Truly magical! Suspend disbelief and buckle up for the ride. A mix of fairy tale, Ron com and bonk buster! Such a delicious combination! I cannot wait for the next instalment. Thoroughly enjoyed this read!
Thank you Netgalley
I enjoyed this book. The story appealed to me and was nicely written. There's a lot of cuteness, heart and emotion that make it fairly easy to get swept up into this tale. I loved the setting and the premise behind this read but I did have some issues with it. Ransom and Lucky made quite the pair and boy, I'll admit from the blurb I was rooting for them. However, as the storyline unfolds my emotions and thoughts are forced to change multiple times and in the end I just wasn't sure I could 100% back this couple. Even though Ransom had me feeling a bit confused, I still thought he deserved better.
This was a cute sexy second-chance romance, plus a bit of fake marriage going on. It’s very quirky and magical, due to the town of Ever After and its characters. And I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but then I got a little bit bored.
Everything did happen very fast, the wrap up felt rushed so I didn’t really appreciate this. Also, the characters felt very simple and lacked a little more depth. The story was fun, but I was just missing more development. The atmosphere of Ever After was a good idea, but the writing got me kind of confused and I missed more detailing.
It would work very well on the screen as a rom-com. But if you want a fun book for Valentine’s Day, I think this could work for you.
Ok. Not my favorite. I love adult fairy tales but this is so crass. “Or the way those breeches fit his incredible ass” ?!?! The whole thing about the awkward sex from their past and everyone knew? Ugh. The names of the godmothers are stupid. Like a Disney movie. This is definitely more for “The Bachelorette” crowd than the Downton Abbey one. Dumbed down. How she called her mom “Ma”. Who does that who doesn’t live in a trailer? So why did I give it 4 stars? Because I know tons of women who will eat this up and love it! Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it should be tossed out. Well done for what it is.
It was so nice to have something to escape into during this absolutely trash heap of a year. Yes, the plot is occasionally absurd (even taking into account that the story exists within a fairy tale world where magic and fairy godmothers are real) and the characters all over the place, but it was an interesting idea and still fun to read. I would definitely read another book in this series.
3.5 stars
Love is in the air in the magical town of Ever After, Missouri. If only the two lovebirds could get their acts together.
Saranna DeWylde has created a delightfully saucy fairy tale for the modern era. Packed with memorable characters, snappy dialogue, and a great message about the importance of family, this is a wonderful new addition to the happily ever after canon.
At first, I was worried that this was going to be a disappointment because I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what exactly was happening with all of the characters. However, once it really got going, I breezed right through it! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the forthcoming sequel because I need some more Petty, Bluebottom, and Jonquil in my life ASAP.

This book is full of magic and funny moments. One will have a hard time not falling in love with the three fairy godmothers. This story has great bones to it, and while some of the parts are a bit lacking or hard to follow, it is an enjoyable read and hopefully, in the rest of the series, that will sort itself out.
I have always loved fairy tales, so Fairy Godmothers, Inc. looked like something I'd enjoy reading. I'm so glad I did! The story is so much fun, laugh-out-loud rom-com and sweet, likable characters made me want to visit Ever After, Missouri myself! The town is in trouble and needs an influx of love, so the godmothers decide to have a "fake" wedding with two of their godchildren, Ransom and Lucky, for publicity purposes. Lucky and Ransom have a history and have avoided seeing each other after the decidedly unlucky incident, but will do anything for the godmothers, so they have agreed to participate. Lucky believes that despite her name, she is definitely UNlucky. Can the godmothers, friends, and family convince her otherwise and help her get her "happily ever after?" Ms. DeWylde is an author I have not read before. I am looking forward to the next book in this new series and exploring her previous books. I am a new fan!
Fairy Godmothers, Inc. by Saranna DeWylde is a fun novel to end my December reads with because it is filled with joy and love wrapped up in comedy, make believe and romance.
Petuna, Jonquil, and Bluebonnet are the loveliest fairy godmothers who share a home in Ever After, Missouri. Their dilemma begins right away when their magic wands are quickly losing power. It seems they need love to be useful and Ever After has not seen true love for quite awhile.
Enter the rom com solution. The fairy godmothers convince their two godchildren Lucky ( who actually believes she is "cursed" with bad luck and she might be right) and Ransom (who makes chocolate for a living!) to fake an engagement and have Ever After be their wedding destination. Soon other couples will come for the romance and magic will he restored!
Of course, all does not go as planned. There is the fact that Lucky and Ransom were once a couple and it did not end well. Then the quirky townspeople cause more chaos than helpful moments but it is all cute and fun.
The author has a great premise and this is the first in a series of Ever After stories. I hope we will see more of the side characters as some of their stories were left unresolved and I really need the best friends of the main couple to get together!
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
Happy #PubDay to FAIRY GODMOTHERS, INC. by Saranna DeWylde - and thank you to @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for the eARC to review! Fairy Godmothers, Inc. is a romance novel led by three meddling godmother’s in Ever After, Missouri. This is definitely a twist on happily ever after, magic and some beloved fairy tale characters.
