I really loved Book 1 and while I think this was a decent conclusion for the series, I wasn’t in love with it. I kept thinking we would be getting a bigger world, more chemistry between the characters, and a more high stakes conflict. Instead we focused mostly on Amora’s grief journey. I appreciated the depiction of grief and the immense pressure she was under, but I also can’t say I enjoyed her character. Her headstrong stubbornness was at an all-time high for most of the book that I got really irritated with her at times. She refused to trust or listen to her crew and expected them to just follow orders, when truthfully she has no right to rule considering the events that unfolded in the first book.

I didn’t NOT enjoy this. There were many moments I really liked. I still loved the crew and the visits to the islands, but I was expecting to be even more enchanted with the magic in book 2 and we got even less magic (from Amora’s pov) so I was left a bit disappointed.

I still think it’s a duology for those who want great seafaring adventure and magic.

All the Tides of Fate had such beautiful writing, the flow of the story had the perfect pacing and I was very excited to be joining the Keel Haul crew on another adventure.

I did struggle at the beginning of the book though, only able to recall the barest of details about All the Stars and Teeth. It needed some more recaps dropped in it and things explained a bit better. As the story progressed I was able to piece some of it together, but I know even now I’m missing some big details.

What I really loved about the first book was how we got to truly see this world that was created. In book two we get to continue that journey and see some of the places we didn’t before. The worldbuilding was fantastic and I felt like I could really see some Avatar influences in the story. We also got to explore what multiple magics meant for these places and people that maybe weren’t thriving when we last saw them.

I felt like the plot was a tad all over the place at times. I know Amora needed to right the wrongs of her ancestors and restore soul magic, but I was kinda confused why one couldn’t go down without the other. Why did she need her magic back to tell the truth? It was all wrapped up extremely fast and a tad too conveniently. I also had a hard time believing Amora would waver between being selfish or putting her kingdom above all. We know she’s a good ruler and loves her people, so her “dilemma” just wasn’t believable.

The romance was pretty much nonexistent except for two scenes and I missed it. Amora and Bastian had this connection in book one that was lost in the second book. Understandable due to the whole soul splitting thing, but I missed it nonetheless.

While I loved All the Tides of Fate, I found it unnecessary. It was a good book but redundant. I felt the plot could’ve been wrapped up in the first book if it had been a bit longer. That being said I did still really enjoy it. The Keel Haul crew is one of my favorite friend groups and they had such great chemistry and love for each other. The story was fresh and well written with a great adventure that I didn’t want to put down.

All The Tides Of Fate by Adalyn Grace is the conclusion to her All The Stars And Teeth duology. Friends, I was seriously sleeping on this duology. I enjoyed it SO much. Unfortunately, it did not catch my attention until recently. But the upside is that you can read a book at anytime, it isn’t like they expire. All The Tides Of Fate wonderfully wraps up the duology and ties up loose ends which I greatly appreciated.

Adalyn Grace’s book picks up right where All The Stars And Teeth leaves off. FYI, maybe a good idea to not continue reading this review if you do not want to be spoiled for the first book. Amora’s father is dead and she is now the queen of Visidia. Unfortunately, half of her soul is within Bastian and Amora no longer has soul magic or any magic. Still, she will work to enact changes to better her kingdom. First off, she now allows everyone to practice more than one magic. Second, to improve her image, she is about to set out on a tour of the islands to meet eligible bachelors and choose one to marry.

However, Amora has an ulterior motive in her tour. She is looking for a scale from a legendary creature called a godspoken which will give her the power of a god. Unfortunately, that involves lying to Vaetea, the mermaid. Also, Amora is fighting her attraction to Bastian because he literally has part of her soul. She wants to ensure that the part of her soul within him is not influencing her feelings for him. Oh, the tangled webs they weave.

All The Tides Of Fate is a wicked fast read. For an almost 400 page book, I managed to get through it in two days. I was immediately engaged. I appreciated that this book did not spend the whole first chapters recapping book one. The action begins immediately. Amora’s character development is dynamic and believable. The pace at which she grows as a person is realistic. Also, the newly added magic element kept me intrigued with the worldbuilding. So, I think you should pick this book up if you’ve already read the first book and want to read a solid sequel.

This book was sort of a struggle to get through, as it felt sort of unnecessary. Yes, we needed to get Amora’s powers back and get her soul separated from Bastian’s. But the whole premise was kind of annoying. Amora is sort of hard for me to love as a character. There’s nothing wrong with her, but she had so many moments that made me want to take her by the shoulders and shake her, it was outrageous. I also was tired of her relationship with Bastian by the end of the book. Ferrick had never really meant that much to me in the first book or the first half of this one, but by the end of it I was crying from loving his character. He was the reason for all three stars of my review.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, and so had extremely high expectations for this book. This very nearly lived up to them.

