Hopeless Romantic is the 2nd book in the When in Rome romance duology by Marina Adair, that is Rome, Rhode Island. I didn't read the first book, but this reads perfectly as a standalone story. Beckett and Levi have both put their lives on hold to take care of others. Beckett is taking care of her father and brother, who is on the autism spectrum after the death of her mother. She runs her own business, and trains service dogs when she has time. Levi gave up a sailing scholarship, sixteen years ago, to support his mother and sister, who was a single mom, after the death of his father. He ran the family marina and bar while being a surrogate father to his niece. Both are so busy keeping things afloat that romance hasn't entered their minds. Even though they have lived in the same town and known each other, the day Becket walks into Levi's bar to get a to-go order, sparks fly. Can they resist the attraction they have to one another, or might they finally take time to do something for themselves.

I really enjoyed this romance story. Beckett, aka Beck, and Levi are great characters. They are both so caring, unselfish, kind characters, although Levi has a rough side at times. Both had given up so much when they were relatively young and became caregivers when their lives were really just beginning. I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow, the humorous banter and the arguments over the "comfort chicken". (You have to read this one to learn about that). There is a lot of family in this book, and it's not always positive, but what family is happy with each other all the time. Beck's dad needed to stand on his own two feet, and I was glad to see Beck stand up to him, finally. This is a romance, but it is also a story of family, love, caring, finding your place, and following your dreams (even if it takes longer than you planned). The ending was a bit rushed, and it seemed like it was a set up for another book, but alas, this seems to be the complete series. I enjoyed this story and now want to go back and read RomeAntically Challenged to read about Levi's story.

Com um romance de enemies to lovers, esse livro tinha muito o que entregar e falhou com o quanto o enredo é corrido, foi tudo muito rápido para o meu gosto, infelizmente.

Hopeless Romantic by Marina Adair

A slow burn romance full of ups and downs of life contains frustration humour and difficulty created by being a carer yo a family member. A reasonably good read a big flow in part but stuck wed oh it. 3.5/5

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

📖My Thoughts📖

I am such a sucker for a good rom-com! Especially one with quirkiness and some good play on words moments. This was such a fun and very entertaining book! I really liked seeing the relationship between Levi and Beckett grow. There is a couple steamy scenes in the book, but you can absolutely skip over them and still enjoy the story. This was the second book in the When in Rome Series, but can be read as a standalone. I’ve never read anything by this author before but with the amount of times she got a chuckle out of me or a smile on my face, I’ll be definitely reading more of her work.
Thank you Netgalley, Marina Adair and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed RomeAntically Challenged and was so excited to get the opportunity to read Hopeless Romantic! Beckett and Levi’s story was fun to read and I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. Their love for their families was not only a significant point of commonality between them but also very endearing. However, it did put a bit of a damper on them allowing themselves the time to really see what they could have together. This story was a great reminder that sometimes we have to put ourselves first and if we don’t ever open ourselves up to others, we could miss out on some pretty incredible relationships.

I just never got into this book by Ms. Adair. From the very beginning I felt I was going along out of necessity, not out of interest. I made myself give it a chance and go to 30% but I just didn’t want to waste more time on a book I wasn’t enjoying.

This is the second book in the When in Rome series. It’s safe to say, I loved it just as much as the first book in the series. This book was so good, it’ll tug at your heart strings and you will not want it to end. If you’re looking for a good romance book, I recommend checking this series out.

Was not able to read the entirety of the book and cannot give an accurate or overall rating/review . As a librarian for a big library system, we most likely have a copy of this item. I will look forward to reading it in future since I am sure I will.

This slow burn rom is mixed with flirty moments, personal stories, coming together, and giving you a happily ever after. While I do believe there was a lot of filler I still think it was a sweet story and wrapped nicely together.

I really liked the first book and had high hopes for this one, but I was disappointed. DNF at 31%.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I had tried to give this a try about three times though I was not able to finish it. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for allowing the chance to read and review this.

Got about halfway through before DNFing. I wanted to like it, as I was a fan of Levi in the first book, but the plot moved quite slowly and it just didn't hold my interest. I gave it a few tries, but just couldn't get through it.

This was a great book that I think a lot of people can relate to because it's about everything that life throws at you, good and bad, and having to overcome and deal with it while still trying to live your life to the fullest.

I didn't realize this was the second book in a series! I found the story heartwarming and sweet. I really enjoyed the banter from the beginning and found that Beckett and Levi had a lot of chemistry; I especially enjoyed how they worked well, to be honest, and to hold each other accountable. However, I really wish I had read Book 1 first. I think it would've given me better insight into the characters and their history. This book gave us just enough of a recap but I still wish I read Book 1.

Wanted so much to like this book, especially after the first one in the series and being introduced to the characters from this one. But I found this one more exhausting than anything, and watching Beckett deal with her family (I gather they have special needs, but wouldn't she at least qualify for a helper? Some type of help, aid, something?) - it actually gave me anxiety, and I read as an escape from life, not to run into even more anxiety and no relaxation. The whole Gregory Pecker rooster subplot also dragged and felt weird (give anyone, let alone an 8-yr-old little girl, an animal named Pecker? Is that a recipe for disaster or bullying?)
Sadly, just could not get into this one. Wanted to like it, but it tried to kill my faith in romance, which is never a good thing...