While I definitely enjoyed the concept and the two main characters, this book missed the mark for me. There is so much emphasis on “The Incident” that gives one of the main characters the nickname: The Boy that Missed - to the point where he apparently went viral for it? HOWEVER, the incident didn’t even seem like that big of a deal, is definitely something that accidentally happens during sex sometimes, is not something a random young man would become viral over, and was never fully explained/resolved, but the MC felt all this lingering shame over it.
Overall, it was a cute concept and story, but some of the plot points were way underdeveloped or completely unnecessary. This is the first in a series, but while I did enjoy my time reading it, I probably won’t be running to grab the second when it is released.
I received an e-arc of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted so badly to love this book. From the summary to the cover everything was done right to set me up to love this but ultimately I just couldn't fall in love with the characters. To be completely clear I still absolutely love the concept of this story but the writing was a bit over the top and made me feel disconnected from the characters and the overall storyline.
Honestly some of the things brought up in this story are so unbelievable (and that's even with fairy godmothers being a real thing), that it was so hard for me to stay grounded in the story. It did seem like the story was going to try and be a bit about loving yourself as you are which I think is a great message if it does indeed continue in that direction. And while this story was meant to be a second chance romance it also seemed very insta lovey but they refuse to really do anything about it.
If you can get by the over the top nature and craziness of this story I really do think it would be an enjoyable and cute read. I would recommend this story for someone who doesn't mind reading over the top scenarios and is looking for a cute fairy tale romance about some intervening fairy godmothers. Has the one bed trope and is a second chance romance.
There's magic in the world and the heart of it is in Ever After, Missouri. But the magic is fading because it runs on love, so our three fairy god mothers (yes, those fairy godmothers) decide to make Ever After a wedding destination. After all, they already have a castle! To start it off, they rope in godchildren Lucky Fujiki (who is the opposite of lucky) and Ransom Payne, billionaire chocolatier to have a fake wedding.
I ran hot and cold on this book. It's a cute idea and requires a reset of my reading brain, because the tone is aiming for comedic, but that not when it's the most successful for me. I really enjoyed the friend relationships in the story - I think that's where this shines.
Lucky and Ransom have a history - they were in love, but had bad luck every time they tried to be intimate: tornados, feral pigs, that kind of thing. Culminating with an unfortunate incident that resulted in Ransom being known as "The Boy Who Missed," which just doesn't make sense to me. He was an unknown at the time and yet went viral for that? I kept ignoring that bit because it just didn't work for me.
The obvious comparison is the town of Story Brooke, Maine from the show Once Upon a Time. Except if it had talking cartoon birds with Brooklyn accents.
I think the idea is cute, but it didn't come together 100% for me. Still, when I enjoyed it, I really enjoyed it. There's promise here.
I received an ARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for a review. This book started off kind of slow for me. I wasn't really sure how I felt about it at first. I don't think that our main character, Lucky, is a particularly likable character. Ransom & Roderick are great. I love the relationship they have. Gwen and the monsters are delightful. Love the fairy tale world that this story takes place in. I hope we get more of the other fairy tales characters in the books to come. Lots of great secondary characters. I loved the twist the mom's backstory added to this book. I thought the "grand gesture" was a huge cop out because everything was already set up and for him already. However I can't wait to see where this series goes. It was a solid 4 for me and I'm definitely all in for the next book.
It certainly was an unusual rom com book but I enjoyed it.
We have Lucky who seems to be a bit unlucky despite the name when she was at college she had a boyfriend called Ransom and unusual things happened to them.
They have Godmothers who live in Ever After and want to have a wedding to bring back magic to the town so they decide that Lucky & Ransom need to get married even it is a fake wedding.
It was certainly funny in bits and I really liked the book. We have romance and also can be sad in places.
Very cute story in a fun setting. This book did a lot of setting up for the series, so I expect to read many more of these!

This book is like a cupcake: the cover is pretty and the summary leads you to think that it'll be a cute read - not overly substantial but fluffy and satisfying like a dessert should be. Unfortunately, there's too much frosting here and something tastes a bit off.
The two stars are for creativity. It's an interesting premise. I love fairy tale spin-offs and magical worlds. I was hoping this would be fun and different and entertaining. It fell short of all of that for me. The tone of the narration didn't strike the right chord. It was too preachy, too much tell and not enough show. Tension didn't build because it was resolved so quickly.
There's promise here. There are intriguing tidbits and character backstories that are worth exploring and developing. This could be something really great but it's drowning in sugar right when it really needs a solid meal first.
As it stands now, I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this.
This was charming, sweet, likeable and just what I needed at the end of an INSANE year.
I really enjoyed the overall story and cast of characters. While this wasn't mind blowing, I did enjoy it and think many others will to.
I love a good fairy tale setting or retelling or just basically anything that involves fairy tales or happily ever afters. I had such high hopes and this fell a bit flat for me. So this was a 3 star read. Oh and don't let the title fool you this is definitely R rated.
