Kathryn has written a moving tale of Tor de Wolfe's deep love for his wife, and we feel his anguish at her loss. Throughout it all the de Wolfe family is there to support Tor and help him with his sisters-in-law, "The Vipers". Then Tor meets Isalyn de Featherstone and he has a second chance at love!
Thank you Kathryn for another amazing de Wolfe story. I love that no matter the age of our h or H you always show they have the support and love of the de Wolfe dynasty behind them. I love that sense of family.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
Just love the de Wolfe family and always look forward to another book with one of them starring in it!! This time, Tor is featured and he has had a sad start with his wife dying in childbirth and then feeling saddled with his sister-in-laws for the rest of his life.
Along the way, he meets Isalyn and for the first time in a long time, he feels something for another woman. This does not make the two harpies (vipers) happy and that causes some pretty serious troubles for the couple.
Lots of drama added to their romance so it was hard to put the book down! Love the addition of some of the other de Wolfe family members and the side romance between Isabel and Fraser.
Loved this story of Tor and Isalyn. Tor experienced tragedy at a young age when he lost his wife and son in childbirth. Seventeen years later, he meets adventurous, independent and outspoken Isalyn and is immediately smitten. WolfeStrike is short, but packed with adventure, drama, humor and emotion. Looking forward to reading more from the de Wolfe clan.
Historical fiction romance adventure at its finest!
If your looking for all the above this book will take you back in time. The story begins so heart wrenching and unfolds beautifully. Worth the read!
Cute story. I enjoyed that it wasn't as much war themed as other of her novels. Both characters are likeable and story flows well.
Beautifully written, detailed. I was slightly confused with characters since this was the first book of hers, I’m glad their is a family tree in the front of the book to help keep it all straight. Loved the characters. The humor, the emotion. The only thing lacking was more sex. I prefer my reads to be a little more erotic but this was still a great book and I want to read the whole series in order some day. Would read, do recommend.
A dishonorable knight messed with the wrong family and is on the run. Tor de Wolfe and his family of knights are hunting him down. Instead of surrendering, Tor kills him in a fight. Returning the body to the man's family is the right thing to do. Rescuing a lady in danger is a knight's duty and Tor doesn't mind helping the lady. Circumstances are complicated and become dangerous when two vipers are waiting to strike. A compelling love story of a knight in shining armor. You just can't put down a book by Le Veque until it's finished!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
WolfeStrike by Kathryn Le Veque is book Two in the de Wolfe Pack Generations Series. This is the story of Thomas 'Tor' and Isalyn. I have yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book. Tor is a widower of about 17 years who has taken care of his two sister in laws at the request of his wife on her deathbed. In their present day, the sisters are not the easy of women and are very territorial of him. Tor ends up meeting Isalyn who he is smitten with but she doesn't seem to warm to fast to him. But things are set in motion for them to be betrothed. But of course nothing goes easy with their path to happiness. I enjoyed this book and how it draws you into their story. I would recommend this book and this author's writing.
This deserves more than 5 Stars in my opinion. Tor de Wolfe and Isalyn Featherstone have a really great story here. We have an enormous English knight who carries an internal pain for a very long time and we have a young woman who is no wilting flower. Their paths cross and the dynamics on the pages leap out at you. There is intensity, humor and the reinforcement of strong family bonds and honor that allow for a great story indeed!
A Medieval Adventure
She is a free spirit that can’t be tamed. He is a knight of the realm who vowed to protect those in need. Their first meeting did not go well. Although Isalyn tries to resist the pull, she finds herself falling for Tor. However, he still must convince her that he is the right man for her. Unfortunately, Tor’s wards have other ideas, and Isalyn must survive the spinsters’ shenanigans. If you like medieval stories with romance and adventure, you might enjoy this story.
