James made her feel all fuzzy and how she was always distracted. She was also constantly talking about how she wanted to kiss him but wouldn’t. I don’t mind. I actually think it’s cute sometimes; however, I felt like 70% of the words written where about Nia and her feelings toward James. It got annoying after awhile. The relationship started to feel fake.
There is a reference to the Snowflakes at the Little Christmas Tree Farm and my heart was so happy. :3 Overall, I highly enjoyed this book! The ending was so lovely. It made me emotional because it reminded me of family. It was perfect.
If you need ANY help getting into the Christmas spirit, this book will definitely help you out. I fell in love with this book from the first chapter. Totally gives you all the warm and fuzzy Christmas feelings and has so much humor. Magical Nutcrackers and Walnut Wishes make this my favorite Christmas read this year. I don't own any Nutcrackers, but now I'm kind of obsessed. It's such a magical story. I loved it!
After being cheated on once again, Nia makes a wish on the town's magical Nutcracker for her own Prince Charming. The next day she goes into a shop and knocks over a life sized Nutcracker and breaks his left arm, she flees but then her conscience gets the better of her and she goes back to find a guy lying on the ground with the same arm broken and he looks like a Disney Prince...Did her wish come true? Is he a Nutcracker come to life? You have to read to find out!
It was the cover that first appealed to me most about this book as it is such an alluring and beautiful cover, plus it was festive looking too and given that it is November, I was more than ready to start reading Christmas festive books.
This was a truly wonderful heartfelt read from start to finish. It was full of Christmas festive moments, plus heartwarming and entertaining, not to mention a few giggly moments throughout the story too. It was so much more than a romance story, had lots going on and I was pretty much glued to the pages throughout and couldn't turn the pages quick enough.
I loved getting to know the two main characters Nia and James and learning about their own individual stories and seeing how/if their relationship would become serious or not. I also loved how the whole story was featured around the magical tale of The Nutcracker and the history element of it too. It certainly had me wanting to visit Nutcracker lane, to experience the atmosphere of the place, not to mention being able to make a wish to the magical nutcracker.
So if your after a Christmas festive read, be sure to add this one to your collection and don’t leave it too long to lose yourself in this magical Christmas tale.
A lovely cosy Christmas romance. I love the Christmas feelings that come with this book. So festive and warm. I loved it. Great characters too.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is such a cosy little book featuring one of my favorite Christmas icons. This will definitely get you in the holiday spirit! Thank you for the ARC
I started reading The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane last year, and to be honest I put it aside because it was one of several cosy Christmas reads I picked up in a row that started with the protagonist finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her, and that just wasn’t the festival vibe I was trying to manifest for Christmas 2020 – or anytime really.
The good news is Nia dumps the guy and basically moves on – she isn’t trying to win him back, or show him what he’s missing, or turning herself inside out trying to figure out what’s “wrong with her”. So once we got over that little hiccup at the start this was a pretty enjoyable read.
It’s definitely festive and fun, and I loved the idea of the setting being in a Christmas market. There were some kind of zany bits with Nia maybe thinking James was a wooden Nutcracker come to life (and maybe he was – I couldn’t possibly tell you in a review), but I kind of liked how this showed her belief in Christmas magic.
The relationship that built between Nia and James was sweet, although maybe a bit rushed/intense at times, and while I’ve read/seen enough cosy Christmas romance books/movies to have been pretty sure where the story was headed I still enjoyed seeing it unfold. I actually think this would make a pretty cute movie.
Overall, this wasn’t my favourite cosy Christmas romance ever, but is still a sweet festive comfort read as long as you can get over the gross cheating ex and a bit of potentially magical stuff.
If anyone'd wanted a bottled Christmas with all its sights and scents and feels and looks and everything else, then they just have to read this book! It was Christmas to the 1000% and made no apologies for it, which I kinda liked because it was so much that it sailed right past the point of potentially being annoying, LOL. The romance was a bit so-so for me - read it more for the immersive Christmas feel, and wasn't disappointed in that regard
This was a sweet little Christmas read with all of the holiday feels. Nutcracker Lane was an absolutely magical little place that I wish was real! James and Nia made the cutest little couple an I love how we are left still wondering if James is a magical nutcracker. Brilliantly crafted, with all of the whimsy that I love in a good Christmas romance. I highly recommend this one!
What a wonderful festive romance, adorable and how Christmas should be. Haven't read anything by this author and I will definitely be searching for more.
This is a beautiful book and the first thing it did to me was make me wish I had a Christmas shop! This book makes you realise that actually, a festive shaped cookie really can make it all feel better.
The story centres around our main characters Nia and James, Nia is working in her shop on Nutcracker Lane, a Christmas Village which is perhaps not as great as it once was – much like all the places we go now and utter those all too familiar words “The lights aren’t as good as they used to be”, but Nia loves Nutcracker Lane and sees all of it’s qualities for the Nostalgia it provides her. James, on the other hand, is a Christmas Hater and is there to try to learn about the spirit of Christmas. So it falls upon Nia to un-Grinch him and she sets about the task with gusto.
Get ready to get emotional people, this is an utterly lovely story!!
This follows Nia who adores all things christmas and ever since she was a child her dream was to own her one shop on Nutcracker Lane however the new owner of the Lane keeps cutting the budget and the Pane is becoming more destitute every year so Nai with the help of the one of the new shop owners James (who may or may not be a nutcraker come to life) set out to bring the Lane back to li
This is such a cute romance and is filled to the brim with cost Christmas vibes and you will leaving you feeling the magic of Christmas even when reading it in the middle of spring, like me.
I would recommend this for anyone looking for an adorable and festive romance. I gave this 3 stars.
Trigger warning for family member illness.
I am so pleased I chose this book to start of my Christmas in July. Another beautiful and heartwarming read from this author. This was such a lovely cosy story that encapsulated romance, friendship and family and how it’s never to late to believe in magic. Nutcracker lane conquered up everything that Christmas is about and the sights and sounds and smells all jumped off the page. I found myself transported to being in front of the wishing nutcracker surrounded by Carol singers and Christmas magic. This was a perfect escapism and relaxing read and would make a fabulous hallmark Christmas movie. I would also love a sequel to see what happens between Nia and James.
A sweet Christmas romance that can be read at any time of the year. Especially when you need a happy ending and a pick me up.
Nia is a crafter and she believes in the power of magic wishes hope and Christmas. James is a suit and doesn't. Nia and James work together to make her shop on Nutcracker Lane better and she works to give him some Christmas spirit. This novel is charming and sweet but formulaic and you can see it all coming from a mile away but the journey is cosy Christmas filled and worth the effort.
I did find the Nutcracker coming to life references too much at the beginning, it's really hammered home and then the random references throughout were quite jarring and not really in keeping with the progression of the characters. It makes Nia seem quite silly towards the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy to review.
Even though we made it into summer, I was in the mood for a festive read. And boy did this one deliver! I've never read anything from this author before but I'm definitely need to read more now! It's all so teeth shattering sweet, but in the most positive way! I've once seen a Lifetime Christmas movie with Melissa Joan Hart that this book really reminded me of, and I love both! I felt fully immersed and so festive throughout the entire story. Highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an eARC, in exchange for an honest review.
Christmas books can’t go wrong. This one was so sweet and I loved the characters. It was a little predictable but I loved it all the same
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