Ever After, Missouri is where our story takes place. We find our 3 fairy godmothers (wedding planner wannabes) convincing their godchildren Ransom and Lucky to have a pretend fake wedding to drum up some business. These two have quite a history as they dated back in college. Apparently Lucky, is not very lucky at all. The crazy kids agree and hilarity ensues.
Now for my love hate points. I love the idea of a town where fairy tale characters live and work. Granny running a bakery, Rosebud running a dress shop, Prince Charming running a B&B in the castle, -love it all. But oh so many characters. Sometimes I had trouble keeping up with them all. I see that this will probably be a series with each one finding a HEA but wow, so many introductions.
I really did enjoy the romance between the Ransom and Lucky but it felt a little high school, almost juvenile, aside from the obvious sex joke that runs throughout. Lucky likes him so much but doesn't want to see him. She loves him, but can't let herself kiss him. Ransom knows they should be together but keeps running away. UGH high school angst anyone?
My last love hate point was the slow burn of this book, oh it was slow. It was so slow I kept getting confused and I felt as if we never really knew the characters. Take for example Lucky's mom. Fortune comes rolling in with secrets galore, in the last quarter of the book. Where was she in the beginning when things were in a lull around 20%.
It was funny and Lucky's luck or lack there of was one of my favorite portions of the book. Oh and I love Gwen. I would probably revisit this series to get more of Ms. Sassy herself. I loved Gwen and her monsters. Overall this was a 3 star read for me. I was hopeful and wanted more from Ever After.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for an advanced copy to read and review.
Saranna DeWylde puts her own fresh and fun spin on fairytales in Fairy Godmothers, Inc. I desperately wanted to love this fairytale-loving rom com, but the story ended up being a bit of a mixed bag for me. I almost didn’t finish the book because the first half wasn’t my cup of tea at all but I’m glad I stuck with it because the story finished strong and I enjoyed the world DeWylde created.
Lucky’s name feels like a terrible joke. Her luck isn’t your average level of bad – it’s preternaturally awful. But when her beloved godmothers ask for her help, Lucky ventures to Ever After, Missouri, to fake a wedding and put Ever After on the map as a wedding destination. The only problem is the groom is her ex. She and Ransom have a history of things going catastrophically wrong when they try to get together and “The Incident” was the final straw that broke their relationship. Though sparks fly upon their meeting again, other things begin to fly as well...like attacking mutant cherries. The hard part for me is that both Lucky and Ransom are decent people so watching terrible things happen to them isn’t enjoyable or funny. The first part of Fairy Godmothers, Inc. seems to be a series of disasters as Lucky and Ransom reconnect, fall back in love like there was no time apart, and everything felt shallow. If we were given any history besides their failed attempts at sex or the overblown “Incident” perhaps the insta-love when they re-meet would make more sense. This is the point where I almost stopped reading as everything felt unfunny, shallow, and over-the-top.
I’m glad I didn’t stop reading because in the second half of Fairy Godmothers, Inc. the book finds its feet. Lucky and Ransom’s relationship is tested as they have to make themselves vulnerable, face their fears, and take risks. It isn’t easy and the course of true love doesn’t run smooth, but I liked that they had to work for their happily ever after rather than have their fairy godmothers wave their problems away. There’s heart in this part of the book and the characters grow in an organic manner, learning about love, sacrifice, and acceptance; modern fairytale themes for an adult audience.
The town of Ever After is a fairytale world come to life. The titular fairy godmothers, Petunia, Bluebonnet, and Jonquil, are determined to bring love back to Ever After, as love powers the town’s magic and that magic is fading. Love in all its forms is at the heart of Fairy Godmothers, Inc. and that made me smile. DeWylde’s twists on fairytale characters also charmed the heck out of me. I loved exploring Ever After and seeing beloved characters in new forms and I definitely want to explore this adorable town and its endearing residents even further. So while I had mixed feelings about Lucky and Ransom’s story, I cannot wait to see what Petunia, Bluebonnet, and Jonquil have in store for their other charges!
This book was absolutely, completely bananas! I don't know what I just read, and I'm ok with that.
Honestly, I could give you a general plot and fill you in on the characters, but the story arc and lesson learned? Not a clue. I was texting a friend about this book and she said, "I want a silly romance with HEA and fairies" and yeah, that's pretty much exactly what you get with this!
A trio of fairy godmothers meddle, try and put on a fake wedding to save their magical town, and one woman has the worst string of bad luck to ever exist! All of your favorite characters make an appearance (the seven dwarves with beer names are going to live rent-free in my brain for at least the next year) and this feels like riding a roller coaster through glitter in an adult fairytale come to life. The characters are what make this story as well as the banter; there were several laugh out loud moments! I could have read about the godmothers and the young children much more, and I'm definitely intrigued enough to see what comes next!
You can't think too hard while reading. Just go along for the ride and enjoy! The author has a very specific voice, and I can see how this might not work for a lot of people. I think if I could wish for anything, it would have been that not so much was going on and the story could have focused on developing the relationship between Lucky and Ransom. I just needed a little more relationship building and a little less chaos? Like, did he have to also be a billionaire? It's hard to describe, I feel like this book will sit differently with everyone; but it's a nice, light Sunday afternoon read!