An exciting Medieval romance, the story is both romantic and interesting from a historical point of view. Widower Tor de Wolfe doesn't have time for relationships, especially as he is haunted by the death of his wife and child whilst he was off fighting wars. That does not stop him going after the man who jilted his cousin and when he slays the man in combat, it becomes his responsibility to return the body of Steffan de Featherstone to his father. En route, he encounters Steffan's sister Isalyn, whom he rescues from a bolting stallion. Although the attraction between them is instant, neither of them is ready to consider a relationship, Tor because of his past losses and Isalyn because she is headed back to the sophistication of London Town. Nevertheless, the heart does not obey the mind, and they find themselves exploring new possibilities. When Isalyn and her grieving father visit Tor's stronghold, their attraction for one another is evident to everyone, including Tor's sisters-in-law, who are universally disliked. Barbara and Lenore plot against Isalyn, but they are no match for her strong character and determination. Tor finds himself being torn between the remnants of his old love and the love that flares up between him and Isalyn. It takes an extreme act on the part of his late wife's sisters to make Tor eventually take a stand and mete out judgment against the vindictive girls. Altogether, the novel is interesting, well written and entertaining and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift through NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Tor, from the house of de Wolfe, fierce warrior and strong knight, a giant of a man that was gentle inside. He had lost his beloved wife Janie and their child when he was in battle. Feeling he had failed her, he fled with Janie's two young sisters, leaving the Marches behind.
Now seventeen years later after that event Thor is with a group of knights, "A hunting party", to find a runaway groom. I could get a visual of this large group of knights, all imposing and large, coming into the village on their mighty steeds!
That is when he met her.. Well, he ended up on the ground, with her on top, saving her from a runaway horse... yes.. and that is when the story changed!
Love this series and revisiting the world created by this author who is simply amazing!
Thomas "Tor" de Wolfe has known much sadness in his life, starting with the death of his mother and two siblings in a tragic carriage accident when he was young to the death of his beloved wife and child during birth while he was away fighting for the king. With a heart shut down, he has no love to give his young, now orphaned sisters-in-law, which leads to strife and more tragedy many years later when interest is sparked and his heart reawakens. She's the sister of the scoundrel who jilted his cousin at the altar, whom he meets when he's bringing the man's body home to his father.
Isalyn de Featherstone has been somewhat estranged from her brother and father, having left with her mother many years before. She enjoys the city life and considerable freedom, which gives her a false sense of security that leads to dangerous situations. Luckily for her, Tor is there to rescue her, more than once. The attraction between them is strong, but is it enough for her to not only give up her freedom to live in the wilds of Northumbria but "The Vipers" - his possessive sisters-in-law, come as a package with the handsome, gentle knight.
I love that there are always layers of intrigue and subplots in Ms. Le Veque's stories, and it's like visiting with family when characters from earlier books show up in the current one. An absorbing read and satisfying story.
Tor, a great knight in his own right, and grandson of the legendary William De Wolfe returns from battle to find that his young wife and unborn child have died. When Tor is gently reminded that he requested that no word be sent to him on the battlefield of his wife's condition, Tor flees to Blackpool castle, another De Wolfe holding in the north, with his wife's young sisters. there he remains for 17 years until he is called upon to help with a family matter.
So begins another wonderful story of love, loss and family. What starts out as a story of honor for one family, and loss for another quickly turns into a classic love story set in medieval England. The inclusion of new characters along with beloved old ones as always makes this a "can't put down book" This author never lets you down with her stories and keeps you eagerly awaiting the next adventure. Another book by an excellent author that never disappoints.
i received and ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thomas “Tor” de Wolfe has his hands full with battles along the border and family, especially his dead wife’s sisters known as “the Vipers”. He’s sent on a family mission to retrieve his nieces runaway betrothed when he meets Isalyn de Featherstone sister to the man he’s after. I love that Tor is a sweet gentle giant, but in battle mode he’s become knight supreme especially when protecting his loved ones. Tor and Isalyn are instantly attracted to each, but will his sister-in-law’s the Viper’s win and come between them? A great story of finding love after he lost his wife seventeen years ago, Isalyn brings his heart back to life as never before, but will he risk it and love again? I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.
