This book was full of suspense every page you turn. When reading this book, I could not help but imagine myself in a whole other kingdom full of magic and adventure with all sorts of characters to know and trust. Everyone wishes they can get exactly what they want but everything comes with a price, and Arrah found out the hard way. Coming from a long line of witchdoctors, a lot was on her plate with the runaway of her family, left by the man she loved and all alone she is left to pick up the pieces and discover what her purpose is. Now enter the demon king who is on the rise and Arrah might be the last hope is saving the kingdom and it could be exactly what she is meant for. My heart was racing non-stop and I could not stop reading awaiting to see the fate of the story and it was exciting for sure. I am also awaiting the movie with Michael B Jordan and really hoping it is as good as the book.

We will consider adding this title to our YA collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
