Death by Intermission is the first book I've ready from Alexis Morgan, and it will not be my last. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. The mother-daughter (the main character) tension was done well and is relatable.
I liked Phoebe and hope she is featured more in the series. And I loved the dog, Zeke. I enjoyed reading this book and immersing myself in the setting and mystery.
A good overall read.
Loved reading this book and series. If you haven't read this book or series. Please do so. You can't go wrong. Abby inherited her aunts house with zeke the mastiff. When there is a murder. Abby sets out to investigate before they can strike again. To hear more read the series.
Abby McCree is better than ever in Death by Intermission.
As Abby hosts the last movie in the park, she has high hopes that this night will go smoothly.
While Abby is concentrating on the night, she’s also feeling a bit uncomfortable with the public display of affection between her mother and her significant other.
When a gruesome murder takes place, Abby can’t help but investigate, since it’s her mother’s SO that is the prime suspect.
As if things couldn’t get worse, the tension between Abby and her mother is too much for her. Abby finds herself seeking comfort in her friendship with her neighbor, Tripp, who always seems to be there when Abby needs him.
I really enjoyed this book, and having Phoebe play a large role in the story added plenty of twists and turns.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun, fast paced story.
Abby McCree is hosting the final movie in the park night in Snowberry Creek. With her mother in town to visit Abby and her new gentleman friend, they are both helping to clean up after the event. As they scan the permitter for trash they stumble upon an attendee that is snoozing. When Phoebe tries to wake the man up, Abby realizes the man is dead and thus begins another day in the life of Abby McCree, dead body magnet.
With Phoebe’s gentleman friend, Owen, being the main suspect Abby and Phoebe do a little digging to help clear the man’s name. Even though Abby doesn’t believe Owen is the murderer, she doesn’t know much about him and he keeps his life before coming to town a secret, though she suspect he is ex military like Tripp and Gage. When the dead man turns out to be ex military and a picture of a group of ex military men disappears, it seems more than national secrets are being kept and Abby aims to find out what is going on without becoming the next victim.
Having Phoebe visit was a great way to bring this story together and I wonder if we will see her moving to Snowberry Creek in future books. The mother-daughter tension is one we can all relate to and adds a new element to the story line. A fun series with a big old teddy bear of a dog and an eclectic cast of characters, you can’t go wrong spending some time in Snowberry Creek.
I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. While the fourth book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. This is a fun cozy and a fun series. Abby McCree moved to Snowberry Creek, WA, after her divorce and when she inherited a home and funds from a family member. With her long-divorced mom, Phoebe, currently visiting, things are a bit fraught in Abby’s life. Phoebe wonders why Abby is staying in Snowberry Creek ‘when she could be doing so much more with her life if she were back in Seattle’. Meanwhile, Phoebe and newcomer, Owen Quinn, have hit it off and Abby’s not sure how she feels about this new man in her mom’s life. Add Abby’s backyard neighbor and new significant other, Tripp Blackston, to the personality mixes and Abby’s days are pretty unsettled. Things aren’t helped when, at the last night of the Movies in the Park night, Abby and Phoebe find a dead body in the trees. With the murder weapon belonging to Owen, emotions are boiling up and, occasionally over, in Abby’s house. As Abby and Phoebe try to protect each other and their respective men, it’s a race to find out whodunnit and get the real killer behind bars before they wind up in the crosshairs.
Abby McCree is a spit fire as well as her mother. In Snowberry Creek she volunteers on many committees. After a movie in the park night her and her mother discover a dead body just inside the wood line while cleaning up. It’s only a matter of time before she gets wrapped up in the case.
I really enjoy the characters, setting and the mystery. Most of all her mastiff mix Zeke who I would love to snuggle with. This was the first in this series for me but not the last!
