Funny, romantic and nostalgic twist on A Christmas Carol with a touch of Nutcracker thrown in for good measure and I loved it. It was cleverly written and perfect for the time of year
I hadn’t heard anything about this book or the author so I was quite apprehensive but I was completely wrong. I loved it. I felt like I was there & wanted to join in on all the magic, it was so beautifully written. I don’t often read books like this as often but it took me back to the soppy, romantic books I loved as a teen.
James, I mean he literally stole my heart. I truly believed in him all along! His connection with Nia was amazing. Nia and Stacey (another fellow stacey, seen a few in books recently) have the best friendship and it’s so lovely. The whole story behind Nutcracker Lane is soo beautiful it definitely would be a magic place.
The book definitely gave me all the fuzzy feels, there was a part where I was shouting ‘NoOo’ but it definitely didn’t last and I thought I was beautiful. The ending was perfect & literally ended it so well. I also need to get a Nutcracker for Xmas.
What an absolute magical journey I have been on with Nia and James.
What a beautiful story. I'm a sucker for Jaimie Admans books after reading The little book shop of love stories which was my favourite read of the year.
This book certainly didn't let me down. I love it when a romance/chick lit/lighthearted read has more to the sp
Tory than boy meets girl and fall in love. Jaimie does this brilliantly. I love how she has a depth to her books also keeping the humour in there too.
All in all would highly recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers and the author Jaimie Admans for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review
A delightful and well written Christmas romance. Very good story. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.
Jaimie Admans’ holiday romance, The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane, is the epitome of joy, laughter, and Christmas magic.
Nia Maddison has always dreamed of running a shop on Nutcracker Lane. Now, her dream has finally come true, but it’s not turning out to be the experience she longed for. But things start to change when she makes a wish on the Lane’s famous magical nutcracker...
I adored Nia and her blend of perseverance, passion and desire to help. Her plan to rid James of his Grinch-like tendencies was incredibly entertaining to read about and certainly had the Christmas effect on me! I would love to visit Nutcracker Lane, especially Carmen's chocolate shop and it would be wonderful to have a Nia as a friend.
Jaimie Admans’ writing was dreamy and sublime, making this novel a rewarding reading experience and I was really impressed by her. The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane, is my second book by this immensely talented author and I will be catching up with more of her back catalogue as well as keeping an eye out for her next novel. A captivating and delightful Yuletide read that I highly recommend.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HQ Digital via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I have adored every book Jaimie has written and wasn’t disappointed with this one either.
So it seems, Nia has just about given up on men. She feels that they don't seem to know how to behave themselves.
As. Christmas is her favourite time of the year, as well as having a special place in her heart for nutcrackers.
So. will the nutcracker she has knocked down and broken, in the shop of James, who looks like a nutcracker come to life now ruin things for her? Or is her imagination playing tricks on her?
What a heart-warming, romantic story.
I so wanted to go and visit this Nutcracker Lane of Nia's though!.
Recommend it.
Wow, this was such a great read. What an awesome storyline. This book grabs you at page one and doesn't let you go. I really like her writing style. This is an author I will definitely continue to follow. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and Netgalley for trusting me with an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Mia Maddison has always believed that wishes come true on Nutcracker Lane. So, when she gets the opportunity to run her own Christmas gift on the most magical street in town, it feels like her wishes have been finally a granted. However, she will come to find out that it takes more than that for a wish to be granted.
I absolutely loved this book. It had everything that a Christmas book should. There were amazing characters inside these pages, and it was so beautifully written I felt like I know them. I am not going to say much more as it would surely ruin such a magical book.
I love Christmas and am sad that due to the pandemic it will change the way it’s meant to be, however, this little gem of a book will take you into their Christmas and that will make it more magical.
5*****
This is the perfect holiday read meant to be enjoyed, cozy and nestled into your favorite reading spot. I adore holiday stories that are sprinkled with adorable romance and this is certainly that kind of book! I devoured this in one sitting as it was just what I needed to kick off the festive holiday season! This is sure to warm your heart and get your head filled with the wonder and lure of Christmas magic!
Whilst I loved this , I felt that it was identical to The Little Bookshop and therefore was very predictable, and I guessed the ending after a chapter or two. A lovely Xmas ready, but read on its own and not after reading The Little Bookshop.
This book does exactly what it says on the cover. It provides festive Christmas warmth and cheer in abundance!
Nia hasn’t had it easy, but is following her dreams (that mostly involve the festive season). She has the kind of childlike excitement and faith in humanity that we lose as adults, but that always manages to kind it’s way back, even in the smallest of quantities at Christmas, and this books helps you along.
The author has the knack, through their writing of transporting you straight under the twinkling lights of Nutcracker Lane. You become completely invested in the characters, but also in the Lane itself. Admans paints one of those places that we all remember as a child, and only wish we could see again.
“Anyone, at any age, should look up to the sky on Christmas Eve night and hope they’ll see something magical.”
Yes, there is romance in this book (it is Christmas after all), but I feel like that’s not the ‘point’ of the book. The point, for me, is seeing Christmas as a child again and saving what makes it important.
I thought it was going to be a predictable read, and honestly, for the first 4 chapters I thought the entire plot had been taken from the 2018 film, ‘A Very Nutty Christmas‘. I’m glad to say I was wrong though.
This book deserves a sequel and I sincerely hope Admans takes us back to Nutcracker Lane next year.
After the trainwreck that has been 2020, I think we all need some joy, laughter, and magic in our lives. Jaimie Admans’ new holiday romance, The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane, embodies all those things and more. If you didn’t believe in Christmas magic before, you will after reading this book.
