This was my first time reading this author.
The premise was highly intriguing, and yet it fell flat for me. For such a fast paced story, it seemed to drag on quite a lot. I mean, some key information isn't revealed to one of the main characters until about 50% in! And more than once I had to re-read a run-on sentence in order to make sense of it. I'd try to skip over these cumbersome lines only to discover a short time later that it held a truth or important lesson for one of the main characters, and I'd have to go back and struggle to make sense of it.
Key information seems to be left out of the story, there was an unfortunate lack of depth to the characters, and too often I found my attention wandering so much that I'd shut the book and easily turn to something else for a while. So many (too many?) other characters are introduced in preparation for their stories in the series I almost lost track of them all. One of the characters has multiple epiphanies, and yet never seems to grow in any way. And let's not talk about the plot holes so big you could fly a dragon through them!
I really wanted to like this book. Sadly, I just didn't. It's not a bad book, I've just evolved as a reader so that this type of book no longer holds any interest. Others may find it more to their liking.
I’m on the fence about this book. There were aspects I really liked - the town of Ever After, the fairy tale characters brought to life, but the story itself fell a bit flat. The three fairy godmother’s were fun at first and then kind of started getting a bit annoying at times. The live story was ok, although the secondary story had more potential.
2.5 🌟
I liked the idea, I was a huge fan of Once Upon A Time and this book was like that except more in the background than the show. A town of fairy tales trying to save their magic through love. The problem is the humor was a bit juvenile for me and while I liked the characters at times, the rest of the time it just seemed like we had a checklist of items for them to do and it didn’t flow as well as it should. Was it fun at times? Absolutely. Sweet at others? Of course. Just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess. It felt like it was missing some of the things I need in a romcom.
The author created an amusing, and highly interesting world, then filled it with sassy and addictive characters.
"Serious is good, but levity is better."
The only thing I didn't enjoy in this story was that whole "The boy who missed" thing.
That seemed like a ridiculous and weird addition to the story and far too much focus was wasted on it.
I'm excited the author is turning the godmothers and Ever After into a series!
I look forward to the next book.
Thanks to NetGalley & Kensington Books for my DRC.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an opportunity to read Fairy Godmothers Inc
A cute romance story that takes place in the town of Ever After. The three fairy godmothers decide to match make for their godchildren, who had a romance that didn’t work out years before.
I loved the fairy tale aspects of the book - introducing characters from various fairy tales into the story - but it did get to to be too many side stories at times and the magical animals were a little too much for me 🤷♀️ the love story of Lucky ( who is quite unlucky ) and Ransom was ok, but I actually liked the blossoming romance of Gwen and Roderick better .
If you like fairy tale tellings and romance, you may enjoy this so give it a try.
I liked the premise, I liked and enjoyed the characters (particularly the Godmothers), there was a nice touch of humor and rom-com feeling. Overall I enjoyed the book, just not as much as I thought or expected I would. The reason for that I feel was simply personal preferences/pet peeves. Some of the personality traits of the h/h tend to be ones that bug me when reading and the reason for their prior relationship failing and opposition to the current reunion didn't work for me as it rubbed along one of my personal plot line dislikes. However as I did feel it was well written and (as mentioned) liked the premise of turning Ever After Missouri from secret magical town to wedding destination and the Godmothers meddling that I will be looking out for the next book.
Fairy Godmothers Inc is an enchanting tale of Lucky who feels more unlucky than her name, and of Ransom who owns his own chocolate company. They have mutual Godmothers who meddle in their affairs to bring them together. The Godmothers ask Lucky and Ransom to have a fake marriage together to help sales in their town of Ever After.
To sum up the genre of this novel, I would say it's a rom com fantasy. I enjoyed the whimsical and witty characters as well. The meddling Godmothers made the story. Gwen and Roderick were nice supporting characters. I enjoyed the little back stories as to the other fairytale characters.

Fun!
I'm a sucker for anything fairy and Fairy Godmothers Inc. fit the bill perfectly.