I think the characters in this series are some of the most well-written I've read in a while. And though I feel Bastian took a lesser role in this book, I love the addition of Chanty. She's smart and clever, and fits in well with our group. Grace (apparently) knows the value of supporting characters, and takes the time to write very unique and important side characters who could (if we're lucky) go on to have their own adventures in the future.

If I have one complaint about this book, it's Amora's constant whining about her father being dead. Yes, I understand, it's her father, and he died right in front of her. Fine. But I don't need to hear about it 6x per page. On one hand, Amora is a refreshingly independent, forward-thinking character, and I think her constant wishes that her father could come back and rescue her undermines her character.

I appreciate that this series was wrapped up in two books, rather than Grace stretching it into three. It made each book all the more important.

Overall, I really enjoyed this duology. If I may, though, I recommend a read-through of All the Stars and Teeth before you start this one, if it's been a while since you read AtSaT. It took me a minute to remember where we were and what was going on.

What an ending! One of my most anticipated reads of this year and it did not disappoint.

Things I loved:
Mental health rep
- I am so very grateful to authors and publishers who are now including and normalizing mental issues. The relatability is so strong and Amora's struggles are so raw. Panic and PTSD are real issues and the way they are written here are beautiful and well done.
Romance
- I feel like this is a given but how could you not love it? Their banter? Bastian is a yes for me. Solid ten out ten.
Magic system
- We learned more about the magic system in this book than the first and it was amazing! Grace did a marvelous job of creating a world that had depth and range. That allowed for magic and it's creation and growth to be truly engrained in the story.

Things I didn't like:
Wishy washy feelings
- I felt like Amora went off the rails. I say that loosely but honestly. All the work and effort that is put in the first book for her to open up and find her "crew" goes out the window with a swiftness in this book. It annoyed me.
Conflict resolution solution
- EXCUSE ME! Ferrick's death. WHY!!!!

While I didn't love it as much as the first one, this book was still an amazing read. I would highly encourage anyone who loves a good YA fantasy to read this duology.

First off, reread the first book before you read this one if it's been a few months. Many books will have some recap sentences to help readers remember but this one does not. This book has many of the same themes of magic and adventure as the first one. But also has new themes included, such as the main characters responsibility to her kingdom now that she has returned. Overall, fun and easy to read. This is a perfect summer read for those who enjoy a few pirates in the stories!

This was a great sequel. It was fun and the romance made it interesting. I loved getting to know more about Amora and Bastien throughout the book. I am so glad I did a reread of All the Stars and Teeth beforehand and definitely recommend that. I loved the ending and can't wait to see what Adalyn Grace does next.

This was a great ending to a cute and fun duology. The writing is very captivating though the content is a little anti-climactic at the end. The hea was sweet and fine. Just not breathtaking

I think I enjoyed this even more than the first in the duo. I like that it is set just a short time after the first book. It is a book dealing with confusing emotions and overcoming trauma. I would recommend trigger warnings on this book. Amora is a strong character who faces many difficult decisions. I would recommend this for children/YA that is interested in decision making. Overall, an enjoyable read.

This was a wonderful conclusion to the duology. I enjoyed being back in this world! Their adventures were enjoyable. I really loved this cast of characters and I will miss them.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

I really love this series! I signed up originally because I will try anything that looks like it involves mermaids, but I got way more than I expected from All the Stars and Teeth, so I was super excited when it was announced to be a series!

Grace's writing style is fantastic. It's got a vivid, dark feel--spooky like an abandoned ship in the fog. The characters are extremely well-developed, interesting, and likeable. Amora is an outstanding lead that you want to follow the adventures of.

To me, this series is like V.E. Schwab's writing--fast-paced and completely un-put-downable once you've started! Dark enough to draw you in and keep you entranced.

I was a bit nervous going into All the Tides of Fate after reading All the Stars and Teeth, but I’m happy to report that I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel.
I loved the magic system and world building done in the first first book and i felt that this addition really explored everything even further. It was so fun and action packed, it read very quick.
-I will say the end had me crying but I thought it explored grief and loss well.
All in all, I’m happy with how this duology wrapped up and I’m excited to see what Adalyn Grace does next!

*I received an ARC from the author and NetGalley for an honest review. Mild spoilers for All the Stars and Teeth.*

This sequel was just as good as the first book, if not better. Taking place just after where All the Stars and Teeth ended, Amora is now Queen of Visidia and still dealing with the loss of her magic. Cursed by Kaven and her soul still bound to Bastian, Amora struggles to serve her kingdom and hide the truth about her family’s past.

