From small, sometimes unnoticeable, tools, like for example thermometer, to big machines like submarines. Those are human creations that awed us. How they work? Here is a simple explanation for curious minds on how those machines serve people. But as for kids, this book is an interesting read for adults, so they can at least understand how those machines works, and explain to children.

I myself would love to enjoy reading this with my nephews and nieces!

These kinds of books are always going to go over well with young readers. As children we love examining how things are put together, what makes them run. Consider the sustained popularity of books like The Way Things Work. This one looks at the internal mechanisms of a wide variety of machines but only in a very simple way. We get one or two vital parts of complex machines, the whole only with simple things like balance scales or thermometers. It's a short, pleasant version of a familiar concept.

This is a great book for kids, my son loved the illustrations. I definatly want to buy a physical copy for him.

The Everyday Workings of Machines book, by Steve Martin, is a great nonfiction book for your upper-level elementary readers. The illustrations are kid-friendly, and the information is one that is simple yet pushes your reader's learning. I loved how the book was divided into different locations such as the mall, home, car, and under the water. I can see lots of readers getting pulled in by the inner workings of machines that we see everywhere. I would highly recommend this book for any reader that loves machines and learning about the systems that make our items go.

This book will be adored by children who want to understand how things work. Their adults will also learn something along the way.

This illustrated title is organized by many different categories. For example, there are Machines that Turn, Machines and Sound, Trains, At School, Machines for Fun, Machines to Keep You Safe and more. There are also suggestions for further reading at the end of the book.

The authors impart a lot of information in this illustrated text. Children will be intrigued to learn about everything from how the toilet works to what makes a thermometer able to take your temperature to what keeps a plane in the air and so much more.

This book is just brilliant! It is perfect for teaching about simple machines and will be sure to engage any child who really wants to know how things work. There are plenty of diagrams and illustrations to help break down the machines into simple parts and explanations. If you have a child in your life that keeps asking 'how' and 'why' this book is perfect!

Fantastic book for kids on how machines work. It explains things they would encounter in everyday life, both simple like a stapler and more complex like an air conditioner. It also covers things like airplanes, submarines, and robots. The items are explained in easy to understand terms and with great detailed illustrations. The book just seems a little short, at less than 50 pages, but what is there is really good.

The every day working of machines by Steve Martin is a great educational read for young readers! My children loved this book. The illustrations are great as well.

This is such an amazing book about how machines work! The Everyday Workings of Machines covers the types of simple machines, and then illustrates and explains the different types of machines you would see at home, at a shopping mall, in the car, in the air, on the sea, in the environment, and more. It offers such a comprehensive list of machines, yet is so readable and easy to understand for kids! My kids and I loved the layout, and the presentation of text accompanying the vibrant illustrations was perfect.

The book also covers robots, construction machines, machines that keep us safe, those that move without fuel, machines at school, trains, & measuring machines among others. I can't wait to purchase a hard copy of this book for my family! It will be such a great reference to look back at again and again.

The text is easy to understand is supported by illustrations. The illustrations are engaging and they have stayed away from things that would make this book immediately dated. This is one I would definitely recommend for any future engineers! Basically within these pages we get the break down of everything from Planes to Pogo Sticks, Toasters to Escalators. With detailed graphs on how and why things work the way they work it leave your littles how have a tendency to ask "WHY" without many more questions. Great graphics & perfect for all ages.

This is a really fun book with basic physics principles and explanations of everyday machines. It includes a variety of household and industrial machines which makes it great for browsing. The graphics are really well done and the descriptions are detailed without being a slog. My 4 year old enjoyed flipping through the pages and talking about what she saw, my older boys are enjoying the text as well. Would recommend adding to a home library, and giving as a gift to any kiddo interested in how things work and the mechanics of everyday objects.

This is very informative and I actually learned a lot about the mechanisms of different kinds of machines. I think everyone who loves to know how things work and tinker things, no matter what age group, will enjoy reading this book.

My son is obsessed with machines, so I knew I had to request this book right away! He's a bit young for it (3), but I can still see him enjoying the bright colorful pictures and simple explanations, even if he doesn't really understand them yet! I love how this book shows all the different machines we use each day, from scissors to the Large Hadron Collider. I can see children spending a lot of time enjoying this book and looking at the world around them in a totally new way!

I am basically a big dummy and learned so much from this book on how some machines worked. I will be giving this to my kids when they are old enough.