Lucky Fujiki is always down on her luck. She is so unlucky in life that she passes on her unlucky vibes to anyone she comes in contact with. Ransom Payne (the name!) is her ex and has already been tarnished with her unluckiness during an unmentionable incident (ahem).
Meanwhile, Petunia, Jonquil, and Bluebonnet are fairy godmothers who are losing their touch. They have to bring love back in the town or else risk losing their powers.
So what happens next?
You guessed it right! The trio test their powers on their guinea pigs a.k.a. Lucky and Ransom to some hilarious results.
I liked this book. It was a light, pleasurable read with some lol moments. Will look out for books from Saranna DeWylde
3.5/5 stars.

Okay my lovely friends so I have very mixed feelings about this book. Actually I think saying this book was a mix of many things was it's biggest issue...
The hallmark loving half of me enjoyed the super corny happily ever after vibe that the author was going for. The title and cover had me squealing in excitement because I love all things fairy tale related, especially book retellings. I loved the fairy tale town, the promise of a happily ever after and the three meddling fairy Godmothers. I really felt like it was going to be a win...
Though those elements were there, what I found I got more often got was a book trying really hard to be funny but fell flat and steamy moments between Ransom and Lucky (who was forever UNlucky in love) that felt more raunchy than authentic. Let me explain...
Look don't get me wrong, I love a fun steamy scene, but though the chemistry was there, the steamy moments didn't have the story to back it up. It felt too intimate with characters I never really got to know...there was no buildup.
I think Fairy Godmothers Inc had a really cute foundation. It was a super easy read and I did enjoy moments of the book. I just wanted so much more for what could have been a really heartwarming story.
So this one was okay, I don't think I'll be picking up the next book in the series but I still love a good happily ever after, and the book did deliver on that.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington books for an arc of this book in exchange for my (very) honest review.
I really wanted to love this one - or at least like it more than I did - but after debating how to start this review, I realized it just didn't work for me.
I loved the concept of the godmothers - three sister witches who love to meddle, I loved the idea of Ever After being a hidden gem of a small town, brimming with magic , where fairy tales are living breathing things. What's not to like about that, right?
Sadly the MCs sunk this one and I quickly found myself losing enthusiasm over reading to the end. This is supposed to be a 2nd chance at love romance but their main obstacle was of their own making and Lucky was an heroine I had a really hard time warming up too with her woe is me attitude.
I liked Ransom (at first) he seemed the more open and mature of the two but then he gets cold feet and wigs out and bails on the woman he claims to love and it was so out of character for him!
Overall it has potential (Gwen and Roderick) as the start to a new series but not one I would re-read any time soon.
DNF @ 30%. I am not a fan of either Hallmark movies or the Disney princesses. This felt like a mix of the two so this definitely was not a good fit for me. Also I found a lot of the dialogue cringe worthy.
Okay CUTE! This was such an adorable read and was way more entertaining than I had expected! Really loved this one!
This would have to be the first time that I have ever called a book KOOKY. It was fun if you read it as if you’re reading a fairy tale, which is the intent. The story starts kind of abruptly. I felt like I missed some backstory or book 1 (although I’m fairly certain this is book 1 in the series). But the fairy tale characters are all funny and fun to recognize from their original stories. It’s definitely a throwback to childhood but the story is too fluffy. I found myself saying “what is happening?!” Quite a bit. Undecided on if this theme will get old quickly and whether I’ll read the second book but it’s fun to read as a stand-alone!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was hooked on Fairy Godmothers, Inc. right from the first chapter that introduces us to the FGs themselves, the Blossom sisters. The fairy godmothers' magic has been fading for years, and they know they need to do something to rejuvenate it. The fairy godmothers decide to turn to two humans who owe them a favor, Lucky and Ransom. Lucky thinks her name is a curse – she's unlucky in most absurd, awful situations. When her godmothers ask her to fake marry Ransom, her first love and one man she desperately wants to forget, she can't say no. The godmothers set about planning their fake wedding in Ever After, Missouri in an effort to save magic and their town.