When her advisers inform Amora that she needed to take a husband to show her kingdom she be a stable ruler and provide an heir she is outraged. However with the return of an old enemy, and the chance to restore all that was lost, she decides to tour her kingdom in search of a mate. In reality she is looking for someone who can lead her to an ancient artifact that could help her restore her magic.

This book is full of action, adventure, romance and more. I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this world again. I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Visidia as the ending leaves it open for more and possibly a spin off.

All the Tides of Fate by Adalyn Grace: Complex and Emotional
Through blood and sacrifice, Amora Montara has conquered a rebellion and taken her rightful place as queen of Visidia. Now, with the islands in turmoil and the people questioning her authority, Amora cannot allow anyone to see her weaknesses.

No one can know about the curse in her bloodline. No one can know that she’s lost her magic. No one can know the truth about the boy who holds the missing half of her soul.

To save herself and Visidia, Amora embarks on a desperate quest for a mythical artifact that could fix everything—but it comes at a terrible cost. As she tries to balance her loyalty to her people, her crew, and the desires of her heart, Amora will soon discover that the power to rule might destroy her.

As the sequel to All the Stars and Teeth, this second novel in the duology is everything one could hope for and completely wraps up the story and relationships begun in the first book. In the first, we were introduced to the characters and the situations but in the second, we deal with the consequences and the turmoil of Amora taking up the crown. While Amora is doing her best to save Visidia and help all her people, she is afraid to allow anyone in, to allow anyone to see her weaknesses. When she learns about a possible artifact that could fix her problems, she fails to see that it could come with a terrible cost. Along the way, she encounters treason, questioning, doubts, and crippling nightmares. And if she can recover the artifact, she must decide if the cost is worth the risk to her and to her people. She must learn the lessons of allowing love in and letting grief go.
What I feel makes this story so compelling is the complexity of the characters and the depth of emotion that the author is able to explore. There are some dense emotions that are explored in this novel and the author does so well. Amora has lost her father, she’s lost her magic, and she is reeling from those twin events. Despite her trying to appear confident, she is having nightmares, struggling with carrying on, and the way those emotions are conveyed, as she pushes people away instead of accepting help, kept me as a reader on the edge of my seat. Ultimately, the story is not about Amora finding an artifact to help her out of a situation but about her accepting love, accepting help, and finding a way to move forward that allows herself and her people to be who they are meant to be.
While I found the story compelling, one of the small problems I had was that the story is written in present tense. Most stories are written in past tense. While that allowed every situation to be immediate and intense, the point of view in first person granting us a more intimate view of the character, I truly struggled with the tense as I am not used to reading present tense. To me, that is more of my own problem, though. The author’s reasons for using that technique showed in the intensity of the story and the actions. So while you might not be familiar with present tense stories, let me assure you that if you take the time, the story is well worth it and it adds to the experience.
There are zero flaws I could find. The plot perfectly ties up the dangling threads from the first book and the characters bring such emotion to the pages. The ending is emotional and ends the two story volume perfectly.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

All the Tides of Fate is the sequel to All the Stars and Teeth. Amora is ruling the kingdom after her father’s death. She’s dealing with advisers and others that are trying to show their lack of confidence in her through insubordination and rude remarks, but Amora handles it well. Bastian arrives at the meeting and announces himself an adviser. At the end of the meeting, Amora is asked to prove her magic is working and is told that she needs to be engaged to give the kingdom something to look forward to and as a distraction. Amora manages to trick the advisers into believing her magic is intact with the help of a few others. She travels with her crew to pretend to find a fiancé and search for the artifact needed to restore her magic and make her soul complete. Full of action and loyalty and deception and tough decisions, All the Tides of Fate is a perfect ending to this duology, 5 stars!

If you enjoyed the first book, you will love this one! I am so happy - this was better than I had expected and even more enjoyable than the first. I really enjoyed the world building in All The Stars and Teeth and learning about the magic system.  From this sequel though, it's clear that the first novel only scratched the surface of the magical abilities, and this one really showed more of the intricacies and possibilities of what the magic could do.  It was also easier to jump into, without too much rehashing of the events that already occurred.  This book was action packed and the character development was on point! Yes! Amora really came into her own, rejecting many things placed on her, maturing her response to things, and really learning from her experiences and people around her. This is such a big plus for me and I found myself rooting even harder for Amora and her friends. The ending had my heart hurting which is a sure indication of how much I connected with the characters.  Also romance! Yes! Enemies to lovers is a favorite, and while this is not exactly that, there is a good reluctance/spice to it that I really enjoyed.  The writing is such a wonderful experience and mix of action+adventure with a dark side and truly a mix of so many YA qualities.  There were descriptions of loss and grief that were so vivid and well done, and also healing that really made you feel it.
