A lustrous Camelot retelling based on Elaine of Astolat, sometimes lover of Lancelot, and in this tale, oracle to what will befall the kingdom. Sebastian weaves a thoroughly entrancing tale that highlights the powerful women of this myth: ruthless Morgana, tempestuous Guinevere, and Elaine, the girl caught between worlds who brings them all together. Definitely one to savor and reread.
This is really a strong 3.5 for me. I love the cover, somewhat desperately, and the prose, while definitely good (and evocative, and lyrical) was occasionally a bit long winded. I accept that as a style choice, since we're talking about a literal legend.
This book was full of action and spookiness! I really loved how dark and interesting this book was. I finished it in a day because I could not wait to find out what happens. Great book!