Christmas-loving Nia has dreamed of having her own shop on Nutcracker Lane forever. Her dream has finally come true, but with management cutting back on spending and pitting all the shops against each other in a ridiculous, short-sighted competition, it’s far from the experience she always longed for. Things start to turn around when she makes a wish on the Lane’s famous magical nutcracker and it seems to come true in the form of sweet, thoughtful, handsome James.
I loved Nia’s passion for her art, her perseverance, and her desire and willingness to help others. Her mission to un-Grinch James was so entertaining and put me in the Christmas spirit, despite it only being October. I loved Nia and James’s interactions - these two together were just so swoony. I swear, each of Jaimie’s heroes is more amazing than the last. I don’t know how she does it!
The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane is full of heart, whimsy, and romance. I want to visit (or work on) Nutcracker Lane, and I’d love to be friends with Nia. And can I have my own James, please? If you’re looking for an escape from real life (who isn’t these days?), look no further. This wonderful, feel-good book should be on all Christmas romance lovers’ TBRs this holiday season.
Easily one of the most wonderfully Christmassy books I've read this year, and almost certainly Jaimie Admans best book so far (and her others have all been really wonderful too).
... in fact don't read this review, just go buy the book, sit back and enjoy being wrapped up in all things Christmas...
... seriously this book is just so good, trust me on this and read it for yourself. I really don't want to write anything else as well it would spoilt the festive magic...
... and this is a story that has festive magic in spades. It has the most fabulous male lead going, and such was Nia's belief, that at times I thought he was the impossible, Nia's first Christmas wish come true, others I had guessed at the truth, but above all he is a man who is nicknamed as Grinch and wants Nia to try to help in to understand the season and to find his Christmas spirit.
And Nia really is the perfect person for this task, given all her life she has wanted a shop on Nutcracker Lane and this year it became a reality.
Ah Nutcracker Lane, so so much I want to say about this setting, but I'm not the author, I can't do it justice, but let's just say its critical to the story and seeing how the lane develops over the story, and all the other shops on it, let's just say I wish it was a real place that I could go and visit.
This is a book that will have you believing in Christmas Spirt in spades, its full of just everything you could possibly want from the festive season and even more.
If you read just one Christmas book this season, then this should without a doubt be the contender for your attention, you won't regret it (so long as you love feel good, hallmark worthy Christmas romances).
And enjoy discovering whether James is really a Disney Prince, a nutcracker come to life, a real boy, or something even more special!
Thank you to HQ Digital and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
What a fantastic novel, it's a light hearted curl up on a winters day story and was a pleasure to read. The basis of the story line could almost be true to life in theses awful times that we are living in today, but it really is a lovely book to read. Very well written Jamie Admans this is a credit to you, loved it from start to finish infact I wish it went on further. 5 stars and we,, earnt.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC in return for an honest review
I’ve only read two stories written by Jaimie Admans but those stories talked about my most favourite things in the World, books and nutcrackers. She speaks to my soul.
I like to taste her words slowly because it’s like a movie in my head.
I want to tell you that The Little Christmas Shop On Nutcracker Lane had to be made into a movie like yesterday.
Nia, after so many attempts, got accepted to open her Christmas shop on Nutcracker Lane. She is really excited because she has got so many beautiful memories of the place visiting it every year since she was a kid. This year however, after one too many cut at budget, the shops lane in not what it used to be. Nia tries to get Nutcracker Lane its former glory helped by all the shopkeepers and one shop assistant who is in need to find some love for Christmas.
Will she save Nutcracker Lane or this magic place will shut off forever?
I loved the characters and I appreciated the slow growth and little changes you can see they make page after page.
Nia’s enthusiasm for Christmas won me over as much as James.
This story is about Magic and Hope two things that cannot miss at Christmas, I highly recommend to read it if you, like me, aren’t feeling the Christmas spirit this year.
A magical Christmas romance. It was a bit slow in parts but I did find Nia and James very cute together. Liked her trying to change his ‘grinchy’ attitude and her love of all things Christmas. Lovely festive read.
Didn't actually finish this which is unusual for me, I like to persevere. I was reminded of the old Mills & Boon style, nicey, nicey, unrealistic storyline and predictable ending. Sorry, not for me.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another brilliant book from Jaimie.
Nia gets the chance to open a Christmas gift shop in nutcracker lane after years of trying. She finds out that the owner is asking the shop owners to take part in a competition to see who’s shop is the most profitable guaranteeing the winners a shop for the next Christmas. She meets James who hates Christmas and they hatch a plan with the other shop owners to make nutcracker lane profitable again. Little does she know that James has an ulterior motive to get nutcracker lane back to what it was many years ago.
A great Christmas themed book.
A really magical Christmas story. Nia is thrilled when she gets the chance to have a shop on Nutcracker lane which holds happy memories from her childhood. When she hears some of it is being sold off she will do anything to bring it back to its former glory. It's a beautiful story full of nostalgia and it will make you want to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate and marshmallows and watch a nice Christmas movie
Love love loved this book!
A story of the magic of Christmas and how anything seems possible at that time of year. Nia loves Christmas and everything that goes with it, she's got her first shop on Nutcracker Lane and can't wait to open it up on the lane she has loved so much since she was a child. The night before opening day she makes a wish on a nutcracker about finding her Prince charming only for the handsome stranger to turn up the next day. Do wishes really become a reality or is it too good to be true? Anything is possible with the magic of christmas!
I so wish this lane was a real place because I really want to visit! Everything about this book made me feel christmassy and warm. I saw I much of myself in Nia and her love of Christmas that it just mad this book even better for me.
Can't wait to read more from this author.