I adored everything about this book. Every character is interesting, compelling, and empathetic. The dialogue is fantastic, and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny. Ransom and Lucky's character arcs were so satisfying. The concept takes tales and characters all of us are familiar with and subverts them in truly charming ways (no pun intended).
This was my first Saranna DeWylde book, and now I can't wait to read more of her stuff. I'm so excited for this book to be out in the world so that I can gush about it with my bookish friends and bookstagram community. Thank you so much Kensington Books for providing me with an e-ARC.
What fuels the magic in the magical village of Ever After? Love, of course. Alas, it’s running low when the book begins, so Petunia, Bluebonnet, and Jonquil, the fairy godmothers of the title, concoct a plan to turn Ever After into a wedding destination. To publicize their quiet village in the Arkansas countryside, they recruit two of their favorite charges to have a fake wedding. Lucky Fujiki and Ransom Payne fell in love in college, but Lucky’s signature bad luck caused one crazy disaster after another every time they tried to make love, ultimate resulting in Ransom becoming known as “The Boy Who Missed” and a painful breakup. Ransom, now the high-profile billionaire owner of the chocolate empire Heart’s Desire, is willing to risk resurrecting his unfortunate moniker to help out his godmothers, and in spite of her own fears Lucky agrees to the fake wedding too.
An excess of ribald language in a Disneyland setting put me off at first, but it is funny and gives the story a contemporary feel. I enjoyed discovering Ever After with its cast of characters out of the classic fairy tales, friendly forest creatures, castle, and endless supply of cake, pastries, and ice cream sodas. The plot drew me in with its urgent questions. Will Lucky and Ransom ever be able to consummate their love? Can they save Ever After? I would have liked a little more depth to the characters though. While Ransom’s career defines him, Lucky’s seems to be an afterthought. She’s an artist, but we never really see her at work, just her string of bad luck.
Recommended for readers who like fairy tales and romance novels.
Enchanting! Very fun and funny read full of delightfully charming characters all of whom were very likable and deserving of feisty Godmothers. This will be a fun hand sell and I can't wait to read book two.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me an eARC of this book in return for a fair and honest review.
This book is about two people struggling to get their Happily Ever After, some meddling Fairy Godmothers, and the power of love.
My thoughts:
This was a very cute second chance romance and I love fairytale anything. I will say the writing could have been better. The conflict and the reason behind the first breakup prior to the events of the book were just a little silly in my opinion. If you have good suspension of disbelief and just want a fun lighthearted read with some whimsy this is a good book for you.
I adored this book. I am a sucker for all things fairy tale. I loved the Godmothers and their different personalities. I loved their relationships with Lucky and Ransom. I enjoyed meeting all of the fairy tale characters and the quaint town they all lived in. It definitely made me want Ever After to be a real place.
My only negative is the author left some loose ends that I would love to have seen resolved. Hopefully the next book will satisfy my curiosity, as I completely plan on reading it! I need more of the Godmothers in my life.
This book was a cute and fun read with a new take on all of our loved fairytales. The book kind of had a hallmark movie feel which to me is never a bad thing.
The characters were fun and the book had a good flow. There was not any steaminess if that is what you are looking for.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
The only thing I was not a fan of was the whole boy who missed thing. It felt childish and not something that needed to be brought up that much. There needed to be something else he was upset about.
Sadly Amazon will not allow reviews yet.
This book had so much potential. I loved the idea of Fairy Godmothers setting up couples and meddling. I expected it to be heartwarming, funny and sweet. It was all of those things but it was also incredibly CORNY. I enjoyed the first half of the book and sped through it but for the second half I cannot count the number of eye rolls I had or how predictable this book was. I know that its chick lit and I'm not expecting a literary masterpiece but by the last quarter of the book I just couldn't anymore. I finished it, but it was begrudgingly.