It is hard to believe that we are now reading about William de Wolf’s Grandsons. This is a remarkable adventure in the life of Thomas (Tor) de Wolf that holds you on the edge of your seat. Kathryn has blended Tor’s uncles and cousins into a mighty struggle against over empathetic women and enemies, while holding on to a secure border castle for King Edward the First. Tor’s first wife and child died while he was away battling enemies for a long period of time. When he returned home, he discovered his wife and child had died in childbirth and Tor was now responsible for his wife’s two sisters. Years pass and the sisters cultivate a feeling of possessiveness for Tor and he cannot belong to anyone else. This causes many problems, along with the suitor that left Uncle Blayth’s daughter standing alone at the marriage alter. I enjoyed reading and being brought up to date on many of the characters and some new ones that grace the pages of this book.
Losing his wife in childbirth left a lasting effect on Tor. He fled his old life, took custody of his wife’s two sisters and made a fresh start. For almost two decades, his life was protecting his home and the sister, known as “The Vipers”. When his cousin, Isabella, is jilted at the altar, a group is assembled to hunt the errant groom. The hunt is successful, but takes a very deadly turn. As Tor proceeds to the de Featherstone manse, he meets a very delightful young lady. Isalyn has just been rescued by a very large and handsome knight. As her perils continue and Tor must continually rescue the Lady, they strike a very tentative, but strong friendship.
When Tor and Isalyn agree to marry, she becomes a target of The Vipers. A confrontation between them doesn’t end well and they are even more determined to find a way to get rid of her. A devious plan is agreed upon and put into action. But who will survive?
A really great addition to the ongoing Wolfe Saga.
WolfeStrike by Kathryn Le Veque is another of her fabulous de Wolfe stories. This time the hero is Tor de Wolfe, son of Scott, grandson of the legendary William, Wolfe of the North. When he was a young man, he was married to a woman named Jane, with whom he had grown up. They originally married because she was with child. That baby died in its mother's womb in just a couple of months, but shortly there was a pregnancy to replace it. Tor went off to war and was gone for three months, during which time he had requested Jane not contact him, lest he lose his focus with thoughts of her and their child. When he returned home, he found that Jane and the baby had died and, keeping their promise, no one had contacted him. Her last wish was that he care for her two younger sisters, who were orphaned. He rode out that day to his father's home, along with the two little girls. It is now 17 years later and he and the sisters, now older, but unmarried, lived in an outpost of his father's: Blackpool. He had been north to attend the wedding of his cousin, Isabella, but was now searching, with a group of family knights, for the groom, who had taken off the day of the wedding.
I love the novels of Le Veque. They are like comfort food to me. I read them when I need a break, or when my reading has become tedious. This is vintage Le Veque: a man, a woman, sudden love, good sex, problems to be solved. This was an excellent novel with new and exciting problems to solve, which is a wonder given the number of novels she has written. Tor is a strong character, a man of few words who has been deeply wounded. He has caused his own problems and has to work out his own solutions. His uncle, Blayth, from an earlier novel is the father of the young woman involved. In fact, we meet several characters from previous novels, and some, from future novels. The plot is a strong one, as always, with plenty of subplots and intrigues to keep everything moving forward. Loved it, Kathryn. Thank you. I recommend WolfeStrike.

Book 2 in the Wolfe Pack Generation, but like all of Kathryn le Vegue books it can be read as a standalone. You will still enjoy this story if it is your first book by this author.
What I loved about this story that it was really about the different characters and their journey. It is a very character driven book. It is especially a book where the focus is on the feisty female characters and Isalyn made me laugh so much. I loved her spirit and strength.
It was a wonderful read.
4.5 stars
Good story, nice balance of action, romance and a few comic bits. Thomas (Tor) the hero is a widower and helps track down his cousin's errant finance, Stefan. Unfortunately this man gets killed and so Tor has to return the body to the family whereupon he meets the heroine of the story, Stefan's sister, Isalyn. Tor's sister-in-laws are a nightmare but Isalyn makes a friend of Tor's cousin, Isabella. There are family trees and it can be a challenge to keep all the characters straight in my head but I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.
