While the story was cute, and I appreciated the magical elements, I think it was just a little bit over-the-top for me, even for a magical rom-com. The story follows Lucky, a woman who is (ironically) chronically unlucky, and Ransom. The two dated years prior, but broke up, and are now forced into a fake-engagement sitch by their respective godmother's so in order to bring business to their match-making company. The plot sounded promising but in reality, it was primarily just a lot of sex during the first half and then an attempt to add actual storylines around halfway through.
This was such a cute story. It was filled with great characters and amazing chemistry. I recommend checking it out!
Cute, mildly spicy, magical fairy tale romance that is definitely not appropriate for children. It's the first book in a series. The fairy godmothers are on a mission to save and rebuild their town Ever After, Missouri. The story pays homage to a lot of the typical fairy tale stories you grew up with as a kid. Princes turned into frogs, true love's kiss, woodland animals sewing dresses. Even some of your favorite fairy tale characters like Hansel and Gretel, Red and Grammy (Little Red Riding Hood), and Goldilocks make appearances. It was a little long and drawn out for my taste but if you like fairy tales and the promise of Happily Ever After, you will probably enjoy this one.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory
Sadly, I just couldn't work up any enthusiasm for this book. Very seldom do I delve into rom-com anything but the premise sounded so promising. I'm sure others will love it, I'll be back in the mystery section.
I DNFed this a while ago, and I can’t make myself go back and finish it. I thought the blurb was cute, but the books was just not for me.
I really, really wanted to love this story. The premise is super cute and so charming... a magical city where characters from fairytales live their lives in peace. Who wouldn't want to live there? Unfortunately, the execution of the story leaves something to be desired. The plot and writing and hit and miss, the pacing is off, and there are a lot of dead spots. I also didn't care a ton for the main characters.
So why 3 stars? The side characters are wonderful! I will definitely give some of their stories a try and hope the writing improves. There are also some super cute moments that saved the book for me. My overall impression is that I wish another author was writing this series because it's so promising but lacks the magic the story needs.
Such a quirky and sweet romance -- I've never read anything like it! I loved the "magical realism" elements in this novel -- it made it so unique and whimsical. I can't wait to read DeWylde's next release!
I loved the concept of this book and I really wanted to love this book...but unfortunately it was a DNF for me. I didn't feel the spark between the main characters and I couldn't get sucked into the world that the author set up.
Fairy Godmothers, Inc. was such a cute, lighthearted story that was filled with very likable characters and a fun premise. I enjoyed it a lot ; and recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet modern day fairy tale romance
Such a fun and unique plot. The main characters and their romance was so sweet. I really enjoyed this spin on the fairy godmother's with the perfect mix of laughs and drama. Such a good read.
The perfect light-heart happy rom-com! I was in dire need of a rom-com that would keep me entertained, reading for more, AND served as a distraction. This book did just that! It’s a super cheesy story but I love cheesy. So if you also love cheesy. You’re in for it! It’s a sweet storyline that feels young and funny. I also loved how the author took something so classic (like fairy tale stories / magic) and put a modern twist to it. Highly recommend if you want something youthful.
This was a pretty cute romance with a unique spin, but I'm not generally the biggest fan of romance books. It did seem a little slow and dragged out in places, but the characters and their personalities more than made up for the pacing.
What an adorable read! The fairies reminded me a lot of the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty.... I loved them! It was a quick read for me, and I felt fully immersed into this magical world of Ever After! I only found out that there's going to be a sequel, which I'm already dying to read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an eARC, in exchange for an honest review.
Fantastic! This grown-up fairytale will at turns have you laughing out loud and sighing with despair. The characters are adorable and truly funny. You’ll laugh and cry at Lucky and Ransom and the OFG’s. I can’t say much without spoilers so I’ll just say you want this book vacation. This tale will suck you in and leave you wanting a return trip to Ever After. I’ve already preordered the next book.
Honestly, this is Not Good. The premise is so cute! But now I've tried it as both ebook and audiobook and... I cannot.
Here are my thoughts based on the 10% I pushed through:
- one of the main characters is Japanese-American and I don’t think the rep will magically become great
- the big conflict between the two characters seems to consist entirely of the time in college when they had bad sex (she gives him the nickname The Boy Who Missed after he somehow unintentionally penetrates the wrong place). It’s juvenile and I just… this is not a great conflict to support a fake marriage second chance plot
- the writing is clumsy and the audio narrator’s soft, smooth voice isn’t a good match for what I expected to be a silly fairytale romp
- this is the straightest book I’ve read in a while
I purchased a copy of this book and now I'm off to find someone who wants it.
I loved this trip into a fairyland, well a fairytale town anyway! It was a cute fake relationship love story that made me smile. The godmothers were fantastic!
This was cute, but a little fanciful for my tastes. I also wish the main characters had spent more time together. We were told they were in love in the past, but never really saw their relationship. It was fun, but I won't be reading any more in the series.
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.
